You can create an empty event and place that infront of the event you want to resize and use ‘Merge’.
Good tip. Thanks. I’ll use that. Still, since I can expand to the right, and there is even a drag handle on the left, it would be nice to be able to use the drag handle on the left.
I figured out why I keep repeating this mistake. Normally, the timeline row is the top row. Once I enable looping or set a punch in point, the timeline row is no longer the top row. I keep forgetting and keep clicking in the top row to set the cursor except sometimes the timeline row is no longer the top row.
What I gather from the link you posted is that this is mostly a cosmetic issue centered around the chosen definition of middle C. This would suggest then that the sfz file and Podium give a different note name to middle C such that when the sfz file specifies C4 as middle C, Podium might call that exact same pitch/frequency C3.
So you’re saying that this is a Window’s issue with smaller window frames and it’s out of your control?
If so, it’s unfortunate because it just seems so natural on a Window’s platform to look to the top right of any window for a button to minimize the window.
I finally broke down and re-installed Podium and removed the config directory. I doubt re-installing Podium was a factor but wiping out the config directory and starting over fresh was likely the cure.
I now have the missing menu items back but no clue what caused them to disappear.

Your menu options appear correct from what I can see on mine (except for Update ReWire Mappings, if you’re using Podium Free maybe that’s why?).
Yes, I’m using the free version (2.3.7) which is why there is no rewire mappings.

Afterwards, I also have:
– Load Plugin Setup from Template
– Import Plugin…
– Import Plguins from Folder…
– Import Plugin Definition
Which is precisely my problem. My “afterwards” menu options have gone missing.

Rebuilding your plug-in database doesn’t help either, I assume?
No, but it does alleviate the need to bother importing plug-ins. What I was doing was just importing each plug-in as I needed it. Since those menu options are now missing, I’ve started to automatically load the plug-in database when I create a new project.

Weird. Please provide more details of what commands you do see in the menu.
I have the following menu items:
New folder
Add new bus interface
Update Audio and MIDI Mappings
Load Plugin Database
Rebuild and Load Plugin Database
Update and Load Plugin Database
Once upon a time, the import plug-in menu options were there.
I even tried the repair option from the install program. No apparent effect.
I may have to delete the config file, uninstall podium and re-install it but if I can, I’d like to figure out what I’ve done so that I don’t cause this problem again.
All of my projects suffer from the same problem now, old and new.
I tried restoring the default setup but it didn’t fix the problem.
and you want to adjust its timing so it would sound like as you played it.
Have you tried the “Randomize note timing” option in track properties?
I’ve tried all sorts of things including deleting sfz+ entirely and unzipping it again.
Further research suggested that oddly enough, adding more RAM could be related to the problem. Ironically, a few other people had this problem arise after upgrading from 2G to 3G RAM. I also recently went from 2G to 3G RAM. So one suggestion was to remove the extra RAM.
Before I tried removing any RAM, I also read a suggestion to load the Sound Font in PR32 mode instead of SF32 or SF16 mode. I’m not sure what these modes are BUT, it seems to have made a difference. The memory error went away and I can still use my 3G of RAM.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but still have the same problem. I can’t figure this out. I have another project that is quite happily using sfz+ and the Fluid sound font.
Yet, when I start a new project, and do nothing more than try to load a sound font in to Sfz+ or Sfz, I get the memory error.
Thank you. This is all starting to make sense to me now.
To clarify, I can load a VSTi such as DSK Overture or I can load sfz+ and into that, I can load a sound font.
So, I’m curious about the pros and cons of using a VSTi vs using sfz+ (for example) and sound font files. I’m curious about memory usage, processor load, stability, sound quality, availability of free VSTis and sound fonts.
Ok, I now see how to use 2 tracks, one empty and one with midi data as in your first picture.
I was able to use a single track by editing the device map as you suggested but I’m not 100% clear on the numbers I had to use.
For example. I added “sfz+ Out 7 + 8” to my arrangement. I placed some midi data in the track. I opened up sfz, set channel 7 to a flute sound. I set the output in sfz to 4. I can only guess that it needs to be set to 4 because “sfz+ Out 7 + 8” is the 4th output track. I edited the device mapping and set the Midi output configuration to channel 7 (which I assume has to match the channel I set in the sfz plugin) I set the Audio configuration “Mixer input, First Channel” to 7. If I set it to 1 .. 5, I get silence (even though “sfz+ Out 1 + 2”, 3 + 4, 5 + 6 are in my arrangement and not muted). If I set the first channel to 6 I get output from the right channel only. Setting it to 8 I get sound from the left channel only. Mixer output is left alone (set to none). I think I’m getting closer to understanding this but there are some oddities that escape me (like “first” channels 6 and 8 providing output from one speaker only)
