So the only way for me to see it on one monitor is not to have Podium stretched across both (ie. Podium confined to one ) ?
The main window, yes.
Can I then stretch the main project page back over to cover both monitors ?
I’m curious: You have the window stretched across two screens, so when you are editing arrangements the timeline is stretched across two screens? Isn’t that difficult to work with?
A solution to your problem could be to restore/unmaximize the window (resize it to one screen) when you work on the start page and then maximize the window again when doing other work.

The new startup page straddles my 2 monitors e.g one half one on, other half on the other.
And I can’t seem to move it.
Is this intentional ?
It’s intentional that the page is centered on the window. If the Podium main window is spread across your two screens, then you must be using the ‘extend my Windows desktop…’ option in display properties? Normal behaviour I think is that a maximized window only occupies one screen and you can then use the other screen for other windows.

I created a seperate folder and I moved plugins to this folder 1 at time and tried creating a new project. They all worked until I added Cygnus. I tried Cygnus on its own and it works fine. I then moved everything but the JCM900 and it worked fine. I then added JCM900 and it locks up. Seems to be a problem with JCM900 and Cygnus.
Hmm 😕 I also have Cygnus installed along JCM900 and it imported fine. If I should try to explain what happens with your import, then it must be something timing related. Maybe these two plugins shares some system resources, and the import of one of the plugins does not release the resource soon enough before the second plugin needs it. I’m guessing. Does the two plugins import next to each other on your system?

One problem though. The vst scan hangs on Real Guitar 2.dll
Do you mean to say this is a problem with the new project creation, or did it hang in the project wizard of the previous releases as well?
The problem only appeared with this ver. 166 using the new project creation. The problem never occurred before with the project wizard and/or with previous releases. 😕
Could you try to create a new project using the project wizard in 1.66 and see if this causes it to hang?
Btw. I don’t have problems scanning and importing the JCM900 plugin. I don’t have the other plugins in the suite installed, so maybe that is making a difference.

Another issue:
I have tried to bypass the JCM effect by setting the vst folder 1 level deeper by focusing on the Zynewave effects…
I set it as follows:
c:Program FilesZynewavePodiumVstpluginsZynewave EffectsBut when I hit create the plugin import dialogue box indicates the following:
c:Program FilesZynewavePodiumVstpluginsIt would also be good if you could use multiple folder pointers.
I would not recommend that you put your plugins in the c:Program FilesZynewavePodiumVstplugins folder, as this was intended to be reserved for Podium bundled plugins. This folder is automatically searched by Podium, in addition to the VST folder you specify.

Hmm, not the most beatiful solution; but you could hit the abort button just after the import dialog appears.
Or better yet; set the VST folder temporarily to an empty folder.

And also all the regular menu buttons that are available in the other windows I suppose : File / Edit / View / Setup ?
These menus are all available on the start page through the round context menu buttons. The button at the top left corner has the setup and view menus. The project menu button has the file menus. The edit menu is not relevant on the start page, as this was specific to the browser page.
I tried first to keep the toolbar from the browser page on the start page, but it seemed like a waste of space to me and I wanted to maximize the available height for the list panels. Is it a problem that the start page menu buttons are round? I could try to show the standard square menu buttons instead, but I don’t think it will look good.
it seems (to me) to be more logical and faster to use to have a Device category
Couldn’t this be solved by using folders? Currently the plugin import will place plugin mappings directly in the device list root. If you have your plugins sorted in folders on the disk, then these will be imported in folder objects in the project. Would you prefer plugins were put inside a ‘plugins’ folder instead of the root?
The Browser window was also the unique way to open new arrangement windows, but this can be easily changed with a “New arrange window” option…
If you right-click an arrangement on the start page, you get the option to open it in a separate window (or press Ctrl+Enter).
I don’t know what will be the new page, but as I use a lot of arrangements in a Project, I liked the possibility to arrange them visually in the Browser…
Yes, that was my original idea for the ‘layout’ mode of the browser. Most people probably won’t bother with the layout though, and will have maybe only one arrangement and the Devices folder on the main project page. For those people I think the start page is a better solution. Since you still find the browser layout mode useful, I won’t remove the browser pages.

to start a project there is this new screen but also the Wizard which is not a visible option in this screen
I intend to remove the project wizard window completely, once I get all the functionality from the wizard into the start page. If the old browser pages are confusing, then I may decide to remove those as well and let the start page be fixed on startup. That would remove the upper right toggle button. At some point I may also add a ‘setup’ page tab, either before the first project tab, or to the far right next to the ‘list’ tab. This page could show info for engine, interfaces and other important settings. There would be buttons for quick access to the five configuration dialogs.
But how can I reorder the objects in the devices panel without switching to the “old” look?
I’m going to add this for the next release, along with commands for adding folder objects.
One problem though. The vst scan hangs on Real Guitar 2.dll
Do you mean to say this is a problem with the new project creation, or did it hang in the project wizard of the previous releases as well?
Okay… One thing that’s missing. I can’t add a plugin from the new page…
In the intial screen shot you provided there is an icon which I believe would open a menu. It’s not present here.

I’ll continue adding some features for the next release, such as:
Menu button at the top of the devices panel with plugin scan and import, as well as some of the other options found in the project wizard.
