I would agree. This is where I see benefit with templates. To be quite honest I doubt that I would have much of a need for a template within a project. But then I might have a different context of a project.
I see what you mean. This is really dependent on one’s own workflow. If you have one song per project, the template feature won’t give you any help. But when having like 15 songs in one project, you certainly can benefit from it. But as I stated before, with the current project structure, it won’t be possible to copy the templates, I guess.. 🙁
Your suggestion is very good for Track templates but the FR I suggested for this thread is quite different as it would operate with the New Track and New child Track options when right clicking a track in the ‘main’ arranger (not the track template arranger).
I think we mean the same 😉 If Frits would put some template tracks in the template arranger by default, you could easily “load” them (without mappings attached) by clicking under “create child tracks”.. With a submenu, which can easily be created by putting the tracks in a group beforehand, this feature seems to be exactly what you suggested, unless I am completely misunderstanding you. But I think I got you right. 😉

Podium lacks some quantize features in my opinion. Perhaps a basic groove feature would do the job for the start. Non-destructive of course. I mean Podium already has quantize features, but for drums they are useless.
Yes a groove feature of some sort would be nice unless Podium has it already and I missed it. IMHO the quantize features are not useless for drums at all, but of course everyone has their way of working with their own preferences, but your groove suggestion would be a definite step up from the features we have now IMO. 😉
But this should of course be after the lond awaited audio fade feature! 😉
Just reminding you…

Agreed, after that please. 8)
Perhaps I’ve put it the wrong way 😳 Actual quantization is not useless for drums. You can quantize hard, but in terms of humanization of a drum track, there is nothing in it. For drums most people use short midi notes, and as Frits stated some time ago, the midi randomization does not work on such short notes. That’s what I meant 🙂
I must admit, I am longing for a change in the actual system of template tracks, that allows me to copy the template track to another project. The templates can make live so much easier, but having to create them all over again is quite time consuming.. 🙁
EDIT: But I assume, due to the layout of Podium’s project structure, this won’t be possible. At least we can copy the pure layout without the mappings assigned. Or we can copy the whole project and delete everything, we do not need.. 🙂
Perhaps Frits could help here as the new track template feature is implemented now.
Frits could by default create a template arrangement, that also by default holds a group track named “several tracks”. This group track holds track templates for e.g. “5 Tracks”, “10 tracks” and “15 tracks”. This is how I have changed my template arrangements.
So the old feature from the project wizard would find a new home in the template feature.
+1!!
A simple compressor that is nicely integrated into Podium’s engine will be very useful. I haven’t found a comp for daily use yet. So I am open minded. 😀
😀 THAT is a good message to hear, and a great coincidence!! 8)
The “About Page” could need a few additions now.
The powerful track template feature for instance! 😆
And for those who are searching for features like audio fades etc. you could add a few lines beneath, that are a kind of short term future road map. Catching customers.. That’s all what it is about! 😉

This has occasionally annoyed me too, but somehow I never got around to fixing this bug . I’ll fix it for 1.71.
Thanks for that!! 🙂

Because when we use the tamplate arrangement to visually categorize and sort the templates, coloring them inside the template arrangement is highly useful imo.
So, you want the template tracks to inherit the color from the template parent track when copied to another arrangement? If so, that should be easy to do.
Exactly. 🙂
@Zynewave wrote:
But it would be great if colors would be recalled, too!
The colors on the actual tracks copied to/from templates are recalled. Colors you define manually on the “template” placeholder tracks are not used when you insert new template tracks.
Could this be possible in the future? Because when we use the tamplate arrangement to visually categorize and sort the templates, coloring them inside the template arrangement is highly useful imo.

I am testing and testing the new template feature and I love it!! 😆
But it would be great if colors would be recalled, too! I have coloured all my template tracks in order to have some visual help. When I use these templates in other arrangements, the color is not recalled. Perhaps this is on purpose, but it would be great to have the same color for certain fx chains e.g.
What do you think about it?
Right! 😉
