I’m not sure about regular tracks, but I do know that live allows you to feedback the return tracks into each other.
(Look for the dub delay tutorial of the covert operators, to see this in action)
I didn’t reread the entire thread, but is there a reason why a midi out of a plugin can’t be connected to the midi in of the plugin in the parent track (if it has a midi in)?
If I want to put an arp before a synth, I’d chose the arp in the source slot, and then the synth in the first “effect” track. (if this gets implemented, maybe create a midi fx slot in the rack that goes before the source, which is just a matter of labeling)
This would allow midi plugins, but not parallel routing.

Hi all,
Does anyone like the idea of an “Automate VST Parameter” option direct from the editor(s)?
Might be tricky but seems useful to me rather than having to navigate to the parameter through a menu with a different layout.
Sounds like a great idea
I sort of agree with liquid on the favourites, but not on a per track, but per plugin basis.
This is especially usefull for complex synths:
I’d like to be able to configure the embedded editor of alchemy so that it only shows the 8 performance knobs and hides all the others.
Other than that: brilliant update!
edit: it managed to bluescreen my computer, while shutting down podium and pressing no to save the project. It might be a glitch in the asiodriver too. (after the bluescreen all my podium settings were lost, as were the editor profiles in the project)
It would also be nice to have the embedded editors start out minimized, or have an option to do that. It makes more usability sense to start out with an overview and reveal more detail on request than the other way around.
Today I couldn’t reproduce this, not with asio nor with directsound drivers. A bit frustrating, because it happened 4 times in a row the days before.
Ah well, it’s not lethal, windows will prompt to kill the process if needed.
edit: it seems that if I use podium for a longer amount of time this bug happens.
Use the save as track template function. (You can choose to include events in the template if you wish)
There might be a faster/more elegant way I don’t know about 🙂

Ok, thanks. Is this a feature that could make it into future-releases?
I’m not the programmer, but I doubt it. In podium an effect is assigned to a track. It’s one of the basic concepts of the program, and those are quite hard to change.
Only the two hosts you mention allow this actually, or at least, I can’t think of any other.
Slice up the file, put the bits on different tracks and effect away.
If you want to tidy up a bit afterwards: put them all in a group track and bounce the group track. The result is one wav file with different effects on different bits 🙂

Says its installed correctly, has device name and everything
Like I say I’m not masively bothered at the moment due to old style midi support.
I’m just trying to help, but all is well if it’s not really bothering you eh ? 🙂
Plug it in by the usb and look in the device manager if there’s an unidentified device (it used to be marked by a question mark icon). Maybe you just need to give it a little push by manually instructing it to find a driver. I know I had to do this on vista for some stuff.
Also try another usb port than the one you normally use.
There’s no point in waiting for m-audio. If it’s class compliant they are not going to issue new drivers.
I finally end up on a page that says the device is class compliant.
This means that you can just install the windows 7 midi and audio device drivers. If you need asio use asio4all. It’s what I do with my novation x-station. Asio4all actually gives me better performance than the novation drivers.
This is the best possible scenario really, because it makes your device support independent from the manufacturer
I just had a look on the m-audio site and the oxygen8v2 has 64bit vista drivers (try the sp2 ones, they’ll probably work on windows 7)
If it has vista drivers you can install those, or even windows xp 64 bit drivers.
I got edirol ua-1ex vista 64bit drivers to install and work on windows xp 64 bit (so it’s not because the installer tells you it doesn’t work, that it doesn’t 😉 )
Thanks for the headsup.
I was just eying decimort actually (might get toraverb too for that price, even though I’m swimming in reverbs)

Maybe dragging up and down moves the plugin in the hierarchy, left and right adjusts send levels?
+1. That would be it for me.
The problem with that option is that you would kill the ability of move/copy the fx to another mixer strip. …
u could, u would only need to start with a vertical motion first and then move it sideways, I guess.
I don’t think that would be so unintuitive actually. I see myself dragging in an arc more than a straight line to move an effect.
