Would you be happy with a default velocity of 100?

I’d like an option to set a default, but failing that a default of 100 would be preferable.

what’s the difference in copies and phantom copies? can they both be edited?

Any edits made to a phantom copy of a midi or audio clip will have the same affect in all its copies. A unique copy can be edited in isolation.

You need to first start dragging the event and only then hold ALT – the Windows shortcut icon will appear next to the cursor, as opposed to the copy icon.
You’re right that holding ALT and then clicking doesn’t work. That is configured to resize events without using the handles at the event’s start and end points (or in the note editor: when you want to resize notes while using the select tool).

I see what you mean now, though I’m not sure if the OP wanted a phantom copy or a unique copy. Either way you get an exact copy of the original, it’s just in the subsequent editing that there is a difference. I wonder if Frits should change it to ALT, then click/drag so it matches the Ctrl+click behaviour?..

or even simpler, select the event and press the INSERT key

    +1, even easier 🙂

Interesting read – thanks 🙂 it’s always good to hear how Podium gets used in the real world. I’d say that tune is in the ska-punk style and the tempo changes are typical of that genre, so you did a good job pulling it all together.

…I had to google more than mix!

Would this kind of video benefit from having speech bubbles explaining the mouse actions, or is the video simple enough to understand what’s going on?

I watched the side-chaining video and was able to follow it ok, but I think newer users would definitely benefit from some annotated guidance. Maybe you should pause the video at key steps with a text description of what you’re demonstrating.

Anyone know how this is supported in other hosts?

Ableton Live allows you to select individual midi sources but also has an ‘all ins’ option. In FLstudio all midi sources are always available to which ever track is selected.

New problems. Write any sequence and keep the floating piano roll opened, then move the clip to the right. Something weird happens with ghost notes:

I tried it and the ghost notes are in the correct position in relation to the time line. It seems like the time line in the floating piano roll should refresh when the clip is moved.

Ps. Thanks for a brilliant update. The coherence and user friendliness are really in evidence now. Nice work Frits 😀

One slight problem that’s crept back in (for me) is that shut down times have increased; typically around 10 seconds now from the usual 2-3 seconds. It occurred on a previous version, but I can’t recall when.

The default dial position of the pitch control in zPitch is wrong when enabled in the mixer. When ctrl-clicking on it to set it to the default position (0 cents) it goes to -1200 cents. In fact it’s the same with all the controls in zReverb too. It seems that in the mixer, all the enabled controls default to the extreme left when using ctrl+click.

Unfortunately there is no way in the VST spec to request the default value of parameters, but I’ve now shared the code from the zPlugin editors so that the generic mixer editors at least sets the proper default values for the Zynewave plugins.

That’s fine. My only concern was that the zPlugs are at least consistent.

Right click on any track header in arrangement view, select Template->Save track As Template and turn on “Copy track timeline event to template”.

    Confirmed here too.
