    Hello,

I am trying to understand how I can use my ZOOM C5.1T device with Podium Free to record the sounds that I make.

This ZOOM device comes with a foot controller that connects to the computer (Windows) using a USB cord. It says here, https://www.soundonsound.com/sos/sep08/articles/zfx.htm that the ZFX software can be used as a standalone application or as a VST plug-in, which I assume means that it can be opened by a DAW program where the sounds made when using it can be recorded.

How do I open a VST plug-in when using Podium so that I can record the sounds made when using the software. The problem I have is that if I try to record is that it only records the sound of a clean guitar and not the sound created by or when using the software. I believe this to be because I don’t know how to open the VST plug-in when in the Podium environment or perhaps there is a setting or button that I need to set to be able to record the sounds created when using the ZFX software or Guitar Rig 3.

This device also came with Guitar Rig 3 so if you are familiar with either one and can guide me how to record the sounds created when using either of these applications that would be great.

Posting a video on youtube.com would be wonderful since I find the menus confusing. There is something that shows something about VST plug-ins but it starts off with VST’s listed and doesn’t explain how to bring up that view…

    : )

I presume you have already installed the ZFX software? It should have installed the vst plugin somewhere – commonly the default location will be something like C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vst plugins. Have a quick look at the Podium guide section on plugins here:

Hopefully you’ll find sufficient info there to get you going. If not come back and ask again 🙂

I assume that you are referring to 3.2. Sadly I did look at that first before I searched YouTube.

I have no idea how to bring up the VST selection window and it would be safe to assume that I have no idea how to do anything other than what I had figured out in the past but but have since forgotten; how to record the sound of the guitar.

Can anyone do a YouTube or explain concisely how to bring up the ZFX software to record the sounds it converts the guitar input into?

A little more information as to what stage you’re at would help here I think. Have you set up a project within Podium for instance? If you have set up a project and imported the plugins you want, then the F2 key brings up the plugin browser on the left of the screen.
I’m happy to try and walk you through it if required but as I said, some more info would be useful.

I can’t pursue this matter because for some reason I was getting a pop-up.

So I downloaded the newest version and I get this pop up. Don’t know if is the same pop-up because I never took a screenshot of the first one.

    I still use Windows XP : T

Ah, sorry I can’t help with that – it’s more of an issue for Frits the Podium developer. I’m not sure though if Podium still supports XP.

    > I still use Windows XP

Podium still supports XP just fine.

    > I can’t pursue this matter because for some reason I was getting a pop-up.

I had a few similar crashes when running just off my laptop with no decent audio interface or driver. Installing ASIO4All allowed Podium be the stable, solid beauty it was born to be.

I wasted a minute posting about the two main views in Podium recently, maybe it will help you:
