Never seen this before, what Windows version are you using? What were the names of the 4 shortcuts? Did they have the Podium icon? Did it happen when you updated to 0.91?
Win XP SP1 – All shortcuts were for Zynewave Podium, and had the Podium logo i.e. identical to the usual shortcut, occured when updating 0.91 to 0.92. Right clicking for ‘properties’ gave a size of 0Kb. Maybe nothing to worry over, as they disapeared after running Podium again.
Just tried to normalize like crazy on my system, no crashes. There must be something else in your test-procedure that is causing the crash. Could you reproduce the bug and give me more details?
Reproduces with the following recipe :-
– start new project
– import into project 3 audio files/drum loops etc. @ 16/44.1, and in this case mono
– in a new arrangment, drag them onto separate tracks, all feeding one master stereo out
– open each one in turn in it’s editor by double clicking it
– select a segment and then perform an editing operation ; normalise, silence, reverse etc.
– moving from clip to clip, keep performing edits, one per clip, without saving the modified audio
– sooner or later, the number of edits varies each time, Podium hangs with a ‘Podium has encountered a problem…’ etc. message. Task manager cannot kill the process, and a BSOD eventually results after approx 5 mins. (drivers not unloading probably)
This is 100% repeatable on my system.
Anyone else able to reproduce this?
No problem, I’ll upload them and PM you the links ASAP.
Might just be my system, but the installer dropped another 4 shortcuts onto my desktop, all of which were 0Kb 😕 and undeleteable, but which disapeared after running 0.92 once via the old short cut.
Also, had a crash after the following procedure :-
– Open sequence editor for an audio track
– Normalise
– Exit editor without re-saving clip (at that point i realised i had to.. ;))
– Repeat x 2 on other audio parts
– Podium crash after the 3rd operation.
HTH
Update on this with ver 0.92 :-
404 patches save OK, 🙂 but after exiting and reloading Podium reports that it’s unable to load those .pod files… In addition, when working with a project that has patches saved like this, response to a play/stop command becomes very slow, with a pronounced delay, as if Podium is reloading the patches on every transport start.
I’ll check if this happens with RGC’s sfz too, anyone else with a different sampler/rompler that can check this?
Fritz – If this is purely DS404 handling problem maybe you should take the limit back down to 16Mb? I’ll live with keeping track of my Multis by hand 😉 better that than intorducing anything which might mess up ver 1.00!
Cheers

. The latest 0.92 release has a button in the Wizard that does all this automatically.
Works great, thanks! 🙂
OK then, here goes 😕 😉
After a few days, and much head-scratching, finally, a tune made entirely in Podium 0.90beta. Written in the course of trying to get my head around the Podium workflow, and hence probably not the most polished piece ever…but i’m happy with it, and enjoyed working with Podium greatly, kudos to Frits!
Audio tracks, automation, a few VSTI’s, all features present and correct – in fact i was throwing everything in just to find out how it worked….:)

I think I will raise it to 128 MB, and hold my breath until someone complains this is not enough 🙂
lol 😉

Can we install straight over 0.90 or is it best to uninstall it first?

What are the size of the largest patches that you work with?
I have DS404 patches here from 7Mb to 60Mb 😯 🙂
DS404 stores all patch wavs internally inside the patch, rather than referencing them externally, hence the fact that patches can get quite big. This may well also be a problem with Kontakt/Halion etc, but sadly i don’t have them to test 🙁 – is there a particular reason for the size limit?
Cheers

If you want to store changes you make in a plugin, you need to assign a library preset to the track. With simple plugins you can use a program library preset, but for multitimbral synths that manages global setup in addition to program presets, you should assign a bank library preset. Use the track menu to access these functions. You will also see a ‘Sync’ button in the preset panel. When this button is selected then Podium will keep the preset updated with any changes in the plugin. When deselected, your library preset is safe from accidental changes in the plugin.
Got it 🙂 Except…..with the DS404 again, i get the ‘cannot store data…..beyond the 16mb limit’ message – that’s gonna be tricky with large soft samplers patches.. 😕 Anyway around this?
You can import wav files. If you drag them onto Podium, they should appear as objects on the main project page….When inside the arrangement editor, open an Object List (Ctrl+L). From this list you can drag the sounds onto the tracks.
Aha, knew it would be easy somehow, the Object list was the missing step, thanks! 🙂
