Not exit, just turning the power off of the current arrangement.

Ah, ok. I didn’t realize that. Then the problem is not related to undo history. When turning off monitoring Podium will retrieve the current preset from all plugins, so the delay could be caused by one or more plugins or it could be a problem in the Podium engine cleanup.

Will the ~40 seconds delay happen if you just let the arrangement loop-playing for a long period, or do you have to do editing for the delay to happen?

    Mystery !

Indeed. I assume you are using the latest ASIO4ALL 2.8 beta 2. I see on the website that there are options for disabling the new watchdog feature. Perhaps you could try this, or maybe try an older version of ASIO4ALL.

I think the “Track” must over the Volume und Pan, or not!?

Another thing I’ve changed in beta7 is that mappings and gain/pan controls now appear in signal chain order, from bottom to top. Gain and pan are applied to the output of the track/plugin, so that’s why they appear above the plugin.

    Found a bug:

When deleting the last track in compact mode Podium crashes. Podium also crashes when creating a new arrangement with zero audio and send tracks. This happens with beta 7.

Fixed, thanks. Beta 8 is uploaded.

Have you tried the 1.95 beta on another PC, and if so did the distortion happen there?

Try switching to Wave drivers instead of ASIO4ALL on your laptop, and check if the distortion still happens.

it took 40 seconds to power off

I’m assuming you mean 40 seconds for Podium to exit, not including saving the project file.

Next time try to load another project before quitting, and check if the 40 seconds delay occur during the loading of the new project. This can help determine if the delay happens in the project cleanup code or the Podium exit code.

Beta 7 is uploaded. Further refinements to the layout of the group/chain panels. Added icons next to mappings. The input mapping is shown as well. Still need to revise the track menus.

There are no changes to the engine since 1.94. The track routing code has been modified to check for the compact mode, but I can’t see how that should affect audio playback.

Do you run antivirus, spyware or firewall software on your laptop? Maybe these will probe the activities of the Podium beta since it is run as an .exe that is not a proper installed application. Just a wild guess.

Do you experience the distortion even with a simple arrangement playing a single sound file without any plugins?

Is the distortion affected if you increase the ASIO buffer size?

One can easily bring up the Track properties window by clicking just about anywhere else on a track or mixer strip already so can you possibly change this behavior so that a double click on the new glass gain sliders at track level will reset the value of a slider to 0db instead of bringing up the properties window?

Double clicking the fader or the pan dial opens the properties dialog and sets focus to the gain or pan edit field, so you can quickly enter a precise numeric value. Ctrl+clicking faders or dials will reset to default (i.e. 0dB for the gain).

Create a new project or open one of your projects that still have the audio inputs folder. Locate the “Audio Inputs” folder in a list window (Ctrl+L) and use the “Copy” context menu. Remember to keep the folder collapsed so that all child objects also get copied. Open the project file in which you deleted the audio inputs. Locate the Devices folder. Paste.

i hope this is not at the cost of engine effeciency or gui clarity?

The new track layout options are done without any changes to the engine, so engine efficiency is not affected.

I remember something changed in my debugging as well back when I added support for dragging files from plugins/file explorer onto tracks. I implemented the IDropTarget interface, which has had the effect that my debugger halts when I drag a file over Podium. Maybe that is the cause for your Delphi debugger problem too.
