Are you considering selling Nucleum as standalone too? Perhaps this would shed some light on Zynewave too.
Maybe. That depends on what you guys think about the sound. If it is good, I could try to set it up as donationware, and with a separate download. Synthmaker also has the option to create a standalone exe of the plugin. I’ve tried this, and the feature of zooming the entire UI to full-screen looks sweet on a 1600×1200 20″ display 😀
It’s certainly also on my mind that the plugin could be a good way to draw attention to zynewave.com and Podium.

Maybe I should rephrase that. I don’t intend to make a drummachine emulation with builtin sequencer. I imagine it to be a simplistic drumkit sampleplayer, that can replace the need for the Drumatic plugin in the current example project.
It would be perfect if this sampler could use the sfz format. Since it is open source, you might consider implementing it..
I was thinking more a dedicated drum sampler, which can be achieved relatively easily with the default components available in Synthmaker. A full-blown sampler (with support for sfz) is a far bigger project.

It doesn’t look “Zynewaveish” enough! There’s a charm to gain/pan knobs you designed for Podium and I would much prefer those to the “brushed aluminum” look you have here.
The knobs I’m using so far in Nucleum are the default knobs that comes with Synthmaker. I could spend some time trying to customize these, but I don’t want this project to steal away too much time from Podium development. I can always refine the knobs later on.

I would like to see a random button that randomly creates a sound..
I hope to add such a button in the center of the feedback orbs 😉
I have yet to figure out how to do this in Synthmaker.

I would make an early FR though…well two FR’s heh… 😛
1. Some sort of facility for sample import
2. An Arp
Sample import in an FM-synthesis synth?
I prefer to keep the plugin concept simple. Implementing multiple synthesis techniques in one plugin would complicate the UI considerably. I would prefer to create individual plugins with focus on different synthesis techniques. The next Synthmaker project I’m considering is a drummachine based on sample playback.

Usually with FM synthesis, one can define some kind of algorithmic relationship between operators such as A+B+C or A*B+C etc, providing for more possibilities in sound shaping (Hexter has choice of 32 algos). Perhaps something like this is already in Nucleum?
No such algorithm selector in Nucleum. My design goal was to keep the synthesis parameters to a minimum, and to try to avoid “type selector” parameters.
In Nucleum you have three operators/oscillators which produce sine waves. That’s what you set up in the left side of the operator section. The middle orbs tries to visualize how each operator feeds its output signal back as a phase modulation, either as self-modulation or to the neighboring operators. The volume knobs on the right side sets how much each operator is routed to the two filters. It’s a simple setup. Only you can get very nasty sounds if you overdo the phase modulation feedback.
There currently is no legato edit command in Podium, but it would be easy to implement if it is simply a matter of adjusting the length of the notes so that they stop at the start of the next note event. Is it required by GPO that the notes slightly overlap?
Sam, I assume you know that you just need to disable the “activate power when opening arrangement editor” option in the preferences dialog, and then Podium behaves as in previous versions.
It’s on purpose that I’ve set the default to on. Why would you prefer it to be off?

FYI: the bottom-right midi-in indicator gets moved “off-screen” when you open the Track Inspector.
Try reducing the size of the toolbar so that all the toolbar elements fit on your screen. Place the mouse over the toolbar, hold the control key and use the mouse wheel to adjust the size.
The 1.98 demo is now available. I’ve changed the demo version so that it now can be installed together with the full version. It’s installed in its own “program files/Zynewave/Podium Demo” folder and the setup folder is also separate from the full version.
Note that the two installers still share the “Documents/Zynewave Podium Projects” folder, so uninstalling the demo will remove the example projects and the .pod file association, even if the full version is still installed. In this case just reinstall the full version to recover the files.
The compact pan/gain sliders control the first track from bottom up in the chain that has enabled gain or pan. By default track lanes have enabled the gain/pan controls, so that makes the sliders pre fx. You can disable the gain/pan on the lane track, and enable gain/pan on an fx track further up the chain to make the sliders post fx. A quick glance at the inspector group panel can tell you where in the signal chain the gain/pan controls are inserted.
