ZynewaveKeymasterI have not forgotten about this. I was hoping I could update my development tools before looking into this, as this would be a big help in the debugging and optimization. I may have to postpone the purchase though. Microsoft wants 550US$ for an upgrade to their latest compiler version 🙁 .
I am currently occupied with another feature, but I’ll look into this soon.

ZynewaveKeymasterOk then, bug is fixed. Here’s some technical background info:
VST version 2 introduced an alternative and CPU optimized method of processing which replaces samples instead of summing to an existing buffer. When I implemented this a few years ago I found that some plugins, even though they reported that they supported replacing, they did not implement processReplacing properly and instead produced a loud noise. Examples of such plugins were earlier versions of Yellow Tools Culture and FXPansion DR-008. I remember reading that Cubase had an option in the preferences that would force Cubase to ignore the processReplacing method, to be able to work with those few buggy plugins. I dislike those kinds of user options, so I instead came up with a method which would test the plugin when it was being loaded to see if it really supported replacing. However, it seems that this test is what causes Cygnus to become unstable. I have now changed the code in Podium so that the test is only performed on plugins using VST version 2.1 or older. Hopefully all newer plugins supports the replacing method properly. Otherwise I expect to see bug reports after 1.57 has been released 🙂
ZynewaveKeymasterI’m not getting any sound from it
Me neither. Just loading the plugin turns my CPU indicator up to 80-90%. I’ll investigate this.
ZynewaveKeymasterthe particular synths i am using (sts-24, laserblade – maybe other synthedit synths i dunno?) seem to only allow changing preset via the host
In that case it is best to convert the bank library preset to individual program library presets. Once you have assigned the bank preset to the plugin track, use the ‘create library presets for all programs’ track context menu. Once you have done this you can dispose of the bank preset, and assign the individual program presets in the preset panel.
ZynewaveKeymasterI don’t use it as Podium track backgrounds, but I find all my desktop wallpapers at:
ZynewaveKeymasterthe banks I have imported are appearing as individual presets rather than banks
It is correct that an imported fxb bank file appear as a single object in the preset list. Assigning a bank preset to the track will load all presets within the bank to the plugin. What would you like to do with the bank?
ZynewaveKeymasterI’ll take a look at it next week. If it turns out to be easy to do, I’ll consider implementing it for the next release. Otherwise, there are many other requested features that are of higher priority.
ZynewaveKeymaster- MIDI file export.
ZynewaveKeymasterI’ve never experienced crashes like this. Using the menu command to open the Podium guide only starts up the default browser application on your system. Did this occur one time only, or can you make it crash repeatedly this way?
ZynewaveKeymasterHowever there is no straight ‘arrangment’ in the view menu
It must have gotten deleted somehow. You can restore the default profiles with the ‘load default setup’ menu. You’ll need to redo your customizations after using this command though.
ZynewaveKeymasterHi Greg,
At the bottom of the arrangement editor, right above the transport toolbar, there should be a bar with “Mixer” written on it. Double click it, drag it, or press F7 to reveal the mixer.
If you don’t see the Mixer bar, then perhaps you have selected the ‘Arrangement (Compact)’ profile in the view menu. If so, select the ‘Arrangement’ profile.

ZynewaveKeymasterwhen i hit a note on my keyboard, midi doesnmt respond to what im hitting, therefore when i preview a key, if im using a pad,
and the pianoroll is set to 1/16 note i cant preview the how the pad should sound and i cant see what note im htting in the pianorollI don’t understand this entirely. Are you saying that you can’t get your MIDI keyboard to play the synth on the track you are editing? If so then, then the problem is likely that you don’t have a MIDI input mapping assigned to the track.
ZynewaveKeymasterForgive me for being lazy, but this bit in the guide explains it:

ZynewaveKeymastercan you cast an eye over them to see if there are any glaring problems ?
I see no obvious problems with the projects. They appear similar to the projects you emailed me months ago. After all this time working on a template setup, have you even had time for creating music with Podium? 😮
Your setup is very complex with VSTs, GigaSampler, External hardware, SW1000XG and plugcard mappings in one arrangement. I can understand that you feel you need all of these technologies at hand to create music, but maybe a simpler setup would be a better starting point to get started with composition in Podium.
