After working some time with the new 1.97 beta I noticed this:
No problems with all my plugins at all. They are all recognized as they should.
But from time to time Podium is crashing while working with effect tracks in compact mode. For example when changing the plugin map on an effect rack to another plugin Podium disappears completely without any error message. So far I was not able to reproduce this error but it happens only in compact mode. After switching to expanded mode all is working fine without crashing. So I would assume that there is still a problem in compact mode while changing things on effect tracks, in my case switching the device map to another plugin.
Anyone else encountered this problem?
Happy new year! 😀
Very nice! I like both the new detached inspector and the color picker.
Great release, thanks a lot! For me this is already Podium v2. 😉
One thing I have found/don’t understand:
When I create a new track and check the option ‘Use as group track’ there is no way to add a track to this group track via drag and drop. First I need to create a child track from the track menu in the group track and after that it is possible to add tracks via drag and drop.
Nice gift indeed! 😀

The new beta 13 has further changes to the track menus, including submenus for presets and parameters.
Looks good!

Beta 12 furthermore has a new track menu. I’ve joined the right-click track menu and the left-click object popups into one menu. There are new submenus for: “Assign Input”, “Assign Output”, “Assign Effect”, “Assign Source” and “Insert Effect Track”, depending on which track you click on.
The “Assign Source” submenu includes all device mappings that produce sound, i.e. instruments and bus returns.
I’m going to extend this menu with “New Parameter Track” and “Assign Preset” submenus. This should then allow you to do everything on the track headers, without having to use the track inspector.
Excellent, now it’s becoming fun to work with the track headers.
Things I noticed while fiddling arround:
a. When using the command ‘Hide Tracks in Group’ on a bounce track the plugin mapping and the fader of a child track is shown on the bounce track header.
b. After a while of resizing the track headers vertically and closing and opening the mixer there is no way to resize a track header to a smaller size. It looks like a minimum header size setting is active.
c. Moving the first effect track in a track header with the submenu command ‘Move Track’ above the next effect track does not work, moving below works.
One question: Is it possible to deactivate the automatic track header sizing when opening/closing the mixer? Would be great because all the optimized track header sizes are ‘lost’ after opening the mixer view.
That’s a great idea! Indeed it can be difficult to distinguish the currently selected track with the current coloring of the track headers.
Very nice, thanks!
Conquistador … thanks for answering. I know this feature but it does not work with multiple midi input devices. And sometimes I want a midi input stay on a track for cc messages and select another track at the some time or playing drums with a trigger finger and some pads with a keyboard or ….
Agreed, the “Auto-Assign To Focus Track” works well in a lot of situations but sometimes it’s not the best option and I really like how it works in the mixer, click, choose, ready to go.
I just mentioned this because it is the only thing left to add to the track header and the mixer and inspector can be hidden without missing them. For me it would be very useful but thats just me …. 😀
Agreed, very nice!
One thing is still missing in the track header. We can create now bounce tracks, effect tracks and we can map plugins to those tracks. What I’m still missing is to assign an input map in the track header. After assigning an input map in the mixer or inspector it is possible to change the input map but there is no way to add/change an input map when no input map was assigned before.
I like the new slider more than the old one. I also like the horizontal slider for the pan because it makes more sense to pan to the left or right instead of panning to the top and bottom.
Maybe those horizontal sliders for the pan should be used in the mixer too to avoid the current mixture of control types.
Found a bug:
When deleting the last track in compact mode Podium crashes. Podium also crashes when creating a new arrangement with zero audio and send tracks. This happens with beta 7.
