My suits – all freeware:
1. Khaerhus Classic
2. Melda
3. Digitalfish
4. Voxengo
5. ReaPlugins
6. GVST
7. Variety of Sounds
8. AuraPlugs
But then there are single units VSTs I like and use, too many to mention.
About these plugins, but not only…
I think there’s alot to do with the graphics. They have a nice graphic – they must sounds good! The best the graphic, the best of a sound!
This I notice is a general thing. There are very few exceptions when people believe a plugin has a great sound, inspite of poor graphics – probably a good example is Terry West plugins.
Funny how mind works!
😉
I guess we just love nice…
🙂 When I say that, I really mean it! Even here the second hand computers are becoming cheap, but I simply don’t need more processing power, if you believe that! On other forums, someone asked when does a PC become obsolete… Well, to me, for the work I do, with the software I use and hardware system I have, my Pentium D @3.00 Ghz, 2 gb ram, HD 3870 512 ram, 160 Gb is STILL enough. I am blessed – in my oppinion – with the minimalist mentality, so getting “newer and better” just because I could is not really my philosophy inlife. When I will NEED, I will change, because it’s just a matter of time… But until then, I keep running, happily, my XP SP3 OS.
But yeah, I admit I am a particular case I’m afraid…
Good old reliable XP 32 bit.
I don’t have reasons enough the justify upgrading.

I hope to extend the Podium popup-help system over time, so that we can toss the guide and replace it with a series of how-to videos. I do think that the current popup-help is up to date, as I integrate the popup-help while coding new features.
Excellent! Popup help is great and works a breeze.
And “video manual” ideea – absolutely! We humans DO get about 80% information thru sight – hence videos are a very good idea.
Actually, the very video presentation from the home page is something that tought me alot. I just needed to pause it often! 😉
Thanks guys.
Indeed, they are good. They are CPU and host intensive and so, prone to various hickups in running. Personally, I think people likes them so much also because their GUI, which is beautiful, but certainly they sound good. I also like them and would like to use, for me only Density is a total no go with Podium. Oh yes, and epicVerb was quarantined in the effects list. I even forgot about it.
But that brings me back to another point. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a compressor as a part of zEffects. I think zReverb is very very nice and even unique, the zEq is good and easy to use also, and so a full(er) suite of essential effects will be just a wonderful thing for Podium. The way zEffects work I think is simply clever and efficient!
…dare I sit at the “licencee” table… 😳
MIDI effects. Arps mainly.
Not to hijack the thread, but since you use the Variety of Sounds plugins, could you tell me if Density works with Podium in your case.
Here, adding Density is fine, it process it just fine aslo, but when bouncing… Podium crash. No mater if on master track or normal, Density will process the sound, but bouncing kills the entire application…
Thanks!

I want to put it out there again — does anyone know how to locate these “CSPL BUTTONS” the Guide says exist?!?!
To be honest, I was wondering myself. Maybe the manual reffers simply to the right click menu entries.
That would be a very simplistic answer, but really, just PLAY around with it.
Here are some useful things you can do using the timeline, I found them by playing around, like I said:
1. Record or insert a wav on a track, select it, go to the “repeat” button on the transport, right click and “set loops around selection”
2. Right click on the timeline and then you’ll be able to select a bunch of options for setting the Cursor, set Segments, set the in and out points of Punch Recording, set Loops margins, then you can copy, move, delete, etc.
3. CSPL is just that^^^
4. Enter editor by double clicking the wave form. Again you have some good options there.
And so on, so forth…
But you said you did just fine without the manual…
Why do you need it? 😉
On a serious note, I think, for me, the most helpful was to read the forum posts, to watch the available videos and read the manual too. Probably more people would be interested if the manual was a little bit easier read, but on the other hand, the program itself is rather nicely layed out, so, no real issues.
For someone that is not a totally novice to using DAW software, it is fine. I don’t think is such a big mess as you might feel right now.
yes, here’s Dan using it in his mix:

from 2:40 on you can hear it.
Happy Christmas to you and family!
Thank you for all your work!
Bring the audio stretch on!… 😉
Happy holidays!
Now that it comes about it, I can not use Density vst from Variety of Sound, when I hit Bounce, Podium goes air. Closes instantly.
