ZynewaveKeymasterBeta 17:
The “move track” submenus previously found in the group panel menus are moved to the track context menus. The group menus now only contain the track shortcuts. Also added an option to hide the group menu buttons in the inspector View menu.
Added a menu button at the bottom of the track list. This will help new users which may not know that you can right click to get this menu. The menu has been extended with a submenu for “New Track in Group” (if there are any group tracks in the arrangement). Using the old “New Track” command or double-clicking below the last track header will now create the track directly under the master, and not under the last group track.
I’ll reply to the questions in the previous posts tomorrow.
ZynewaveKeymasterSorry to hear this 😥
I’m afraid there is no easy way to recover your recordings from the cache files. The cache files contains raw sample data, but it is divided into small bits of mono audio streams which may not be consecutive. So even if you open the files in a sound editor that can load raw files, you could face a huge amount of cut and paste to recover some useful audio.
Support for auto-save and crash recovery is on the future plan. I’ll need to modify the cache file format so that it stores additional info that can be used to recover the audio streams.
ZynewaveKeymasterIs there any need for Effect tracks within a track panel to be bounce enabled?
In compact mode it is recommended to create dedicated bounce tracks (using the “insert bounce track” menu), instead of manually enabling the bounce mode for an existing track in the track properties dialog. If it is confusing that you have the bounce mode option available in the track properties dialog, then I’ll need to implement different properties dialogs for the different track types.
2. Extra track created automatically every time:
When creating a new track, a blank track is also created within a track panel in Compact mode. That is a nice way to start off as one can then click on it to choose an effect…well not really because this is what you will see if you right click or left click on that new “auto” blank track…I’m not sure if I understand you correctly, but there is only one track in the last of your screenshots. The line that pops up the menu belongs to the lane track, which should be apparent from the coloring with the select color. With the compact mode, it is recommended to keep effect mappings on separate effect tracks because this makes it easier to manage the effect chains. The “Move track” menus can easily shuffle the effect tracks and the “Replace effect chain” command can replace all effect tracks. This would not be possible if you assign the effect mapping directly on the lane track. That’s why you only have an “insert effect track” menu on the lane track.
ZynewaveKeymasterBeta 16:
Fixed a couple of bugs, including the bounce track bug reported earlier in this topic.
Dragging effect mappings onto tracks now inserts the mapping on a new effect track instead of assigning it directly on the dropped lane track. Likewise when selecting an effect mapping in the inspector map panel (when a lane track is selected), a new effect track is created. This way you can repeatedly select/drop effect mappings to create a chain of effects.
The 1.95 feature set is almost done. Please report if you find any bugs in the latest beta.
ZynewaveKeymasterBeta 15 is up. Added “Group separation space” and “Track header color opacity” options to the tracks region properties dialog.

Hi Frits,
is there a chance you could make the colouring of track headers and the spacing between groups an option ?
martI’ll add an option for the spacing between track groups. What kind of options do you want for the track coloring?
ZynewaveKeymastercould it be possible to have the track ‘windows’ expand automatically to show all VSTxs on the track?
I’ll work on this on a later release. It requires a change to the way that track heights are stored. Currently track height is stored as a scale factor relative to the total region height. Hence when you drag the mixer up, all tracks scale accordingly. I’ll probably change this so that track heights are stored as a pixel height, which allows for precise sizing of the tracks to the contents of the chain panel.
ZynewaveKeymasterThanks for the positive feedback everyone. It’s encouraging to know that these track layout changes are worth the development time I’m putting into it.
Beta 14 is up.
The track menu is now almost done. The track header right-click menu is now the same as the popup menu of the chain panel. New commands are “New Track” and “New Child Track” on group tracks. The track clipboard commands now also works with the compact layout. The commands are moved to a “Clipboard” submenu in the track menu. The new “Replace Effect Chain” command makes it easy to copy an effect chain from one track to other tracks: Select a track where you have set up a chain that you want to reuse on other tracks. Copy (Ctrl+C). Select the new track. Replace Effect Chain (Ctrl+Shift+V).
Still missing are the track template menus, but I’ll probably wait with those until after 1.95 is released. Dragging effect tracks in the chain panel will also come after the 1.95 release.

where can i find a description of it Frits , i am interested 😉
The Mackie Control support is described in the wiki guide. There is no description of how the generic support will be in the future.
ZynewaveKeymasterThe transport toolbar have two buttons that toggles punch in/out. You can also use the I and O key shortcuts to toggle these.
ZynewaveKeymasterVery interesting. Thanks for posting this. Are you using ASIO drivers? How low latency can you get without dropouts?
ZynewaveKeymasterDo you mean disable punch in/out, or erase all events inside the punch range?

Just a small thing but would it be a good idea to include configurable “Favourites” items under the “Assign” menus?
With a bit of manual work, you can arrange your plugins into favorites folders on the project start page. If you mean that Podium should automatically maintain a list of most used plugins, then that is not something I’ll implement this time around.

a. When using the command ‘Hide Tracks in Group’ on a bounce track the plugin mapping and the fader of a child track is shown on the bounce track header.
I’ll look at that tomorrow.
c. Moving the first effect track in a track header with the submenu command ‘Move Track’ above the next effect track does not work, moving below works.
Fixed in the new beta 13.
One question: Is it possible to deactivate the automatic track header sizing when opening/closing the mixer? Would be great because all the optimized track header sizes are ‘lost’ after opening the mixer view.
Not currently. I’m planning to change how the track resizing works. With the new compact headers there are more information shown on the headers, and it may then be undesirable that the tracks resizes when the entire tracks region is resized.
The new beta 13 has further changes to the track menus, including submenus for presets and parameters.

I have strange bug with all 1.95 betas. It happens when i create new arrangement, which have 4 audio tracks and all things by default. So, i have 4 tracks. Then i delete last track(using delete bottom), then next track and so on.But when i delete last track podium crashes. Sorry for my english 😳
Thanks, it is fixed in the new beta 12.
Beta 12 furthermore has a new track menu. I’ve joined the right-click track menu and the left-click object popups into one menu. There are new submenus for: “Assign Input”, “Assign Output”, “Assign Effect”, “Assign Source” and “Insert Effect Track”, depending on which track you click on.
The “Assign Source” submenu includes all device mappings that produce sound, i.e. instruments and bus returns.
I’m going to extend this menu with “New Parameter Track” and “Assign Preset” submenus. This should then allow you to do everything on the track headers, without having to use the track inspector.
