I did find the “Export file” menu item in the “old standard browser” but that was for saving project files, so I’m not sure how to use that.

It will save as a .pod file but only the sub-branch of the project that you have browsed into. So if you export a “drumkit.pod” file, you can import (i.e. Ctrl+I and not Ctrl+O) this file into other projects.

In other words I can create drumkits within drumkits ad infinitum, or so it seems. Which is sort of mind-boggling…

You can, but I don’t think you can find a practical use for this. The only use for the drumkit preset option is to determine whether note sequences should be edited with the piano roll or drum map editor.

Ok, I’m pretty sure I found the problem. I made a temporary hack in the code to simulate a buffer size of 441 on my RME card (which normally only allows power of 2 buffer sizes). I got a crash in the SSE optimized code that calculates the meters, due to the buffer size being uneven. You must have used a different buffer size before you upgraded the driver?

I have inserted a check that skips the SSE optimizations on uneven buffer sizes. I’m about to send a 1.76 beta to you. Please report if this fixes your crash problem.

So with a fresh windows install and with the only additions outside of windows being the Presonus Inspire drivers and Podium, Podium still crashes when I turn on monitoring.

Did you install the older driver that used to work with Podium?

Your report stated that you are using a buffer size of 441, which is kind of odd. If possible, try changing this to 256, 512, 1024 etc.

You could also try the ASIO4All driver, to check if you can use an ASIO driver at all with Podium on your PC.

By the way… I might have a deeper problem with my system as suddenly I can’t get a network connection on my music machine…

I recommend you use a diagnostics tool to check your system. I once had a PC with a periodically faulty RAM block which caused me a lot of aggravation before I figured out it was a hardware problem.

    1. There is a need to refresh certain views before a drum map appears within Podium.

I’ve now added code that will check all open editors and select the proper editor profile when a drum-kit preset is assigned to a track.

Does it crash if you switch to Wave drivers instead of ASIO?

Try to set up a track with a sound event, without audio inputs and plugins. Does it crash on playback?

With the inputs deleted. I then tried dragging ian input back into the arrangement and it crashed.

Open the interfaces dialog and create a report. Email or post it here.

    Both worked… (No crash)

Phew 🙂 . Now try adding stuff until the crash occurs again. Start with audio inputs, then plugins etc.

If you create a new arrangement and delete all tracks except the master track, does it crash when you switch monitoring on?

Try the same but select a different samplerate in the arrangement properties.

Tried renaming it and started Podium. Went through the setup. Created a new arrangement. Went into it. Turned on monitoring and got the error message.

Was the setup reset properly when you started Podium, i.e. the color scheme was set to default grey and interface settings were cleared?

When you reinstalled the old drivers, did you verify that it actually did overwrite the newer version (a version number in the control panel perhaps)?

Try entering into a sound object directly from the project start page, and see if you can play this.

I don’t get any crashes with your Podium.ini file. Are your arrangements using 44100 samplerate?

I did a search for Podium.ini and guess what? I don’t seem to have one.

    It should be here:

Perhaps something has changed in the driver interface that makes your previous Podium interface setup incompatible. Find your Podium.ini setup file, make a backup (email it to me so I can verify if it crashes on my machine), delete Podium.ini, and then try to restart Podium.

    Edit:
Or first try this: Enter the interface setup dialog, and press OK to make Podium reinitialize the interface setup.

I can hear both Podium and iTuns playing at the same time.

So I’m not sure I want an option that turns off the audio drivers when switching focus to another app.

The new option is disabled by default, so there is no change in behaviour unless you enable the option. I’m curious: Are you using ASIO drivers? Is Podium and iTunes playing on the same stereo out pair? Normally it is not possible for more than one application to access an ASIO driver. When I use my RME ASIO driver in Podium, mp3 playback in Media Player is muted even though it does not use ASIO drivers.

I’ve added a “Release drivers when Podium does not have focus” option in the Preferences dialog. I decided against the “driver release on power-off” option, because that would mean you could not play or preview sounds in the sound editor unless an arrangement was activated. Appearing in release 1.76.
