    IMO they nailed it with the original xbox. I got to the place where I wouldn’t even buy a game unless it was multi-player. I’d sit there and talk smack all day while playing. So with that in mind I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

    Just keep in mind that Atari, Nintendo & Sega were once the kings. Gamers show no love/loyalty if a company slips up. MS better get it right.

    Amazing? Maybe. There is something to be said for it being brought to the masses via MS. So on that note I’ll nod my head yes. But for the most part it looks like MS wants the non-gamer crowd. I’ll explain…

    My old roommate is probably what most would consider the antithesis of a gamer. He is from that spoken-word crowd and usually doesn’t care for pop-culture at all (except as a topic of ridicule). Well, he bought a Wii because someone he new had it. That person told him how much fun they had playing the tennis and bowling and blah-blah… So he get’s it and plays it everyday. Me, I tried it and after a while decided it wasn’t my thing. Not that it was bad, no not at all. But it didn’t appeal to that part of me that grew up playing every game under the sun. And it surely did not provide the same pleasure derived from playing any of my Xbox games.

    So he throws a party and all of the people (except myself) are of the same ilk as my roommate, late twenties to early forties with the same interests… They played the thing all night. They absolutely loved it.

    As soon as I played the vid in the link, I thought of them. Will a lot of people like this new found toy? Yes. I just don’t see much there that will appeal to hardcore gamers. Even if the responses from the console are accurate with good tracking and all I think most “gamers” won’t really take to it. I’ve been wrong in the past though. Fro reference I like Racing and Real/Turn Based Strategy Games. Think Forza/Gotham Racing and AoE/Civilization. Oh and an honorable mention to Worms 🙂

    I think most apps that have this call them preset “chains”. Not a bad thing to have. I keep a few setup in another app I use for my voice-overs. I keep a gate-compressor-eq chain setup for each of my mics. I also keep a few chains setup for a few other people that stop by every once in a while to record. It makes the setup process a lot quicker.

    Oh, and one more thing… When you get back, feel free to drop the “NOOB” avatar, it’s not becoming of you 😆

    YES, it is! I can’t believe we got it so cheap. All I can say is that if you didn’t get in, well, you missed out on a good one. Not the only one, but definitely a very good one.

    koolkeys, I’m curious, can you get low, stable latencies with WASAPI? Also, do you know which companies have made WASAPI drivers for their sound devices(cards)?

    No info on the M-Audio other than I have a firewire Solo that is reliable as all get-out. However, I’ve recorded 6 at the same time with no problem using an Echo Audiofire 8.

    I voted for the “manual” connect. However, I (just about) never connect my pc to the net when I am working on music.

    Please explain what you mean by several piano roll regions.

    Beta2:*snip*

    Changelog:

    A new “find matching scale” command is included in the piano roll edit menu and context menu, if at least three different notes are selected. The command will present a dialog showing best scale matches, with options for applying the scale to a tempo event in the arrangement.

    FMS = Find Matching Scale

    I have a clip 4-bars long and a note at the start of each bar. If I select all notes and follow the FMS process a tempo marker is added at the start of the clip. However, if I only select the notes at bars 3 & 4 and do the same FMS process the tempo marker is still placed at the beginning of the clip and not in the timline at the first selected note.

    Is this intentional?

    So far the only use for scales are to highlight keys in the scale in the piano roll editor. Further down the road *snip*

    Any other uses for scales?

    1. I like it it. I’m not so crazy about this being linked to the tempo marker though. I would want access to this while I am in the midi editor window (floating and docked)

    Context help for the UI control under the mouse cursor can now be shown in a docked help panel below the inspector panel or the list panel.

    This really is a nice touch. Thanks for adding this.

    Custom scales can be configured using the 12 note buttons.

    How about a little save button or option so that custom scales could be saved and added to the combo-box dropdown list?

    @Zynewave wrote:

    Tempo events configured with a scale will show the scale name on the tempo event lane. The piano roll editor will highlight note rows that are in the scale.

    A little more contrast here may be helpful. Under normal circumstances it’s ok. But if highlighted due to it being a looped region, the area is a little more vague and doesn’t give the same visual feedback. (this is a small nitpick and not really that important though)

    I’m playing with the rest and will give more feedback soon…
