doh put this in the right bit now:
hey hope you dont mind me sharing a track with you… this is a heavier one I am working on at the moment … also it might help explain why I kept breaking podium! Concerning the beats at the end I honestly don’t think I could do something this complex as easily in any other host.
For the last year or so I have been doing organisational work, making sure that the various components in my tracks will as far as is possible not interfere, phase cancel or distort and always have their own space in the mix; also building a code into my samplers whereby using a different velocity always triggers sample with effect x for instance so that I have something powerful to play with but with as little time wastage as possible… Now I have to learn the system I have created, and this is the first thing I have done with it so far.

Done in Podium (of course).
real nice guitar tone, i like it! being a synth guy it’s cool to hear some instrumental stuff done in podium… you should flesh it out with some pads i reckon and you’ll be on to a winner.
Fix: Offline bounce could crash when bouncing plugins that introduced latency.
Cool hope this fixes curveeq problems.
Also you may have notice you haven’t heard from me for a while. That is because everything is going brilliantly. Also since I have been using a template track and the new “new>from template track” feature it has eliminated the need for me to switch the heirarchy of tracks which was the main thing that was causing multiprocessing to crash… now multiprocessing is working flawless too.
Thanks.
Doh, yes it sounds like the extra midi ports don’t work on cubase etc. or indeed anything else using vst… doh.
Sometimes I run out of system resources when master bounce is active, but I assume this means the plugins are still running but just not processing… It happens particularly whilst I am saving a project. I found out the automation problems I was having only happen when I copy and paste empty automation sequences. They appear to contain data but actually don’t. If I clone rather than copy them I don’t get this problem.
I would welcome some sort of scales tool… i.e you chooose a scale and all the keys in that scale are highlighted on the keyboard… at the moment i just create a track for the scale i want and use the track with the scale on it to ghost an overlay of notes on to other tracks so i can see the relevant notes there..
in regards to using multiple bitrates per arrangmenet… for instance i might use 32 bit floats as an input but want to output to a 16bit file… is it safe to just draw in the output bar as 16 bit and then use a dithering plugin (like that on elephant for instance) in the chain inbetween the 32 bit input and the 16 bit output?
sexy 😈
my music and internet pc has been moved to a new house so can’t make music or access the internet with that pc, because my old landlord won’t give me a bloody reference and I’m not allowed to contractually move until he does…. Not being able to make music sucks balls :(…
i guess everyone else is out enjoying the hot summer sun – at least northern hemisphere folk anyway.
doh, have moved to a house with no internet so might be a while before i can get this back to you…
ok i’ll give it a go when i get home… the main vst that seems to do this is spectron, although I think I have some others that require 100 rather than 0 to set a bypass. The reason I have probably noticed this more than anyone else is that I have been using 15 or so of them in a chain so i can dump the audio and resample it en masse for different drum hits. Trouble is I only need 1 spectron active at any one time. For now I will try using sends to eradicate this problem. I could send you this arrangement if you like, although it’s not that simple but it just takes audio as an input so I’ll change the input to a static audio file rather than kontakt.
“There is a very old bug with automation curves, hard to reproduce, which happends some times with sequences that have been splitted + clone phantom + crop sequence correctly made.
Sometimes old values that are no more in the sequence are active even if you draw other values.
The only solution is to delete the sequence and draw a new fresh on” – that might be it yes.
oh i see… this explains the problem i was having with a few plugins… does this also explain plugins wherin ‘100’ sets a bypass state rather than ‘0’ effecting a bypass state.. the 0 gets stuck on? Sometimes I have been using a sequence to set the area for 100 and then just ending the sequence and having a blank space to set the 0 until I need to reset to 100 again, and by merging the events inbetween and redrawing in the 0 have found this fixes the problem, but it doesn’t always work ie. where 100 is what I want rather than 0 sometimes it seems to revert to a zero on seuqnces.
oh i think I know why my bounce tracks were coming out funny… i had split them from one big track to smaller ones and forgot to use ‘set duration’…. but i still dunno why params are resetting sometimes when i hit stop or when the end of a loop is reached…. also the bounce bug is still happening… on certian tracks it seems that it will always happen, and if i record normally it fixes it.
yay sticky notes look well useful

I’m happy for you guys that you understand the implementation so perfectly. However, there are people out there who doesn’t, believe it or not. 🙄 Many less fortunate people (myself included to some extent) might need a push (or boot in the a**) to “get it” by some other means, be it a more educational explanation, a flow diagram, video tutorials, by having someone read the manual to them s-l-o-w-l-y and a-r-t-i-c-u-l-a-t-e-l-y, by forcing Scott Garrigus to write a Podium Power book with mostly pictures in it and only three condensed sentences per page thereby helping us to help ourselves…umm or whatever. 😆
By the way xis23, thanks for the picture! Unfortunately it’s too small for me to read! Do you have a larger version? Why not put your method as a tutorial in the wiki? 8)
Yeah it was kinda fiddly for me to understand it myself at first too, i totally see where you are coming from…. Gradually just got less and less instances of lost confusion until now I hardly ever get confused, but it was a little frustrating at first, especially in the demo because it was battling that and the timed audio cutout at the same time. I will probably upload my idea on the wiki eventually, although I’d like to generalise a bit since I’m sure everyone has different ways of understanding things through colour. I reckon a step-by-step illustrated guide on the wiki on how to setup say a reverb-chorus-synth chain and then building from there might be a good idea, I might even do it myself if I get the time.
