It’s a moot point anyway, as far as I’m concerned, as I think the current design is fine as it is.

Moot point to me as well… Once you get used to it, it’s everything else that seems backwards!

I’m just not sure why Frits decided on the right to left flow. I can’t see any logical reason for that over a left to right direction.

… look at the Windows Explorer tree view ?

An looking at it from that perspective it’s extremely logical…

The upwards flow has always felt perfectly natural to me and I don’t really understand why some folks have difficulties with that – I can see why the right to left flow in the mixer strip could be problematic for some though.

    Mart.

I agree. It wasn’t the upward flow that threw me it was the right to left flow. Coming from Tracktion which is built solely on a left to right flow paradigm cause a bit of confusion.

I would think the closer it mimics the way windows works the less chance there is for confusion…

Not possible yet, and it’s not coming until after I have implemented SRC/time-stretching.

Bummer… I would much sooner have this than the SRC/time-stretching stuff, but then that’s just one guy.

Lock and unlock seems to me all that is needed. If you have too many permutations why bother with locking at all.

I just checked out those video tutorials and they are very good… I sure could have used them a year ago….

    Kudos to you…

You eve bang out something cool on a guitar or a synth and save it? I have tons of things like that here combined with cool drum stuff i’ve programed and vocal bits and stuff.

All the time… But when I actually want to use it in a song I re-record. I much prefer playing an instrument than playing/tweaking with the DAW.

Is time stretching really all that important?

Yes, even if it’s not the best sounding algorhythm on the market, it’s useful to be able to time stretch by a few bpm when necessary. For example, if you want to bring something from a different recording session into the project quickly.

Maybe Frits will create a very good sounding stretch algo with a fancy name and never need to license anyway!

To be quite honest, I’ve never used time stretching and have had no desire to do so. But then I don’t use loops and have had no desire to do anything with loops. When I have had a desire to change tempos I’ve re-recorded. I can’t see myself getting too excited about time stretching, but I guess there is a demand for this functionality.

Disk 5 – MP3 compilation of Meshuggah, Tool and Opeth

opeth 😀 … saw them a couple of months ago! was awesome. I love their intracacies….. still life is still my favourite album of theirs.

They came through town several months ago but unfortunately I missed them. They played in one of the smaller venues to a relative small crowd but from what I’ve heard it was one of the best shows in a long long time.

Fritz… You’re lucky you can get your music from the library. I used to be able to do that too, but over the years the library has had such an issue with theft of cd’s it’s really hard to find anything down that avenue any more.

I agree with you on MTV and radio. I’ve started listening more and more to a community channel that has a number of shows with locals going through their libraries so you get to hear some interesting stuff there. Outside of that there really is nothing new on radio and TV and its hard to find interesting new music. I often turn to music forums to find out about different stuff.
