It never used to do this. If a cutoff knob was at a third of the way round it always stayed there until you moved it and didn’t reset it self to zero every time – I can’t see any possible musical value in a knob doing that as it means the VSTi starts silent. A plugin should always start at the position it is at for the particular patch it has loaded – otherwise Podium is changing that patch at the start and affecting the sound (which no host should do). Similarly it should always retain the last position it was in when last moved for the same reason – it is me who should be in control of knob positions – not Podium. I can’t see what has changed it always recorded automation perfectly before. Flawless and set up free automation has up till now been the main reason I’ve stuck with Podium despite it’s difficulty in other respects. If I need to start using workarounds just to get it to record automation properly I can’t see why I should bother. It should not be doing this so as far as I’m concerned its a bug.
Just insert plugin – record midi – tweak knobs.
On playback knobs set themselves to zero at the beginning and end of the track.
Anyone else having this problem? Seems to be with any VSTi? Even basic ones like iMPoscar and Linplug Alpha.
Automation recording seems screwy with regular VSTi’s too – just recorded something with Alpha Cm and playback was all wrong
(Just realised 2.05 has the same bug)
I see – I need to record the midi first. Then activate bounce record and play the track back.
Working now
but for some reason it’s recording automation but not playing it back.
Oh great – now I’ve clicked on the B button again and the whole app has frozen.
I’m trying this now with my Virus Ti but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything. The Ti needs a realtime bounce so I have recorded a track and in the rightclick/bounce menu selected realtime bounce mode. However when I then click on the B button all that happens is 2 orange lines appear (instantly) but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything else (that was all I needed to do with the offline bounce for normal VSTis)
Do I need to select anthing else? – do I need to also select the realtime record ?(not sure what that’s for?)
Yes but if there’s going to be a proper track freeze (not just recording one track into another) I’m saying that should have a realtime option too.
(I notice now though that Fritz has already anticipated this and discussed it further up)
OK that’s a pity – it would be a nice feature. The way you set up a project does seem to imply this should be how it works though – it takes you through the steps of deciding your audio/midi interface and plugin folder each time you create a new project so why not have these settings on a per project basis rather than a global one? (or at least the option)

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I found a better solution!!!
I cannot drag the lenght of selected notes with the mouse, but I can do it with the keyboard, selecting the notes and Ctrl+plus or Ctrl+minus (select a very tiny snap value with shift+d/shift F). It doesn’t work with numerical keyboard but it does with the other plus and minus on alpha keyboard. I think this can be a problem of regional configuration (spanish keyboard).

Nice find 8)
It seems like Podium is very Keyboard Based. You can also hold down ctrl+shift+Arrow up/down to move the selected notes one octave lower or higher in the Piano roll.
😀
I’d rather do all those things with the mouse though.
I just wish it wouldn’t delete notes when I double click on them – its too easy to do this accidentally.
Hi
I hope you will have a realtime bounce/freeze – if it’s always faster than realtime it won’t work with many hardware/dsp synths and effects (even some plugins have problems with faster than realtime).

In Beta3 – The new sliders are nice but they end up taking up 2 lines in the mixer channel. So after a few FX tracks are added my mixer ends really squished. And I can’t get the rounded faders back into the mixer channels (see below).
It is quite possible that I am being a bit picky here but… Below is a screen shot of Beta2. Its pretty much what works for me. I like the rounded faders in the mixer area. I don’t mind that the dials in the mixer for the sends are not idential to the sliders in the tracks for the sends. In my mind this works. I like the clean and easy to read track headers. I like that the mixer area is uncluttered as well. I like the readouts in the mixer area on the rounded faders/buttons. To me the pic below got me the closest to what I would prefer. The new Beta3 does not let me achieve this from what I have seen.
How do I get Podium to look like this (and with the multicoloured automation lanes below)?
Thanks – people always use these terms without realising people who have never worked in a studio environment probably don’t know what they mean.
tbh I don’t know what punching in and out is 😳
