Another little one : the track header of topmost tracks disappear when the arrangement has been scrolled to the bottom if the tracks are reduced.
They reappear when some change is made in the track zone.

Confirmed on my system as well. It happens to the Master track at the top but only when it is minimized.

I gotta say that I see some promise in the first rendition (glassy buttons). I mean, I see why you guys like the readout on the button but for me its not that necessary.

Frits, is there anyway to put a little beta version with the new buttons out there so that we could see how it works out in everyday use?

Sorry, I prefer the old ones 😉
I don’t find the drop look convenient with the rest of the GUI style.

They do look like little water drops don’t they. Hmmph 😆

The track header meters now show RMS meters similar to the mixer.

Is that with the Peaks holding as shown in the picture on the Master track?

The meters can be configured as either horizontal or vertical meters. I’m now using the vertical mode as default. The horizontal meters left little room for the track name.

Looks a little nicer vertically. Provides a nice visual divider between the track and arrangement area. I like it. Once I have my levels set on input I rarely look back at these meters so I’m definitely ok with it like this.

The BRXE buttons shown in the inspector group panel and the chain panels are now optional. Instead shift/alt/ctrl + clicking the device name will behave like the new 2.04 mixer defaults. Colored frames are drawn around the device names to indicate bypass, edit and record state. The buttons were perhaps more accessible than modifier+clicking, but the buttons occupied a lot of screen space. Anybody still prefer the old button style?

For me the “E” button does not fit the “state” scenario. Bypass & Record are states and I don’t have a problem Shift + clicking here. As a matter of fact I would think that only one modifier key would be needed. And this way a user would just circle through the different states. However, I think Edit is a different beast. My opinion on this is that simply clicking or double-clicking on the name of the effect should bring up the editor.

I was never happy with the old track header pan/gain faders. They were a bit “heavy”, and seen from a distance the track headers would blur together. The new fader style I’m trying here stands out better, and they have the glass-look also used for the mixer faders.

    Sounds/Looks good.

I’ve extended the fader/dial option to apply to all dials, and not only the track header pan/gain faders. How would you prefer to configure this: Should it be a “show faders instead of dials” option in preferences which then applies to the entire UI, or should it be multiple local options in the tracks region properties and the inspector properties etc.?

I would think a global option would suffice here. But I won’t be offended if additional options were offered.

What I do mind is having to wade through giant menu’s that offer 15 variations on every theme/option/selection just to get to what I need. Reaper is looking this way nowadays and it drives me nuts. I don’t mind things sitting behind the scenes this way but sitting 80% of the options in a context sensitive menu is not what I find useful. 🙂

It is the sort of thing I do perhaps 20 time a minute, several hours a day, 7 days a week…

This is one of the things that I put under the title of “workflow” not just ergonomics. And workflow is the single most important aspect I look for in any app that use heavily.

I too zoom in/out alot. And I scroll a great deal as well. Most mice have a wheel now and I like it when I can use it in tandem with a modifier key. For Instance:

    Scroll wheel = scroll right/left
[Shift] + Scroll wheel = zoom in/out with mouse cursor at the anchor point
[Ctrl] + Scroll wheel = scroll entire arrangement window up/down

I like the key-modifier idea. I wouldn’t need it in the track area as much but it would be useful just the same. As it is right now you can change the loop in/out markers even if you are not using the loop cursor mode. I have changed the markers by mistake quite a few times.

I T3 you set the in/out markers using “I” & “O”. You just move the cursor to where ever you want and then press what you need. Never tripped me up as much as having to click them in Podium.

    1. Agreed. [Frits suggested increasing the area around the play head and it helped. However, clicking in an open area in the arrangement is an old habit and shared in some of the other apps I use.]

    2. I’d like to see the opption to assign keyboard shortcuts to most things so I’ll give this an “Agreed” as well. I change these tools often when editing midi.

    3. This I don’t understand. Could you clarify?

I think I’ve tried all the free offerings and this one came out tops. Although released as magazineware it is available free directly from Nugen’s website.

    Thanks rinxai.

Yes, it does give more space for this but it would work better for me if the loop markers [and punch markers] stayed put. As it is, even when not in loop edit or punch edit mode, I can move those markers when moving the edit cursor.

    Thanks for the response though.

Is this still in the works?
