I noticed that double clicking on the volume or gain control will result in the track properties popping up.
One can easily bring up the Track properties window by clicking just about anywhere else on a track or mixer strip already so can you possibly change this behavior so that a double click on the new glass gain sliders at track level will reset the value of a slider to 0db instead of bringing up the properties window?
Some other hosts have this feature and it is really quite useful to have.
Thanks.

Beta 6 is uploaded. New is the pan dial and gain fader at the bottom of audio enabled track headers. On my todo list is implementing mouse-over highlighting of all the controls in the lane headers (like it is done inside the chain panel).
Very nice. I like it!

Double clicking the fader or the pan dial opens the properties dialog and sets focus to the gain or pan edit field, so you can quickly enter a precise numeric value. Ctrl+clicking faders or dials will reset to default (i.e. 0dB for the gain).

Right you are, that does work cheers!
Beta 7 is uploaded. Further refinements to the layout of the group/chain panels. Added icons next to mappings. The input mapping is shown as well. Still need to revise the track menus.
Found a bug:
When deleting the last track in compact mode Podium crashes. Podium also crashes when creating a new arrangement with zero audio and send tracks. This happens with beta 7.

Fixed, thanks. Beta 8 is uploaded.

I think the “Track” must over the Volume und Pan, or not!?
Another thing I’ve changed in beta7 is that mappings and gain/pan controls now appear in signal chain order, from bottom to top. Gain and pan are applied to the output of the track/plugin, so that’s why they appear above the plugin.
Beta9 is uploaded. The pan dial in the track header is replaced with a pan slider similar to the gain fader. Also changed the fader style. There are also small changes to the BSMR buttons. The minimized track header is now 1 pixel taller which results in a more precise display of the waveform in sound events.
Sorry, but I don’t like those new sliders. 😕
The pan value is very hard to read (though with the gain slider this is no problem for me, and I can’t seem to explain why 😕 ), they visually don’t stand out enough anymore to be noticed at a glance, plus I really don’t think this design fits at all.
Also, naturally I’m accustomed to changing the pan value by dragging up and down, doesn’t work anymore. So it’s done two different ways now (dials in the GP, inspector and mixer, unless you plan to change those, which I’d guess you do 😉 ).
Furthermore, it seems that (without holding shift) the pan slider jumps in steps of 0.04 or 5, whereas with the dial I could comfortably adjust small steps (0.01) with just the mouse.
So, to me the way they were in beta 7 was fine, I don’t mind them taking a few more pixels space. It’s all personal, but I hope this feedback helps in some way!
I like the new slider more than the old one. I also like the horizontal slider for the pan because it makes more sense to pan to the left or right instead of panning to the top and bottom.
Maybe those horizontal sliders for the pan should be used in the mixer too to avoid the current mixture of control types.
I like the new pan sliders..
My take on the sliders…
I definitely prefer sliders to dials especially for panning. I agree with Swindus “it makes more sense to pan to the left or right instead of panning to the top and bottom”. But I would hasten to add that it makes more sense to us but not necessarily for other Podium users.
I don’t know if Frits will include an option for users like thcilnnahoj but I can see why it might not be to everyone’s taste but personally I like the new pan sliders.
I do agree with thcilnnahoj on this matter though…”The pan value is very hard to read”. It is not terribly difficult but the text is… tiny …sorry. It is legible and I can work with it but I would prefer not to have to work with text that small.
Suggestions
1.Would it not be possible to increase the vertical size of the pan and gain sliders even a little bit please?
2.Also for the pan slider…increasing the width of the button to match the gain slider button size would help as you could add the letter “L” to the slider as soon as one moves it from the centre to the left and “R” can appear immediately after any move is made to the right. Of course the pan value will remain visible in the centre of the glass button. The letters “L” or “R” would appear either side of it, when there is *any* movement left or right.
Right now L or R appears only when the slider is 100% fully left or right. I think those letters should appear as soon as the slider moves either left or right not only at a fully 100% panned position. That will provide more feedback especially with such a tiny value to see.
3. The letter “C” could replace the pan values when the pan slider is fully central. This would immeadiately solve the problem I had (below) and new users will face when loading up Podium. If “C” is visible on the button when central, one can easily know what it does at a glance.
A problem
Something else to think about Frits…1.95 will cause a big splash because of all the changes but…the first thing I thought when I loaded up Beta 9 was “which slider is for Gain and which one is for Pan”? Not good. Moving my mouse over the dials gave me no info as well.
While all the changes since 1.94 are very welcome and definitely improve things I feel it is is necessary to caution against adding too many new features with no indicator as to what they do. No popups, updated guide, Wiki articles…
There is too much guess work in Podium 1.95 (as of now)…especially with new features IMO.
Releasing 1.95 and a tutorial or an updated guide (at the same time) would would be great. 🙂
You spoke of a 3rd arrangement mode…any news on that or have you decided to do away with it?
Thanks for the comments. Beta 10 is available. I agree that it’s hard to read the small font, so I’ve tried using the normal font size with larger fader knobs. The downside of this is that the space available for the knob movement is smaller and hence accuracy is smaller. But I think it’s ok still. I also moved the faders to the top of the track header, and dropped the glass-look. I’m looking forward to comments on this new look.
