Just as an aside here, perhaps you could look to integrate jbridge (http://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/) into Podium.
It already allows 64-bit plugins in 32-bit hosts but I believe Cantabile has integrated it such that it’s more streamlined and almost seamless to the user.
Obviously, there may be business/licensing reasons why this can’t be done, but I thought it worth mentioning in case it help – or in case it stimulates you towards your own solution 😉
I’m using this at the moment for running Melodyne inside Sonar 64, for example and will be trying it inside Podium shortly (just rebuilt a new machine).
I think it would be nice if there was a permanent ‘default’ node on a parameter track, that would be set to the default value for the preset. It could even be represented by a different-coloured line across the clip – similar to the way volume levels, etc. are often overlaid on clips in other hosts.
Then, the left-most user-added envelope node would connect to this value, and the right-most user-added node (the last, which could be the same) would connect to this value.
This would mean that the user could change this value to override the default, or just modify with additional nodes, but the end value would always equal the start.
Hopefully that made sense.
I guess most forums get like this sometimes.
I’m rarely posting on most forums that I frequent, some because things just work so well (like Podium, for example) and some because the signal-to-noise ratio is so low that it’s just not worth trying to shout above the noise.
Mainly though, I’m either at work which means posting is killed by the ultra-fascist firewall, or I’m just relaxing after a day at work and so too braindead to actually think up a coherent post 😆
I suspect more posters will be around as the nights close in. It’s probably good for Frits when it’s quiet, as he can chill out and not worry about pleasing us 😉
Thanks for the fix Frits 😀
I’ll be sure to let you know my results.
@druid:
Stylus is certainly very unusual, in the amount of automation it offers – it’s even more frustrating because it doesn’t name most of them for reasons that should become clear.
It’s in the way it offers Edit Groups:
WHAT IS AN EDIT GROUP?
An Edit Group is a new concept in Stylus RMX that allows you to isolate any individual slice or group of slices of audio and manipulate them completely independently of any other audio inside RMX. Edit Groups are perhaps the most powerful sound-shaping feature inside Stylus RMX. Using them allows you to customize grooves and sounds in a whole new and very flexible way. Although Edit Groups are powerful, they are also very easy to use.
… and then offers every single parameter of every edit group to be automatable. It makes more sense when using the VST, and you can midi-learns the controls as well, so they probably don’t intend you to select a parameter from the menu.
Anyway, the problem was just in the way it affected the functionality of other track aspects, and it seems this is now sorted 8)

Hi.
I don’t seem to have problems with Sampletank 2.5, but I can understand your frustration. Just as a thought – are you running an AMD X2 System ?
If so, be sure to apply the dual-core optimisation patch, as I found that to be the cause of a lot of multiprocessor cpu glitches.
Michael.
Ahh, that does indeed bring the menu option. However, I thought it did something else 😕
Would it be possible to have a ‘crop event to sequence’ that would bring the start and end inwards until the first/last note ? Kind of like a ‘trim’.
Michael.
Just a slight Bump to see if there’s any news of count-in on the 2.0 horizon ?
Thanks for the welcome 😀
I seem to have sorted out the CPU glitches… Seems after my last install I forgot I needed the AMD ‘gaming timing’ patch that fixes problems with X2 processors when applications (usually games) use some of the core timing routines.
I’d applied this last time and not thought much of it. After re-applying it, I don’t seem to get the rolling CPU glitches, and I can run Stylus and atmosphere together in multiprocessor mode 8)
I’ll keep an eye on it just in case.
Michael.
Hey Frits.
I’ve sent the pod file as requested.
I’ve also gone ahead and finally bought a copy of Podium, because I keep putting it off, and this is just a tiny glitch which doesn’t affect me really at the moment. I’ve always been impressed with your responses in the forum, and podium is the host that seems fit most with my way of thinking 😀
Michael.
I am using a dual-core machine, yes. That may well do it. Something else to bear in mind is that my FL configuration – and I don’t know if this continues in the VST mode – is set to dual-processor, as they implemented multicore in FL7, so that may have some effect.
It doesn’t really worry me too much, as I don’t ever use FL in VST form – I just always install it regardless. I’m happy to leave those two VSTs out. I’m never keen on setting process affinity, as that defeats the point of dual-core 8) — I did, however, do the test for you, and sure enough it doesn’t crash if I set the affinity, so it certainly looks like you found the cause.
Anyway, hopefully it’s helped stop another crash situation.
Michael.
As an update, I removed the following two VSTs from my folder:
FL Studio VSTi.dll
FL Studio VSTi (Multi).dll
After this, Podium works fine. These are the files for FLStudio to be a VST within another host, and one of these at least is causing the problem.
Michael.
Forgive my asking, and I may be being silly here because I’m at work, and can’t fully test this, but…
Couldn’t the same thing be achieved by adding a group track ‘above’ the two VST tracks, and just assigning the single midi input to that ? I’m probably missing something obvious.
Thanks,
Michael.
(Just trying to get behind the thinking)
