A very interesting discovery by Kingtubby, I certainly have not encountered it until this thread.
Thanks for explaining it in more detail Frits. The hierarchic engine remains a great idea. 😉
The difference between effects and instruments is only a consequence of the standard worflow in softwares that imitate audio hardware (like Cubase), and there are a lot of plugins which are instruments AND that can process audio, and effects that receive MIDI including notes.
I think that this distinction has no more real interest in modern softwares and I like a lot the concept of mappings in Podium which avoid it.
Well said.
Just tried it with z3ta and I could not get the wave file and midi data to play together. But I did manage to do it with another VSTi.
I can imagine a few ways to use such feature creatvely given enough time. I think Tracktion may allow for something similar. Actually it does. Just tried it.

Err…where is the Podium pdf ?
I’m only aware of the Guide….
No PDF sorry. I meant the html guide 😉
That explains it. 🙂
I figured it had to be something major to hold you up on this issue for this long. 😉 No problem Frits…when you are ready!
Cheers! 😉
Hi Frits,
Just a quick note on the disk streaming optimization or preload scheduling…have you been able to look at this since 1.49.?
Still having the same problem here with 1.56. The same audio files I used in that project, work perfectly well in Cubase SX3 but will not playback without skipping and dropping out during playback in 1.56. 🙁
Any idea when you can look at disk optimization / pre scheduling as everything else in Podium is 100% for me. 😉
This is the *only* issue (big or small) I have with an otherwise flawless Podium.
Thanks 😉
Midi out? Woo hoo! 🙂
OK thanks!

I’m now removing the LFX-1310 fix I introduced in release 1.55, and so everything will return back to normal.
Hi Frits,
Have you made this change in the 1.55 installer that is currently available already or should we wait for 1.56?
grok…as Frits said Podium does not have a warp feature but you might want to check out Live Slice loop slicer/ arranger / granulator VSTi.
It has nothing to do with Ableton but provides very similar functionality to Live 5 for just 49 Euros.
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1952.html (Scroll down for user reviews).
It is not going to compete with Live 5 in all areas but it is not trying to.
Live is a host this is an instrument + FX, but for sound mangling, stretching of any Wav file (I think it also has ACID file support) it is very effective and from my usage so far does work in Podium as well.
It’s great fun to use and will preview files at host tempo. It think this little plug in is a great way to get some of Live 5’s features into Podium.
For anyone looking for serious beatslicing and time stretching features in Podium this may be a very nice solution. It think it is a great plug in to use with Podium as Podiums gapless engine encourages this sort of plug in usage.
Of course it may not have what you are looking for but then again it just might… 😉
Live Slice website…
http://www.livelab.dk/liveslice.php
Features:
Automatic or manual slicing.
Multi-track sequencer with snap / quantize.
Up to 32 tracks, 64 loops, 256 slices.
Host sync.
Integrated loop browser with preview.
Full MIDI control.
Resizable GUI.
Up to 8 outputs with individual slice routing.
Loads all uncompressed .wav formats.
Supports any sample rate.
One of my favourite aspects of Podium is the gapless engine. You can pretty much start playback and never need to stop before finishing a project.
Adding FX, instruments, importing new plugins e.t.c can all be done in real time so you never lose that idea in you head! 🙂
It’s also great that the track inspector has many track level features so it provides a good alternative to working on the track itself. Now that the buttons on the track inspector (BSMR) are the same colour as those on the tracks, it’s even easier to use and navigate. 😉
And the additional pop ups really help when you just need a quick reminder about something.
Don’t get me started on the superb zPEQ! 🙂
I think a written manual will appear at some stage, but I imagine it will be highly unlikely to appear before a boxed copy of Podium does. One would expect a written manual with a boxed copy but I think there are few download only packages that also have a written physical manual.
I have simply printed out the Podium PDF. It’s not that many pages to read as Podium has a very good and sensible spread of key features that people actually want, so reading through the PDF did not take me that long for such a powerful programme.
Podium has plenty of depth to it. Far more than is apparent from going through threads on the forum.
A Podium manual would be nice to have for sure but I think a Podium Boxed option will appear first. 😉
Thanks for the heads up.
