You should create a new track dedicated for system setup parameters under one of your tracks with a SW1K mapping. On this track you drag any setup or mode parameters onto the timeline area of the track. This will create parameter events that you can use to change the modes during playback. On this track you should e.g. always put the ‘XG System On’ as the very first parameter, to ensure that the XG card is put in the right mode of operation before your arrangement starts. This XG system on command will require a few millisecs to initialize, so generally when using this, you would start your sequences on bar 2 to make sure all modes and program changes are complete before the song starts.
Open a list window (Ctrl+L), use the right side file panel to locate your wave or MIDI files, and drag them onto tracks. Dragging a MIDI file onto a track will only import the first sequence of the MIDI file. If you want a complete track arrangement to use as a template for starting your songs, you could create a basic arrangement in your default project, and then copy/paste that arrangement when starting on a new song.
After you have imported it from the library, you can edit the imported objects as much as you like. You can also load the actual SW1K definition file as a project, edit it and resave it in the library. In this case you should keep a backup copy, as installing new versions of Podium may overwrite the contents of the library folder.
Ok, I must admit it has been a while since I tried this with the SW1K. I’ll do a proper check during the next few days.
Btw. did you receive my email? I also sent you a PM, that you haven’t read yet. Click the ‘You have 1 new message’ link in the title bar.
It should be possible. Before you import the SW1K device definition using the project wizard, you should select the ‘Analog’ and ‘PCI 1/2’ in the audio listboxes. This will create a set of properly configured audio mappings (i.e. SW1K Audio 1-2 Out etc.). When you have assigned an audio mapping to a track, look in the ‘Audio Parameters’ folder in the parameter panel to find the ‘Audio Volume’ and ‘Audio Pan’ parameters. Double click to assign to tracks.
I assume your MIDI metronome is set up to play on the built in synth of the SW1K? Are you monitoring the MIDI metronome output directly from the SW1K cards analog out, perhaps using headphones?
I assume you are recording through the analog inputs of the SW1K card. If you set up an arrangement with just a single audio track recording, and enable the audio metronome, then if you record something in sync with the metronome, Podium should automatically align the recorded audio so that playback will sync correctly with the metronome.
If you change the latency/buffer size in the ASIO driver settings dialog, does this change the perceived latency?
Maybe you could email me your project file so I can have a look at how you are trying to record audio.

is there autosave function implemented , i did not find…
Not implemented, but on the plan.
If you have been experimenting with the Sequence Profiles dialog, you may have removed one of the profiles by accident. Select the ‘Load default setup’ menu, to overwrite your current setup file. You need to reconfigure your interface selections after this. The setup file is not modified by the installation process, so that is why your problem did not disappear after reinstalling Podium.
You can choose the ‘Import File’ menu, and select .mid as file type. Doing it this way the .mid file will be imported as an arrangement with multiple tracks.
Alternatively you can open a List window (Ctrl+L) and drag .mid files onto tracks in an existing arrangement. This way only the first sequence within the MIDI file will be imported and placed as an event on the track.
I did not mean just stopping playback but also returning to the beginning.
Ah ok. There is no dedicated key for this, but I just repeatedly press Q, to move cursor back to previous marker until arriving at the beginning of the arrangement.
Hi Francois,
I have the SW1000XG card as well, although I don’t use it much these days since I started using a laptop as my main PC.
but with audio , i am not able to record anything.I can see the vu meter moving with the incoming audio , but nothing recorded
If you are trying to record on a track in an arrangement, then you probably just need to place an audio event on the track. Use the pencil tool to draw an audio event with the length you want to record.
I have also the problem of midiout from the VSTi…
Noted. Which plugins are you using that supports MIDI out?

Not yet. I’ve received a lot of requests for this lately, so I’ll be looking into adding ReWire support in the near future. Currently I don’t know how much work it involves, so I cannot make an estimate on when it will be implemented.
