I am using Kontakt 2, and I haven’t been able to get Podium to play back with pedal.
I added sustain per the instructions here:

    http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=561&highlight=pedal

The sustain parameter I add does show up in the MIDI parameters folder, but it doesn’t actually do anything. If I physically grab the parameter and drag it out, it does record a separate sustain track beneath the Kontakt track, and I can see the data recording in response to the controller, but it still doesn’t play back with pedal.

Probably irrelevant, but the piano I’ve been testing with is Old Lady.

Any idea what I’m doing wrong here?

Hm… What you did should have worked. At least with my piano it worked.. 😕

    Perhaps Frits has an idea..

Email me your project file and I’ll check if your parameter setup is correct.

Got the file. I see that you have recorded the sustain as a series of parameter events. Try enabling the “record as curve sequence on separate track” option in the parameter properties dialog, delete the existing sustain parameter track and redo the recording. Let me know if you can get sustain to work this way.

When you play the instrument without recording, does your sustain pedal have an effect on the sound, i.e is the CC#64 getting through to the plugin?

Do you have the same problems with recording other MIDI parameters like modulation, pitch bend? (perhaps not relevant with a piano patch).

Yes, the sustain affects the sound until I try to play back the recording. I haven’t tried the other parameters yet.

I’ll be home in a couple hours and will check your latest suggestion then.

Enabling the “record as curve sequence on separate track” option fixed it. I’ll go buy the program now. 🙂

    Thanks Frits.

I’m glad you got it working. Although I’m surprised it didn’t work for you with the project file you emailed me. I tried setting up a similar arrangement with my GPO installation, and playback of sustain parameter events were ok. It is a valid way to automate parameters with individual parameter events, but when you have more than a handful of them on a track (as you did) it makes more sense to use curve sequence automation instead.

I had tried it with GPO too, and that didn’t work either. Very peculiar. I wonder if it has to do with my keyboard using the full range of the pedal rather than being a simple on/off switch.
