4micaParticipantNormally it wouldn’t be an issue, but due to Steinberg’s efforts I am starting to see more and more new developers having only VST3 versions available. I could get Metaplugin but that costs. See this in Podium’s future? Thanks—

tomx2188ParticipantYeah, native VST3 support would be great!
For now I am using a free plugin called Kushview Element to wrap any VST3 I want to use. It runs fine inside Podium, so this solution works reasonably well but is a bit cumbersome.

ZynewaveKeymasterVST3 support is something I will work on in the future. Are there any current popular plugins that are available only as VST3 and not VST2?

AOS74ParticipantMelodyne 5 is VST3 only.

kingtubbyParticipantAs I understand it Steinberg no longer make vst2 sdk licenses available to developers. Therefore no new developers will be able to release vst2 versions of plugins.

tomx2188ParticipantHappy to hear it’s on the radar! 🙂
Yes, it seems there was a change regarding licensing from Steinbergs side.
I came across this info when checking out Odin 2, a fairly new and pretty capable free synth, which isn’t available as VST2 for that reason.September 26, 2020 at 15:10 #40849
RoelParticipantI’m happy to hear it’s on your list.
I just noticed the newest version of surge is now also exclusive to vst3.October 18, 2020 at 19:04 #40908
SeleDreamsParticipantSynthesizer V as well is one that is only available as standalone app and VST3 with no VST2 version.

z_sfyrParticipantAnother one is Texture, I bought it but I’ve never used it, so I don’t really miss it. Sign of the times though.

Grzegorz KawkaParticipantThe one of the most recommended FREE plugins next to Vital and Helm of 2021 – https://surge-synthesizer.github.io/
However there are not as many VST3 only plugins so far. But it systematically grows… For ex. Some of DAWs newer versions are now 64bit only.May 10, 2022 at 17:27 #42688

Takeshi FukushimaParticipantAlso Reason Rack Plugin is only available as VST3/AU/AAX.
But standalone Reason 12 is still only compatible with VST2.
This feels a bit inconsistent.December 14, 2022 at 05:00 #43282
Takeshi FukushimaParticipantIn fact, plugin vendors registered as new after 2018 have only release VST3 (or AAX and CLAP) since Steinberg no longer supports VST2. Many of my recent purchases of plugins were VST3 only. I’m Podium user as 3 years licensed, can I expect for VST3 support in Podium?

ZynewaveKeymasterAt some point I will have to look into either CLAP or VST3 support. I expect it will happen in 2023. From a development perspective I would prefer to start by adding support for CLAP, unless there are a substantial number of new plugins that will only support VST3.
