…i’m still curious about this 50 topics ( which 50 topics that is )

    Maybe these:

    @adimatis

I just need to be able to use a 100 bpm loop into a 120 bpm project in Podium without so much of a headache. Something like that.

While browsing through the free plugin database in KVR I stumbled upon this one, tested it thoroughly, no crashes or freezes, and it just works perfectly for your needs:

    Maik Menz LoopDrive
    http://www.kvraudio.com/db/3297

Ideal for tempo-matching. All you need to do is to load the wave file inside LoopDrive by clicking on the little folder icon and from there on adjust the tempo to match the tempo of your project/host by clicking on the “link to host” button down at the bottom. Alternatively you can adjust the tempo by turning the knob at the right. I guess then you could easily bounce the track and use it as any other wave file/loop in the timeline.
EDIT: The plugin is MIDI triggered, so you can activate the loop/s through the Piano Roll as well, and then bounce when the desired results are achieved.
This little gem also offers a pattern matrix, so variations and grooves are right there on your fingertips.
    Job Done 🙂

And here are some demonstration videos:

There is also another one designed for the same purposes by SKNotes called Traks
    http://www.sknote.it/download.htm
…but for some obscure reason Podium just won’t load it here. Opens an error box. 😕 You can give it a try though, maybe it will work on your systems.

So I hope this will be helpful for you guys.

I simply want to be able to take a loop, drag it’s margin while pressing Alt and fit to the tempo in Podium! No need for fancy “sound design”. I just need to be able to use a 100 bpm loop into a 120 bpm project in Podium…

Well, I may have overlooked this particular application of time-stretching. Thanks for the heads up adimatis. Maybe because I never use loops, yet I can perfectly understand you so +1 for that!

Now that I think about it, Paul’s Extreme stretch is, well, for extreme metamorphosis and not the best choice for tempo-matching per se.

So here’s another Free and Open-source Time-stretching engine, created exactly for time, tempo and pitch stretching/matching/shifting.

    SoundTouch Library:

    http://www.surina.net/soundtouch/

I see that REAPER uses the same engine for its time-stretching as well.
And the audio demos are IMO amazing.

My request would be exactly that you could open Wavosaur from within Podium.

Oh, spot-on! I was considering whether to start or not a topic solely on this (and some others) wild idea 🙂 I cannot help but think what would become if Frits joined forces with Wavosaur, Antress, Variety of Sound, Togu Audio Line, Fuzzpillz and other great Freeware developers…..Maybe too far-fetched, yet…one can only dream right, dreams don’t come with a price tag (for now)…

    Another note to Frits:

Just like Paul’s Extreme Stretch, SoundTouch is Open source and free for download from their site. I can only imagine the great result once both of these engines are implemented, one for more elaborate and deep work, the other for generic and everyday use, thus making everybody happy, and offering great diversity. And all for free, without having to pay the monstrous amounts of money the “big players”require. 😯

Right now, my todo-list is overflowing with minor things that have been requested over the years, and I intend to thin out that list before I start on new major features.

The best thing to do at the moment as well IMHO, so a big thumbs up Frits.

As for the time-stretching craving choir; there are alternatives guys. Of course the needs and requirements may differ from person to person, yet there is an amazing (at least to my needs, tastes, workflow and musical style) third party software, that should be beyond enough for the time being, until native time-stretching arrive to Podium (and even after that).

    Paul’s Extreme Sound Stretch
    The official site:
    http://hypermammut.sourceforge.net/paulstretch/

    And in action:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPQ92u2P4is

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BnbMCA_mYI

Perfect for sound design and unleashing the creativity.

    (Personal Rationalizing)
I have always thought of time-stretching as being one of the many factors, stages, tools for sound design and heavy manipulation of pre-synthesized sounds, rather than just stretching a sample by 0.2% just to visually fit and snap to the grid. It is much much more, and Paul Stretch handles it greatly.
    (End)

Oh, a very important thing to say – It is Free!

    – the option for an external audio editor from within the application

Why not complement this “shortage” with:

    – Audacity – http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
    – Wavosaur – http://www.wavosaur.com/

    Again, both are Freeware.

The only inconvenience (to some extent) can be that all of these apps will require work outside Podium, therefore, numerous imports and exports of wave files.

This complementary setup works more than satisfactory for me, so…just some alternatives to consider.

    Note to Frits:
The algorithm/code of Paul Stretch is open source, and the Windows binary is available for free on the site. So…why not 🙂

I have to say he is easily one of the most responsive devs out there but…he is only one man

Yes, I am perfectly aware of that and can only guess how difficult and maybe from time to time overwhelming this whole job can be for a one-man-army. Didn’t want to sound cruel or harsh. My exclamation was rather an observation went out loud.

I prefer Podium references a sample location to minimise consumption of disk space. It is also a system which ensures project files aren’t corrupted due to an orphaned sample…

Well, it was the very motivation that drew me to come forth with my suggestions, because after a rearranging of my samples folder, the project ended up with tons of blank spaces exactly due to “orphaned samples”, since Podium had referenced them to a sample location that no longer existed.
I thought that creating their copies in a dedicated folder would eliminate such risks for good, hence the whole topic. 😕

I’d like a ‘Copy Arrangement Samples’ right-click menu entry on an arrangement object in the project start page.

You put it much clearer than i did in my second post on the topic. Maybe this will be the best solution, a neutral one, leaving this action to the user instead of automatically copying files.
    😐

I also brought it up previously on this thread.

Sorry, I wouldn’t have created a new topic if I knew it already existed…yet, all this for a reason I suppose.
Seeing your posting date Conquistador, made me a bit concerned, and dare I say shocked. It was 4 years ago. And still no improvements in that field whatsoever. Makes me wonder, at the very least.

    Hm…

As far as I could be able to find out, it is not possible for the time being unfortunately. So this would be a very handy feature to implement for the future (preferably near). Things like fade-ins and outs, volume, stretching of MIDI and events, changes made to the waves themselves with the pencil tool etc. to affect all the selected MIDI or audio events. Would be a time-saving improvement.
If there’s already a way to achieve this, maybe someone can chime in and clear the clouds of doubt here.

“This mapping is already active on another track would you like to create a new instance?” With a simple OK / Cancel button option to choose from.

Well, I am one of those who scratched their heads for a decent amount of time trying to figure out how to work around this issue.

    So a big +1

Would be good to have a few choices eh?

Oh, definitely so! The beauty of Nature ( and the Universe by extension ) lies in diversity.

Therefore ideas and statements are never absolute and always open to further development 🙂
So thanks 4mica for bringing forth a different alternative.

Initially my idea was to suggest a right-click option in the arrangement section, something of the like – Copy file/s to project folder or similar.
So, here’s a counterpoise to my own post :D, and a third option.

A little off-topic, yet this could add a tiny bit to the big picture…

Will try some automation….and push to 80% or 90% of CPU

I am using 2.40 Free and have two very big projects now, respectively with 65 and 82 tracks, and a ton of synths, VST effects and automations, both constantly residing in between 96-98% CPU…and without a single glitch, pop, clip, zip, freeze, artifacts during playback, or crashes in general. All runs amazingly smooth, and all this powered by only one CPU core 😯

So, I am pretty sure you will not encounter any issues in this regard, especially considering that it is a newer release and with the multicore support in the commercial version…the perspectives are bright.

what should I do to finish off this track?

Listen very carefully to your heart and the music within.
Your greatest tool is your imagination.

The so called “Mastering” is nothing but the artificial establishment of the alleged “industry”, and therefore it applies only to those, whose goals are commercial and profit driven.
And this has nothing to do with objective quality ( the loudness wars for an example ) and art in general. Quite the contrary. [-X

That being said, great job my friend. It sounds very clear. And if it sounds like the tunes in your mind, then it is already complete. No need to pursue some obscure standards in an effort to sound “pro”. Only you can define what is acceptable or not for you.
As to compression and limiting, I didn’t notice their absence, so…

    Congratulations guys.

What a lucky move you have made kxuser: joining, posting, and an hour later winning. Could even be a synchronisity.

Wish you all the best and truly amazing and original creations made with this powerful tool for the imagination.

As for my guess, Frits is right, it is solely based on the forum activity (seems like a ghost-town from time to time). So it is really good news that so many people have downloaded Podium Free. Let’s hope they will join here and enrich the community feedback in the future.
