In Beta3 – The new sliders are nice but they end up taking up 2 lines in the mixer channel. So after a few FX tracks are added my mixer ends really squished. And I can’t get the rounded faders back into the mixer channels (see below).
It is quite possible that I am being a bit picky here but… Below is a screen shot of Beta2. Its pretty much what works for me. I like the rounded faders in the mixer area. I don’t mind that the dials in the mixer for the sends are not idential to the sliders in the tracks for the sends. In my mind this works. I like the clean and easy to read track headers. I like that the mixer area is uncluttered as well. I like the readouts in the mixer area on the rounded faders/buttons. To me the pic below got me the closest to what I would prefer. The new Beta3 does not let me achieve this from what I have seen.
O_O Was it always possible to alter Podium’s look like this? I mean, I love the grey look anyway, nice and bland and neutral for my tastes, but I have to admit some of this colour is really attracting me too…!

Thanks. 🙂 Podium has many jewels. That colour option is one of them IMO. Beta 3 looks much better with Frits tweaks in this area.

Indeed. Lovely image H- Man! 🙂 8)
@Frits I’m quite happy with Beta 3 so far. The smaller square / round glass sliders have a very wide hitpoint which makes them *very* easy to use. Thanks. That appears to be the case for all of the smaller sliders.
I can configure Beta 3 to give me the look I wanted. I’m happy. 🙂

Just an update on this. The “hit-box” for the sliders is anywhere on the slider track 😯 . Silly but I never knew this.
You can miss-click the handle by a country mile and still ‘grab’ it.
That said, there is a comfort element in being able to click and grab the actual element you were aiming for.
Spectrasonics might call this “psycho-tactile” 😛
These latest interface improvements look good and work great, especially the expanded clickzone. Thanks to user input and Frits’s deft touch, Podium continues rising to the occasion in superb style. 😀
@Druid, I guess that being able to save different color setups has been in Podium from version 1.0 – it is handy when you have different lighting conditions for daytime and nighttime in your workspace. I use a lighter grey setup during the day and a dark grey at night.

How do I get Podium to look like this (and with the multicoloured automation lanes below)?
aMUSEd, there is a color setup available called NightFall that’s in the default install, I think. If its not in the default install then its available in the theme downloads on this site. I started modifying two themes so far, NightFall and the SC2 theme(download). I also added a wallpaper background as I think it breaks it up a bit without being distracting. A little easier on the eyes for me.
Forgot to mention, SC2 is the theme Shortcircuit2, based on the sampler (even though I think this part you already knew). And the variation in colors in the automation lanes can be had by adjusting the the parameter graduation settings in the color editor.

And one question : how do we drag a plugin from one track to another one now ?
Same way as you’ve always done, unless you refer to the old expanded mode track header?
No, when I try to drag the name of the plugin from one track to another one like before the GUI opens (or closes), but it is not copied to the new track.
The same thing happens when I want to create a new track by dragging a plugin below the existing tracks. It doesn’t work anymore.
You’re right. I only tried with MIDI/audio inputs. I forgot that this was not possible with plugin mappings. I have now fixed this by making the plugin editor open/close occur on mouse release instead of on mouse down clicking. That way you can click and drag plugins. Please try it out in the new beta4.

Design : could the vertical bar at the right edge of the meters be set thinner ?
I have tried with thinner meters, but I think that made stereo meters appear too small.
Future : do you think that you could (later) make meters showing all the available audio channels ? They could share the available space, and for more than 8, one pixel wide for each channel will be enough. If I remember well, it is how it is done in Nuendo.
Yes, in a future update.

In the new beta4 there are separate combobox settings for gain/pan/send in the mixer region properties. That should allow for all possible combinations of dials/sliders. Let me know if you still find something that you can’t configure the way you prefer.

Since I know you didn’t have to do this for us(me) let me say, Thanks.
I had no problems setting things up and it is just how I wanted it 😀

Using a double click for opening a editor/menu in the mixer region properties does not work anymore.
Hi,
Just a couple of things to report on 2.05 Beta 4:
1. The first effect track applied to a bounce track doesn’t do anything (Cannot be heard). It seems to just become the bounce track? Any other effects added to the bounce track work normally.
Also, right-click to delete the effect track only shows the option to “Delete Bounce Track”
2. Setting the Gain control to Rectangular readout slider has no effect until the Pan control is set to Readout slider.
3. With a dark panel background, a light coloured strip appears under the top menu buttons momentarily when you hit Save all etc.
As a final note, is it possible to have the tool-tip pop-up value for the sends appear above the track in the mixer? I kinda feel it gets in the way?
And …as a final note to my final note, I must say that I really like the 2.05 changes so far and find all of the fader combo’s functional and visually appealing. But the best thing is having the choice.
Thanks Frits. 🙂
