    I really didn’t want to participate in this topic, for it was obvious from the get-go where it will lead, and worship of the “divine feminine” was to be expected. Yet some utterly empty and discriminative against men claims were made, so to balance things out decided to participate after all.

    @MLS wrote:

    Women have a vision of things (and the world) completely different from men (better, but that’s just my opinion), they have a greater sensitivity: all that they do (or almost), they do it better than men.

    You just totally disregarded and belittled the hundreds of thousands (or even more) men who imagined, envisioned, dreamed, discovered and explored (in many cases with risks a few would take), faced difficulties, isolation and solitude in their endeavors, engineered, composed and created almost everything the western world takes for granted today.

    @MLS wrote:

    I admit that the question may sound sexist

    It doesn’t.

    @MLS wrote:

    As a man, are you offended by what I wrote above?

    No. Just saddened. Oh, I forgot, we’re incapable of that.

    @MLS wrote:

    If a woman is surprised by a man who works crochet, is it completely normal?
    If a man is surprised about a woman who is a mechanic, is it discrimination?

    No, It’s an objective social observation unless the relevant to your country statistics say otherwise.

    @MLS wrote:

    The reason is historical: for too long, women are subjugated by men, so it is normal they raise the barricades …

    You forgot to mention the “Evil Patriarchy” mate.

    If we are talking about the Western world, then this is clearly not the case anymore. I have never in my academic, or day-to-day life seen a barbed wire barricade and conspiring evil men with their sinister machinations and manipulations, stopping women from attending the science lectures, studying or generally exploring their own imaginative landscapes and dedicating themselves to the idealistic pursuit of creating things that are genuinely novel and original and share them with the rest of their fellow humanity.

    You know, you’re an engineer after all, it all starts with a vision, a pen and a paper. In the context of Post-modernity – a computer. No one can stop you from using them even if they wanted to in this day and age.

    In my five years of economics studies, and six of English philology and literature, it was us (the boys) who faced great difficulties. So much so, that it was almost an ever-present topic in our conversations, and caused great disillusionment. The performance of the girls was generally lower than ours, yet their marks were higher, and we had to bend backwards and be stellar and innovative just to be marked B or B+
    Ironically, it was the female teachers, professors and assistant professors who were objective and fair to us. (They could afford that, their men counterparts could after all be accused of discrimination had they acted objectively, so apparently equality transformed into privilege at some point)

    What I am trying to say is this: Everything is a personal choice. I’ve been in economics and philology/linguistics – the male students in these areas were let’s say 20-30%, and I am now preparing for, studying and attending lectures in advance in Electronic Engineering. Guess how many females are there? 20-30% max. And if you deem this discriminative and oppressive, then what about men in the humanities and art/literature studies? Then for the sake of consistency it is perfectly logical to conclude that we – men – are oppressed and discriminated against in these fields. This, of course is ludicrous, and serves no other purpose but to entertain our hypothesizing abilities and submerge in a nonexistent plain of ever expanding abstract cause-and-effect-continuity.

    In conclusion:
    Assumptions are nothing but waste of reason, so none were made in my statement here. Yet plenty were made above. Consequently, it is not in favour of either side.
    Personally I would very much like to see more women in the sciences, gaming, computer-music and engineering, not because of the assumption that they will bring a spark of their divinity and ethereal abilities to the field, but because this will mean that more human beings are growing to the understanding and appreciation of the scientific method and thus technology and its endless potential. Ideally, this interest would lead to involvement and innovations in the respective fields, and greater possibilities for a brighter future. (Call me a technocrat – I admit, I am)And all by virtue of the number of people involved, nothing more, nothing less.

    Good call alex, I haven’t been around for months, so obviously I have missed your post.

    Let this topic serve as a reminder then.

    EDIT:

    I find Dual Panning extremely important and useful, and have been missing it in Podium for a long time.
    There’s another plugin that can also perform this task: Hofa 4u Meter, Fader and MS Pan, 32&64 bit

    Don’t know what to say Azure, I’ve been having my doubts as of late as well.

    As to the lack of multiprocessing – well, this IS the limitation you know. In all fairness Podium free is the most generous DAW out there, (go and try those track-limited free DAWs with their 4 or 8 tracks and 4-5 vsts per project – completely useless) so this criticism is a bit unfair.

    All other point you raise actually hold ground though (unfortunately). There’s still work to be done in order to bring Podium “up there” with the rest.

    So, it’s your call really. Assess your needs (not desires) and act accordingly.

    The idea of a second DAW seems ever so alluring now to me as well TBH.

    Thanks for the heads up Tele, been waiting for the final version for quite some time.

    After my recent plug-cleaning only two remained in the “Comps” folder: Feedback Compressor and jsCompShaper.
    Just love these digital and proud of being so plugs. Absolutely great sounding, transparent, gorgeous GUIs, innovative (never cared for analog modeling myself that much).

    And maybe a little bit of Molot for dirtiness.

    Definitely check them out

    Yeah, I see you Tele.

    Funny, isn’t it? And yet people seem no less indoctrinated to the “professionalness” of it.

    Recently I was at a store, looking for an audio interface (after mine died, along with the entire PC…and the amp…Still recovering from it) and experienced this nonsense first hand.
    I was offered an MBox Pro by the dealer, because, you see, it was “industry ready” and came with PT, which I passionately refused, claiming that PT is the last thing I need.
    Strangely enough, I was then faced with him and some random guys, saying things like: “It’s all you will ever need” , “You’ll grow to understand it” and so on.
    What can you do in such a situation? I was that close to bombard them with DSP, 64 bit summing engines, null tests, even the McGurk effect and what have you, but found myself with a smirk and a quiet “OK”

    Just a real-life example. For amusement’s sake.

    I am unable to get it into sidechain mode though. :HELP: When I imported the plugin I didn’t get a multitimbral instances automatically so made the necessary objects (images below). If I can’t get it to run in this mode, like Me le suono, will probably uninstall it.

    Hey Levendis, no need to uninstall this great plugin 🙂

    There was a version of Molot with disabled external sidechain here at the bottom of the page:

    http://vladgsound.wordpress.com/page/2/

    …So maybe that’s your version. Just go ahead and get the proper version from here: http://vladgsound.wordpress.com/plugins/molot/

    Just make sure that after you set the routing in Podium you click on the small arrow sign on the bottom left, and from there right click “Sd.Chain” to become external and that’s it.

    Hope that helped.

    That’s exactly what I did before this install.

    Make a clean Windows reinstall. Then perform a full wipe/format of the free space of the drive. Mind you, that will take a loooong time. Here’s some info on what that actually is:

    And here’s the tool with which to achieve it:

    Well. I’m using 3.1.2 and this is definitely not a concerning issue here, or rather a low-priority concern factor.

    Rarely things like that happen, but I’ve always attributed this problem to the vst, the notable “hang-ups”. Or the failing of reporting the Midi Off messages from the Vsts to the Host.
    In my experience Charlatan, Noisemaker, Linplug Alpha Free, Voyager and some others are prone to such “nastiness”. And that is why some synths have the “Panic” or “Reset” buttons.

    Anyways, we’ll not know for sure unless Frits clarifies the technical aspects of this issue.

    PS: In the meantime Graham, did you try to deactivate the plugin itself (pressing the “x” button in the source selector) and then activate it from there? It should be faster than resetting the whole engine, with multiple synths and effects.

    Yeah, the default skin is rather bizarre, but there’s a wonderful skin in the works now. Just scroll down a bit:

    Actually it all worked from the first time here.

    Anyways, I’ve been testing it almost all day long, and WOW. I am extremely surprised, pleased and grateful alike. Awesome quality, and x64!
    I will not be able to afford a hardware moog (or any hardware synth, and other things, for that matter) even if I save for the rest of my life, so this is the closest we, broke musicians, will ever get.
    As for the effects part: TAL Chorus, TAL Delays, TAL Filter, Nick Crow Tube Driver, and the today-released DDMF ColourEQ give spectacular results.

    Ah, minimogueVA/LUXUS, I’ve been using them for years (and they received numerous updates in the last month, the latest of which just a week or so ago), and always reached for it when a more “analogish” sound was needed.
    But minimoog V Original’s quality is so superior to my ears, and is yet another step towards a x64 DAW, so (as much as I don’t like it) I will have to let it go.

    For those struggling to download it, choose the torrent version, it works flawlessly.

    I guess it is Tangerine Dream time now 🙂

    Thanks for the additions Frits.

    After 30 minutes of testing Beta 2 I can say that everything works as expected, no quirks at all with the dialogs, or any of the new features for that matter.

    But there’s something I didn’t notice until now. I recently started to incorporate the “Pitch Bend” Automation (an awesome feature btw) quiet often, and it is extremely difficult (if not impossible) to adjust a point to 0 Value. The closest that I can get is -/+1, and that’s after ultra-slow and careful mouse movement. So, is it too much to ask for a way to easily set a point to its default value – Ctrl+click or something.

    As for the Adjust Dialog – I can see the benefit actually. It is much easier to revert all the parameters to 0, rather than recreate the settings exactly like the last used ones (if the need arises).
