Nice additions !
“New Insert Mapping” and “New Multichannel Insert Mapping” are added to the context menu of global plugin mappings. This will create an insert mapping that can be used if you don’t need the multiple IO capabilites of the plugin. The “New Multichannel…” menu is useful for creating a single mapping for multichannel plugins that by default are imported with the channels split up in stereo pairs.
Thanks, it now simpler and faster to do.
The device information shown on the start page no longer uses the generic “send” and “return” labels for all mappings. Instead “input” and “output” are used depending on the device type.
More logical for my little old brain…
“Show audio meters” option is added to the tracks region properties dialog.
I have not found it in the Track properties ??
Menu buttons are added to the track inspector title area and the preset panel. These can be used instead of right-clicking the panel headers.
Very nice and more obvious !
Ok…yes that is a very good idea.
It is not from me (it is in Reaper…), but it will be very useful for me in Podium !
I’m not so sure that it would be good, since every track can be audio / MIDI sequence / volume / plugin automation / MIDI controller / sends-returns… and, among all, on different levels !
For example, if you decide that the level 2 will correspond to what you are naming track 1, 2, 3 etc., if you decide to wrap all these tracks in a new FX one, or a bounce track, they will be named 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc. and you will have only one track, at level 2 named 1 ?
If you have the output track + a bounce track for export + two chained plugins, your audio tracks will be named 1.1.1.1, 1.1.1.2, 1.1.1.3 ?
I don’t see the benefit…
Or perhaps decide to have numbers only after a certain level ?
What I appreciate in Podium is this possibility to move tracks, change order, wrap, unwrap without dealing with static orders or categories like in others !
I very often change the level of a track or a group of tracks to insert a plugin, a bounce track or envelopes.
Perhaps can you begin your track names with a number if you want ?
Actually I have had these feature requests on post it notes on my desk for months and months and just never got around to posting them here.
I understand… I do the same !
And it is written beneath : do not post until fades / volume / groups are done ! 😉
Just to say : you are inspired today !
As Acousmod mentioned in another post…automatic tempo sync of any wave file through the List view.
Me ??????
Certainly not !
I NEVER use tempo. 😈
It was someone else…
Aaaaaaahhh, realtime time stretching and transpose when dragging edges…
Certainly the next step after fades and clip volumes (for Christmas ?). 😛
Perhaps that at some point we will have a docking zone at the bottom where we could dock what we want ?
Reaper does this actually very well (sorry…).
You can have the Media Explorer, the Plugins Explorer, the Mixer, a Navigator, the Routing Matrix, and all the plugins that you want to be there, all accessible with tabs.
All can be docked / float easily like in Acid / Vegas.
Very simple and very useful !
But I suppose that it would need a completely different approach of the windows handling.
I think if you right click in the left sided browser in the List view you can already create a folder and as a result rename it.
Riight click > New Object > New folder The term New object might be a bit confusing for someting that allows for New folder creation in the List view.
I think that it is only for creating folders and renaming files inside Podium’s browser, not on the drive.

– why not the selection of the first output for auditionning ?
I think I know what you mean but please explain… Wink
Yes..
If you have an audio card with several outputs, you can choose to listen the file from the first one (outputs 1-2 in stereo), or the third one (outputs 3-4) etc.
Useful to hear them on other speakers or through external effects.
Why not…
An “always on top” would also be useful when a plugin is on a second monitor.
On the main screen they are always on the top of the arrangement or the browser, but on the second one (at least when not in full screen ?), each window goes to the first plan when clicked.
For the plugins it is rather annoying…
Or is there already a trick ?
Perhaps starting with a more explorer like List View ?
– start with Computer instead having to search for a new folder each time we want to choose a file in another partition or drive
– allow to create folders and rename files (already on the ToDo list)
– a mini transport at the bottom to start / stop / seek playback with a volume slider
– an auto play and loop option
– the choice of the view type (list, icons, tree, details)
– sort by name, size etc…
– auto refresh
– why not the selection of the first output for auditionning ?
However, even though the restore option is greyed out, you can still double click the caption bar to restore.
Oh thanks !
Yes another thing that I learn here !
So it is perfect for me (I must I ask this before !)
In any case one for the future.
Yes, there is already enough important audio stuff to do before this !!!
You can maximize it by right-clicking the caption bar and then select the maximize menu command. The caption bar will not disappear though, because otherwise you would not be able to close the window.
Yes, I know, but the Restore option is then greyd so it is not possible to revert the window to its previous size.
Never mind, it is not so important if it cannot be done, I will continue to make it “by hand”.
Thanks.

And a request while you are working on the GUI : a maximise / restore buttons together with the close button of other windows, le the sound editor or a sencond browser would be VERY useful.
Thanks.I have now implemented maximizing browser windows so they appear in full-screen mode like the main window. This is of course only useful if you are using a dual monitor setup.
Nice, thanks.
But will it be possible too with the floating editor ?
I say that because I have it on the second monitor, for envelope and sound edition, and when I make more precise editing on sounds I temporary have to maximize it.
So a button to switch between the “normal” view and the max view will be very handy.
The labels for “MIDI input configuration”, “MIDI output configuration”, “Source channels/speakers” and “Target channels/speakers” now change according to the type of mapping. E.g. for a plugin mapping the audio source and target labels now instead read “Mixer input (plugin output)” and “Mixer output (plugin input)”.
I think, and I hope, that it will make things clearer for most of the users.
We were now used to the previous terms, but I guess that it will not be hard to be used to the new ones 😉
