ZynewaveKeymasterHave you made this change in the 1.55 installer that is currently available already or should we wait for 1.56?
The LFX-1310 fix will be removed in 1.56.
ZynewaveKeymasterI’ve changed my mind. I dislike having to put code in that changes the preset recall behaviour depending on the plugin. Luxonix emailed me an updated 1.1.5 version which fixed the problem in the plugin. I’m assuming they intend to release this in an update. I’m now removing the LFX-1310 fix I introduced in release 1.55, and so everything will return back to normal.
ZynewaveKeymasterI hate to say it, Frits, but you were right saying that recently added extra security during plugin preset recall can break the compatibility with other plugins. Synth1 presets recall is now broken
One major downside about the VST protocol is the vague developer documentation which results in plugin/host developers having different interpretations of even the simplest things.
I’ve now added a further condition to the fix for the LFX-1310 plugin preset recall. This works with both LFX-1310 and Synth1. Fingers crossed that the remaining 17346 VST plugins are compatible.
Do you have any plans to add the ability to change installation path for zPlugins?
I’d like to keep them installed in the same user-specified location as Podium, or else updating Podium and the plugins can become complicated. You can copy the installed plugins to your main vstfolder if you like, but then the plugins will not automatically be updated when installing new releases of Podium.
ZynewaveKeymasterIf you do the scan & import on a new empty project, do all the plugins import then?
ZynewaveKeymasterthe search window clearly whizzes through the 100s of plugins, but briefly pauses at those that it is adding.
If you are using ‘scan & import’ on an existing project, Podium will only import those plugins that are not already imported in the project.
ZynewaveKeymasterThe import should accept any VST plugins. Make sure the Podium VST folder setting is set to your main Vstplugins folder. The import will only search up to four levels of nested subfolders. Maybe you have a deeper hierarchy of subfolders?

ZynewaveKeymasterDon’t many built in video cards tend to use shared memory?
I think all onboard video cards use shared memory, and that is one of the main reasons why they are slower than even the cheapest separate video cards. Many soundcard manufacturers, such as RME, also recommends against using PC systems where the video card uses shared memory, because this can affect the performance of the soundcard as well.
ZynewaveKeymasterwould it realy be that hard to create a version that doesnt rely on buying a new graphics card?
By todays standards, I don’t think Podium is very demanding on the graphics hardware. The note I wrote about requiring a decent graphics card, was intended for very old PC systems, and also to emphasize that having a decent graphics card really can make a difference. This applies to all applications. I’ve been reading complaints on kvr where people claimed that the Tracktion 2 UI is much slower than Tracktion 1. The common reply seems to be that Tracktion 2 now also uses transparency settings in its skins. Also I’ve spent a lot of time speed-optimizing the UI, so I’m happy with the performance. I’ve got a simple 50US$ ATI graphics cards, with no fans on it, and Podium is flying on this.
by adjustable patern lengths i mean having two difrent patterns playing at the same time. so, podium can be playing a 16 beat drum and a 64 lenght melody, you would hear the 16 bar drum loopplay over and over instead of the drum loop stoping playing at 16 bars
You set up one track with the 64 beat instrument sequence. Set the loop range to this 64 beat range. You then create a 16 beat sequence on a second track. This will only be quarter the length of the loop. To repeat this across the entire loop range, select the 16 beat sequence event, and press the insert key three times. This will append phantom copies of the drum sequence. If you edit the notes in one of the phantom sequences, the changes will be reflected in all the phantom copies. There are other ways to create the phantom copies, but that’s the easiest way.
ZynewaveKeymasterIf you click on the keys in the piano roll, the note will be auditioned with the duration of the editors quantize snap setting.
is there a way to tell when im playing my midi keyboard what notes im hitting so i can easily activate them in the pianoroll
On the future plan: Highlighting received notes from MIDI input on the piano roll. It will be similar to how highlighting of the note under the mouse cursor is done today.
ZynewaveKeymasterwhere can i find these drivers
If you have a premade PC from Dell or any of the other major brands, they have an online support section where you can download all drivers for your system. If you have a custom built PC you need to seek out the websites for the individual components. You mentioned you had an onboard Intel graphic chip, so either look at the website for the motherboard manufacturer or intel.com.
ZynewaveKeymasterIt sounds like a system restore or a Windows reinstall is a good idea. Another good advise is to check that you have the latest video driver installed. In the past I’ve experienced huge improvements in graphics performance just by updating the video driver.
ZynewaveKeymasterI don’t know of any tools that can tell you how much video memory a program is using. You can try going back to 1280*1024 to force Podium being slow, and then one by one quit any running applications/tools until you quit one that causes Podium to become fast again. That may or may not work. Plugins may allocate bitmaps in video memory so that they can be rendered quickly. I haven’t encountered any plugins where this is a problem though.
ZynewaveKeymasterHi aallvor,
To set the loop range you can right-click in the top timeline ruler and use the ‘set loop start here’ and ‘set loop end here’ menu commands. The timeline ruler shows a green bar which indicates the loop range. You can also use the mouse to drag this bar or the start/end handles. If the loop bar is obscured by the punch in/out bar, then you can activate the ‘L’ timeline ruler edit mode.
To activate looping, you should select the loop button in the bottom transport toolbar. The key shortcut for this button is L. When looping is activated the color of the loop bar and the timeline range is highlighted.
ZynewaveKeymaster1152 by 864 and just recently(about a week after installing podium) i chnaged my screen resolution to 1280 by 1024
1152*864*4 bytes (32 bit colors) ~= 4 MB video memory.
1280*1024*4 bytes ~= 5.2 MB.Still, if you have 64 MB video memory, that should be plenty, also for 1280*1024. There must be some utilities/applications on your system that is locking up a large portion of the video memory. Plugin editors can also lock video memory. Until a few years ago I worked happily with a laptop having 16MB video memory and using 1400*1050 32bit resolution.
