Wouldn’t it be nice if . . . when you get a spanking new plugin of any sort, that you can add it globally to all projects or works in progress without having to go through and import to each one? There is much to like about Podium’s core setup and filing systems; however, this one lack is a huge time-waster. When the Arturia Minimoog V was offered for free I snapped it up instantly — but then had to spend an hour adding it to my plugin database and going through and adding it to some 20 or more projects in various states of completion, just in case I might want to use it on any. An awful lot of clicking for one small change.

Click the ‘Devices – I/O, Busses, Plugins’ menu on the Project Start Page. There are 3 functions to quickly manage your plugin database in any project:

    • Rebuild and Load Plugin Database – will rescan vst forlders nominated in Preferences, save the file C:Users(Your Username)AppDataRoamingZynewavePodiumPluginDatabase.pod and give you the updated device list in the current project.
    • Update and Load Plugin Database – The same as the previous but maintains any customised device list hierarchy.
    • Load Plugin Setup from Template – This is my favoured choice. Project files saved as templates reside in C:Users(Your Username)DocumentsZynewave PodiumLibraryProject Templates. I made one with a customised device list. When I get a new plugin I open the template (Accessible through menu Project>Project Templates), import the plugin, and save the template. Then I’m ready to call on this device list from any older projects.
