Is the Podium CPU indicator constantly showing 100%, or is it only spiking occasionally?
If it is constantly 100%, does the Windows Task Manager also show CPU usage close to 100%?
Try bypassing one effect at a time to find which plugin is causing the heavy CPU usage. Bypass is the X button next to the effect selector. If you find the plugin that causes the CPU overload, then try to change the preset in the plugin. Sometimes CPU overload can be caused by denormal issues, which can be dependent on how parameters are set.
Make sure you are using ASIO drivers, to get the best performance. If you don’t have an ASIO driver for your soundcard, try the http://www.asio4all.com driver.
If you are getting clicks (CPU spikes) during playback, then try to increase the buffer size in the ASIO driver control panel.

1. Can you take the output of one track and patch it into another and record? In Live, this is so simple, and my workflow involves doing this all the time. I don’t mean bounce…I mean like a virtual patchbay.
You can’t route a track output into another track for recording. You can use busses to route audio between tracks, but a bus return will not be recorded like a normal audio input will. To record track outputs you need to use the bounce feature. Bounce in Podium is a bit more flexible than the bounce/freeze feature you may know from other hosts. The bounce mode can be assigned to any track you like, and it will render/record the audio output of that track. You can keep the bounced audio in place (effectively muting the sources you bounced), or you can move the bounced recording to a new track.
2. Can you route midi from one track into another and record – same as in my first question?
No.
3. Can you record the output of a midi VST or VSTi?
If you mean audio, then you do that with the bounce feature. If you mean MIDI note output: Enable the “enable recording of VST plugin MIDI output” option in preferences, and then you can record the MIDI output of a plugin to the track. You can move those recorded MIDI sequences to other tracks for use with other plugins. You cannot realtime route MIDI output of a plugin into another plugin.
4. Can you assign an LFO from a midi plugin or vsti to another track’s parameters, such as pan or fader, or the parameter of an inserted effect in another track?
No.

Is it possible “undock” the mix window ? This is very usefull for 2-monitors ..
Yes. Use the “New project window” command from the Window menu. Place this window on your second monitor. Each project window will remember which editor profile you select, so if you select the “Mixer” profile in the second window, the mixer will appear each time you enter an arrangement. Note that you should leave the “link project windows” option enabled (in the Window menu).
Is it possible “scrubbing” over take ?
No. I’ll probably work on this at some point, but I have no estimate on when.
Do You think about Mac OSX version ?
Perhaps some time in the future, years from now.
Hello,
Try the “restore default editor profiles” command in the setup menu. Let me know if that doesn’t make the curve editor available.
Just a note to end this topic:
I have purchased my GPO4 upgrade, and the latest Podium 2.28 fixed the import issues with GPO4. GPO4 doesn’t support surround sound, so that’s why it crashed when trying to use it in a surround setup within Podium.
Confirmed. I’ll fix this for 2.29. I’m doing minor stuff in 2.29, so I plan to release it within a week or two.
I don’t know. Can you give me some more details:
Is this a new problem that started with a particular Podium update?
Which URS plugins have this problem?
Are there any URS plugins that works ok?
Are you trying to save presets in the URS plugin editor or with the Podium preset menu?
I see that URS demo versions requires an iLok, so I won’t be able to test them.
Hi,
was there a significant change in Podiums UI???
Yes, there have been significant changes to the Podium UI over the last year. All changes have been made in an effort to improve user friendliness.
From all pictures or videos I´ve seen, there was a visible “trackhierarchy”… Installed 2.28 today (I am a new user) and I don´t see any hierarchy anymore??? Neither in at the tracks, nor in the mixer…
The hierarchy is still there, but in the case of chains of effect tracks, these have been consolidated into an effect chain panel that you can find embedded in the inspector, track headers and mixer strips.
Another question: In many pictures of the mixer, the busses appeared at the right of the window…
If I create a bus (create a track, choose return 1 as source), it appears as “normal” track in the same order as normal tracks…
That was a recent change to the default setup that came with the introduction of track tags. You can dock the bus returns by selecting View/Customize Region/Mixer and then set Bus Returns to “Dock at right side”.
In another post here, I´ve read something about create a childtrack…How can I do this??? My guess would be to create a track and set it to group, create another track and drag it onto the group track…
Yes, that’s one way to do it. You can also right click the group track and select “add new child track”.
The features in the 2.28 release was implemented based on user requests, so it was not on my original plan. This means that 2.28 and maybe even 2.29 won’t have the improvements to the Mackie support. Sorry about that.
I’ve uploaded a “MIDI file tutorial” video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV1Eg7zToZw
The video also demonstrates the new project page.
I’ve uploaded the MIDI file tutorial video I mentioned in the post above:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hV1Eg7zToZw
In the video the sound of OmniSynth is compared with the Microsoft GS Synth, and the free sfz+ plugin loaded with the FluidR3 GM soundfont.

I mean how can I make a track to go to a certain output? I’ve only got the master bus that allows me to select a single stereo output at a time. I just can’t figure it out, tried it with sends already and that didn’t work either.
You need to drag the second audio output from the inspector list, and drop it below the last track, to create a new master track. Under this new master track you can then either place the track you want to output to the master, or place a bus return and use the corresponding bus send on the tracks under the first master.

The recent projects listbox uses a wrong background color, it seems – probably a tiny bug.
It’s transparent. Load a background wallpaper, and you’ll see. I changed it to emphasize that this list does not contain objects in the current project, as the other two lists. I also have some plans for further changes to the recent projects list.
