Thanks for your prompt answers to the questions set fourth here today Zynewave, πŸ™‚ this has helped me make some choices (I have been on the fence about getting into Sonar for a while – cost was it’s biggest drawback and consequently still have not got it) having seen Podium pop into view and now see that your target is power (but in a user friendly way) it’s given me much of a serious alternative to consider.

I am looking forward to see how this application advances, and will keep an eye on it’s progress. πŸ˜‰

That double desktop tool is fantastic I am totally addicted to it now – for lots of different apps (and the net) – I also notice in Podium this has been thought of in a way with four possible screen views – now with double desktop too this should give tones for screen space πŸ™‚

There was a preorder offer at 75US$ for the beta users, which expired when 1.00 was released. Thing is, I hope my customers don’t feel they are beta testers. Sure there are many features missing, but Podium is a fairly robust application. The demo version is also not that restrictive, so people will be able to determine if they can use Podium as it stands currently.

You wouldn’t believe the amount of work I have put into this application. Considering this, I don’t think 90$ is a high price. The price will not go down.

Well looking at the future thread I can see that Podium is heading for great things. I am pretty direct with my comments, so sorry for any offence caused – I can see from the demo this application has taken one heck of a lot of man hours to produce.

First check that the default samplerate in the interfaces dialog is set to 48000. Furthermore when you want to work with arrangements you should set the samplerate in the arrangement properties dialog to 48000. The Freebees demo project are set to use 44100, so you need to change the samplerate to 48000 in the demo arrangements.

Cool, many thanks this is the issue solved πŸ™‚

    Hi Spe3d,

I think the VAT is very high too.

Sadly there is nothing I can do about the VAT.

    Hi! Zynewave, πŸ™‚

Nar! vat’s a cruel invention by our governments πŸ˜‰ – but you could still do something about the price this early in the game. Here is my thinking on it.

Right now you have a quite a young application in the public eye, just starting to get known about – at this time you would want more users (maybe) to help isolate bugs and get a wider audience in terms of hardware and software combinations being used.

It may well take a long time to build up a client base with its current price because there are more established products on the market at a lower cost – however in the future when you add more features from feedback from your early users – this price could well go up accordingly for new users – the old users get rewarded for supporting you early on by getting the product at a cost effective price now, while its still sorting out it’s teething issues. The new later users pay more because more of the issues would have been resolved by then – plus – your application would have become more established – and have a broader user base to help push the product forward.

    Just my thinking there πŸ™‚

You know I read EVERYWHERE, on all the msg boards and everything, people always want time stretching. What IS time stretching, and why is it useful?

If it’s simply changing the tempo of an audio file while maintaining the pitch (or vice versa), wouldn’t the quality of one built into a sequencer be not high enough for professional use? What I mean is, when I’m, say, remixing an R&B track into a house track, original being 80 bpm and dance version being 124 bpm, the only program I can really use on the acapella is ProSoniq TimeFactory…anything else leaves too many noticeable artifacts to be actually used. And the main reason TimeFactory is so good is because it does the processing offline (since it uses so much horsepower).

Anyways I must be missing something since there are sequencers that do have it built in. Somebody let me know.

It appears that Podium fails to check that the current sample rate is still valid after changing driver.

Using ASIO DirectX Driver, sample rate is set to 44100. Changing to SB Audigy driver, the 44100 is not supported by the driver, which probably caused the problem you saw. I’ll check my code for this.

I get that error with the demo – Audigy 2 Plat runs 48k in AISO but podium warns it cannot stream at 44.1 (latest demo)

I’m not sold on the idea yet! I think the price is too high as the app is missing a few features (or not yet complete) in essence the purchaser becomes a beta tester but pays for it. I think the VAT is very high too.

But then I have not fully explored this demo yet and I will see what the answers to the questions are like too, plus examine the forums in detail.

Hi! to this forum and it’s user base πŸ˜€

So I primarily use to FL –Studio Producer but running into issues with my workflow now that my projects are becoming more demanding – I like the concept of having everything on display in long lines rather than the pattern editor that’s in FL.

    Particularly automation views. 8)

What I would like to know is how people are getting on with this application – particularly users who have migrated from other apps.

As to direction for this app. What is the target audience? Are you going to be competing against the big boys like Cubase and Cakewalk or are you setting your sites lower?

Would it be getting close to a Sonar like application in the future is what I mean.

Also is there a quick at a glance β€˜full’ feature list that I can see – it’s not clearly evident and lots of people like me won’t want to hunt round a whole site and forum to get the full specs – good tip this πŸ˜‰

    Best regards,
