The way midi gets recorded in loop mode sounds an excellent addition to me, thanks!

The online help function added just yesterday for 2.11 is wonderful! I was a bit of ranting during the last weeks because I had tried to show people Podium and always got the same answers – and now that’s a major change i think. Wonderful work :). People test Podium, find themselves in need of help at some point – and get it!

Yes, energyxt 1.41 is w98 compatible, I’m using it sometimes because of the multi arranger mode and the tempo automation with envelope, it does not sync with other comps though.

energyxt2.0 is not w98 compatible, but I would not want to use it anywhere anyway. Too buggy.

I never tried, but I can see no real advantage of running energyxt1.41 within podium.

Hi, Pigini. Well I see your point of view. I just spoke about 1.41 because I use it myself inside Podium to get the features that are lacking in Podium. I don’t use XT2 too myself much, for example it is the first host I know of that lost a bunch of cool stuff from the older= 1.4 version, and indeed it is still very buggy, 1 3/4 years after release.
I like the Podium window, the automation and the bounce features really much, and understand that you find it just the better host for you:-). I would work with Podium as my main and only host if many things were implemented, and I can wait for them to be. As long as it is like it is, I use Reaper more and more these days, and it is a GOOD thing to own not only one host.
I might talk rubbish here, and apologize if it doesn’t sound right in the Zynewave forum, but as far as I know from bigger forums the race is now run concerning the many users that were searching for a new reliable host after the big XT2-disappointment. Reaper has won, and Reaper is a great host, for sure. My personal dream – but surely no priority for Frits or for the long-time users here – would be the way XT went – meaning you could load Podium as vsti inside another host. This would 100% lead to more sales for Frits, and people could use the wonderful possibilities of Podium inside another host of their choice. But that is leading away from your initial discussion, sorry:).

Dongles are something I hate, and thus I never had a dongle-product myself. The only one from Steinberg, for example, I use, is Xphraze, with a CD-copy protection system. Dongles or pace/Ilok, nothing of that kind led to fewer “crack-users”. I really am glad there are people like Frits who don’t give their software to people with “I mistrust you!” in mind. Those who mistrust users can’t avoid seeing so many of people steal their products, like they steal the taxes they have to pay in their country and put it to Switzerland or Liechtenstein or Monaco. It’s the same thought behind it, and is making developers angry with a reason, but no dongle made any change to this.

And, Pigini, correct me if I’m wrong (as I don’t have my old Win98-PC anymore) I guess energyXT, at least 1.41, is compatible. And you can of course load it as a vst and vsti in any Podium version that will work with your setup.

It is always interesting to be inspired by what others do when it is good.

Indeed, in Reaper it works great.

I understand Pigini’s point also, even if he’s wrong in this one sentence about “no pro is using”. (but that’s not important now;-).

By the way, just yesterday mailed with a user of another host who told me he loved Podium’s bounce- and automation-features plus the sheer beauty of Podium all around, but had difficulties in areas where other hosts are just a bit more “mature” (like rescanning of vsts, changing names, running midi from vsti to vsti for more experiments, and so on). So of course it is Frits’ choice what to implement first. Just comes to mind often that there *are* a lot of users testing Podium, then they get puzzled by something and don’t buy it. Which isn’t a good thing 😀 .

even if you don’t have a second monitor that’s a great idea!
