Aside from the gained advantage of having more memory available (if at all needed), what other advantages are there in using Podium in 64 bit? I can’t hear a bit of difference in any 64-bit setup I’ve yet heard.

There is no difference in sound quality, unless the 64-bit plugins have been coded differently than their 32-bit counterparts. 64-bit app and 64-bit audio processing are two different things. You can run the Podium 64-bit audio engine in the 32-bit app version.

If your multitimbral setup inside hypersonic always routes each midi-channel to its own stereo output, then you can ignore the 16 MIDI mappings, and modify the stereo out mappings to use the proper MIDI channel:

Open the Out 3+4 mapping properties and increase MIDI output channel to 2.
Open the 5+6 mapping and increase to 3.
    etc.

Then you just drag the stereo out mappings to tracks, and they will behave as if each track is an insert plugin. Double click the timeline to place note sequences, bounce the track to only bounce the output of that MIDI channel.

It’s perfectly ok to have both 32-bit and 64-bit versions installed simultaneously. The one you install last will be the one that by default is opened when you open a .pod file from the Windows explorer.

They both share the same setup folder and the same Podium.ini setup file, but there are separate 32-bit and 64-bit plugin database files.

I browsed through the DTXpress 3 manual. There is a setting where you can adjust the gating time between note-on/off messages (section 1-7). Could you try to decrease this interval and see if this reduces the number of missing recorded notes?

Is the first recorded note also longer in the other DAWs you tried?

Is the end-point of the recorded first note perhaps where the second note should start?

Is there any way you can adjust the duration of the note events on the Yamaha kit? Perhaps there are other setup options in the Yamaha menus that can configure how MIDI notes are transmitted.

What’s the exact model of your Yamaha kit?

The problem is not overlapping notes. The (random) notes are not there in the recorded event, but when i play them realtime they ARE triggered because i can hear them.

What I meant was that Podium may skip recording a note if a note-on is received before the note-off of the previous note on the same key. Try toggling the ‘use time stamps from driver’ option in the Audio/MIDI dialog.

The notelenghts? The first note is always much longer than the following recorded ones. Maybe because the first note is so long it prevents the second note from being recorded. It is peculiar because i have noticed that the second note always falls away

Only the first note when starting recording, or the first note on each key?

Does the missing notes happen around loop points, or can it happen anytime during a recording?

Does it happen if you record into a preexisting note sequence event?

What are the note lengths transmitted by the midikit? I wonder if the problem perhaps is due to overlapping notes.

Can you describe your recording setup and how you record the midi notes?

Check that the audio option in track properties is disabled on the MIDI child tracks. The error message is meant to inform you that IF you have something on the track that produces audio, then it won’t be able to play through the parent track.

I hope I’m not too late for this party 😛

Podium will only show/enable a pan control if it is placed somewhere in the audio flow where either the source or the target is stereo. If you autocreate a return for a mono track, Podium will assign a mono send/return. If you manually create the return track and the pan control appears, you probably have assigned a stereo return mapping.

    Hi,

Any editing you perform in the sound editor will be saved to the sound file. You will need to copy the sound file if you want to preserve your original sound file: Open the sound editor and use the File>Save As command. Any soundevents referring to the sound will be linked to the new file.

If the duplicated soundevents have a ´+´icon after the name, they are ghost copies, meaning changes to one will be applied to all. If you want to e.g. revert only one event, use the “convert to unique copy” menu on the event, and then apply your edits in the sound editor.

The current thing I’m working on is a revision of the plugin loading system. As mentioned in other threads, plugins that take a long time to load (such as NI Kontakt with large samplesets) can cause the Podium UI to momentarily block, leading to other related problems. I don’t know how long that will take. I’ve purchased the Spitfire Audio Albion1 orchestral library for Kontakt to have a large sampleset to experiment with, and I’ll continue to work on the plugin handling until all problems have been sorted. Don’t know how long that will take.

Beyond that, I have not made a decision on what the next step will be. Things like improved project/sound file handling (automatic sound ifle import etc.) is high on my list. I know you’re interested in time-stretching, but I unfortunately cannot give a timeline for that feature.

Have you checked if it happens with different projects, including some of your older projects that didn’t show problems previously?

It’s possible that you have dialed in a specific preset in ZynAddSubFx that has a license to kill.
