Of course, at the heart of all songs is the amazing Podium. Seriously, I had no crashes, very fast workflow and a great interface.
Nice to hear some really positive comments about Podium… 🙂
Just to satisfy my own curiosity I tried the VMPK/virtual midi setup and it works fine here.

…What a waste of time. I’m going to have to look for other ways to guard against spam accounts. Maybe I need to upgrade this forum software to phpBB version 3.
y’know Frits, I couldn’t agree more 😉
Many thanks as always Frits – great stuff, and just a friendly reminder to update the home page 🙂

I’ve always hated this dodgy ‘game’ Windows allows and programmers play with users — fast and loose with dumping rubbish all around.
It’s no reflection on the quality of their plugins but the MeldaProduction stuff is really bad for leaving crap all over the place 😯
As Frits said, with Podium, you really only need to delete stuff in:
C:Users…AppDataRoamingZynewavePodium
Podium.ini, maybe the plugindatabase.pod and colour setup stuff
Thanks for reporting. I don’t think I’d have the patience to go through all that though 😉
I’m waiting until (hopefully) Frits finds a proper solution to this as currently Kontakt and Podium aren’t a good mix – which is a shame as generally setting up multi-timbral instruments in Podium is so easy.

I tried recording without using my sustain pedal and no problem stopping what so ever. It looks to me like perhaps clicking stop does not send a sustain release message to the plugins and so they just keep on holding the note?
I’ve never used a sustain pedal myself, but it does sound like you’ve narrowed it down to a quite specific issue – I’m sure Frits will investigate.
inventive, al fresco music and food – nice 😀 – looking forward to more
+1 to all of the above ^^
The Adjust Points dialog is definitely a bit erratic at the moment, for the reasons already stated. Otherwise, it all seems ok 🙂
@Conquistador: thanks – a little sagacity never goes amiss… 🙂
I don’t have GeistCM but it works in the full version of Geist. In the full version, you just click on a pattern selector and drag it across.

If you go re-read his homepage remarks, you will see that he is doing this full-time, not trying to balance this with some factory job or teaching gig.
If you’re referring to this:@Frits wrote:
Since 2005 I have worked full-time on the development of Podium…
then I’m pretty sure that isn’t the case at the moment (probably should update that info) and Podium is currently being developed on a part-time basis. If you’d been around a few years back, you’d have seen updates being churned out far more frequently than they are now.
For what it’s worth, I’ve been ‘on board’ since the pre version 1 days and have watched it grow into what I find to be the most comfortable creative environment for me, and I’ve tried most of the alternatives out there. Granted, there are some areas that need attending to, but I can accept that even if they don’t happen soon it still works as it is, but, hey, I’m not a ‘pro’ just a bedroom hobbyist…
Well yeah, as you’re probably aware midi routing in Podium is a long time and much requested feature which I can only assume is not an easy addition bearing in mind how long it’s taken to surface.
Programming is pretty much a mystery to me, but perhaps there is something about the base structure of Podium that isn’t conducive to this kind of implementation…I dunno?
Do you just want a (free) midi keyboard plugin? If so, there are a few available out there. Here’s one:
http://thepiz.org/plugins/?p=midiKeyboard
I haven’t tried it in Podium for quite a while but Phrazor was/is an awesome – if unfinished – app. But as it is unfinished I can’t see Frits making any efforts to get it working in Podium. Also, Phrazor certainly wouldn’t have been free had it been completed.
Regarding SonicBytes, the Phrazor dev, it was just one guy who got talent spotted by Native Instruments and went to work for them. His other products were top-notch midi sequencer plugins called Era and Est which were taken on by SugarBytes and can still be purchased through them.
I’ve played around with it a few times before and it’s capable of some interesting effects typical of spectral domain type stuff.
– though I have to admit that my understanding of the term ‘spectral domain’ is a little sketchy 🙂 –
Time stretching sounds pretty decent to me as long as it’s kept within reasonable limits – of course you can take it to extremes as well. The main thing though is that it’s a standalone app and as far as I’m aware has no plugin version.
