Probably a good time to update the Podium demo
The latest 1.66 release is available as a demo. I’ll probably release another demo at the end of the month when the start page is more complete.
Oh, I didn’t see that, because you didn’t mention it on the “Releases” site.
😳
Probably a good time to update the Podium demo 🙂
New users should get used to the new project page!!
There were tested the “small” versions of Cubase, such as LE and SE, Logic Express, Energy XT, Intuem, Reaper, Multitrack Studio and Podium.
Some others were only mentioned (with small pics and a website adress) in a small box at the bottom of the article, but these are too many to write them down here.
Yes, it is the same article. They are always one month ahead with their numbering, that’s why it is 10/2006. 🙄
They give a very nice review and even recommended Podium as some kind of “editor’s choice” (I don’t know the english term for “Empfehlung der Redaktion”). There is a screenshot given and at the end there is a short column with pros and cons.
Pros:
VST-Support
object orientated workflow
hirarchic structure
multi i/o
sidechain support
Cons:
lack of pitch shifting and timestretching (although they reveal your plans to implement this shortly)
They say you give updates 3 times a year. 🙄 I guess they didn’t believe, that a developer can give updates the way you do! 🙂
There is also a list with all tested sequencers with short infos. Sad but true, in that list they misspelled Zynewave.com (they wrote Zanewave.com). I hope the average reader realizes that mistake. But in the review, your web adress is spelled correctly.
The editors point out that Podium is to some extend far more flexible and packed with features than some of the “BIG ONES” like Cubase or Logic.
Considering the fact that you are the only developer, that they wrote an interview about, I think they must have liked Podium the way we all do! 🙂
I’m glad they finally contacted you.
here is the website of the mag: http://www.beat.de/
The current issue is new. They haven’t updated their website yet.

I like it! As I am a guitar player myself, too! 🙂
Did you use zEq or zReverb? I find zEq highly usable in a mix.. Fast and flexible!
Drums are Jamstix, right? 😛
I like the snare to be more “in the face”. Have you mixed the drums with all the channels seperately or did you just use 1 stereo out of Jamstix? You could reach a better sound for the snare, when using some comp. and eq on it. But these are just my 2 cts.
Good work!

You have one project file which contains all arrangements and sequences in the project. Only the sound files are saved as separate wav files, and they will be saved in separate folders for each arrangement.
That is very good! It will end the “chaos” I find in my project folder. 😛
The deletion of orphan files is very important for me, too. I hope this will come soon.

This will take ages.. to find all the files and delete them via a parallel browser. Hopefully you get this implemented soon.
Max
I cannot delete them via the file browser.. 🙁
ah, ok, thanks.. I will delete the “unpinned” 🙂
I still get the warning too on some plugin tracks. Merely VSTi tracks.
great update!! 😀
But how can I reorder the objects in the devices panel without switching to the “old” look?
Looks awesome!! Frits, you really should consider changing the default color scheme to the dark grey one you obviously like very much (I can tell that by the look at the screenshots you post here 🙂 ). It looks much more expensive and stylish. just imho.
Can’t wait to see 1.66 🙂
Now THAT looks stylish! I like the transparency..
Are the boxes scalable? I have a 15,4″ widescreen display and I like to avoid scrolling. Could you also give a screenshot with a higher resolution please?
Nice ideas!!

Podium crashed 20 times today when starting an offline bounce.Does the crash occur before the progress dialog appears? Or how far into the render?
It crashes when before the progress dialog appears. Sometimes I get a crash dialog, but more often the crash ends Podium without any information. I assume it has something to do with Halion (again, poor plugin!!!). I will take a special look at this when I go on with the project.
I also will see what makes zEq spike. Tomorrow will be a good time for that.

Just wanted to say, that my “biggest” project plays absolutely fine!! Many tracks in 24 bits! I feel a huge improvement!
