I’ve thought about moving the “Track” panel to the top of the list. What kept me from doing it so far, is that it will mean a few changes that may affect users workflow:

The F1-F5 keys need to be shuffled around, so that F1 instead of F5 will open the Track panel.

Today, clicking the header of an open panel will close it towards the top, meaning the remaining panels slides on top of the closed panel. This way the bottommost panel will always be the default open panel, and therefore I placed the Track panel at the bottom. If the Track panel is placed at the top, then closing a panel needs to slide it to the bottom of the inspector, i.e. the clicked panel will slide away from the mouse. Little things for sure, but that’s why I placed the Track panel at the bottom. At some point I’ll experiment with placing it at the top.

the new Big Transport I like very well but the the BSMR buttons
appear a little bit to massive for me, especially if the colour of the characters is black (=activated) and not grey (=inactive).

would it be possible to choose a less fat font or a different colour than black?

It’s not possible currently. Some time in the future I may open up for skinning the button images.

I initially thought this included the Piano roll which will change colour (white keys as well) based on whatever colours are used in certain parts of Podium. Not good.

something like an opacity option for ‘piano roll opacity’, like the one that exists for ‘track color opacity’ would remedy this nicely me thinks . 💡

I’ve added a “black/white key intensity” percentage setting to the piano roll properties dialog. Setting it to 100% will paint solid black/white keys. Setting it to 0% will paint with the colors of the current version.

If I may ask…why is there a link between how a track is named and having an option to select Device Mappings from within the Group Panel?

It was mainly an attempt to reduce the size of the panel. If the map selection should appear on all tracks, then tracks where you don’t intend to assign mappings (e.g. master fader and group tracks) would have an unneded blank line for the mapping.

But as I replied earlier in this topic, I’m still revising the group panel functionality for the coming 1.95 release.

Both the marker name and the tempo/time signature written to the left of the timeline show the last events placed before the currently shown timeline start. They do not indicate what is active at the current play cursor position.

Just wondering if it’s possible to have a “minimize” on the “Inspector” window. it turns out to be quite long when browsing the presets list (ahem, for me anyway).

You mean a minimize for the group panel inside the inspector? The inspector view menu has an option for hiding the group panel.

Maybe the biggest addition to the group panel yet IMO. Fantastic.

I don’t see where or what is this.
    Can you explain please ?

It’s only available on tracks with the “use name of object…” option enabled in the track properties.

    [*]Added “center align” toolbar element.

Lost me totally here. What or where do I find this please?

It’s a list element you can insert in the toolbar region properties dialog. The new big transport profile uses it to center the transport toolbar rather than the default left alignment.

sorry, your new BSMR. i kinda like the lower profile script. no big deal, just wondering?

Sorry, you can’t change the font for those. They are based on bitmaps. I first tried using the standard font, but it just didn’t look good.

I notice when I minimize my audio tracks my mixer view follows. Is this right?

Collapsing or hiding group tracks still affects the tracks shown in the mixer. The individual track minimize option (shortcut H) no longer hides the mixer strip. This is now a separate option on the mixer strips (shortcut Shift+H).

    Are the fonts optional?

Not sure what you mean here. The font used in the Podium UI is the same font as you select for your Windows theme/appearance (display properties).

    OK, it works.

BUT : please, can you allow this to work like before ?
It was one of the things that was nice in Podium and didn’t need convoluted actions to work.

I don’t know what is the technical point behind this change, but for me it is out of logic if we can have a pluging inserted on an audio track and can automate its parameters by drawing an enveloppe, but need to create a sub track and put the audio files on it if we want to record the enveloppe with the GUI.

This change was made in release 1.79 (7 months ago):

Sound events placed on record enabled tracks are muted during recording. Previous behaviour was that old recording would play while being overwritten by the new recording.

I may be able to come up with a more intelligent behaviour, but for now you have to place an effect plugin on it’s own track to record automation via the plugin editor UI. The next couple of releases will introduce more improvements to the track organization, which will make this an easier task.

Yes there is a chance. But at the moment my time is dedicated to the revision of the track inspector and track organization.

But I have just tried to put the wave file in a subtrack : there is always no sound.
    What is wrong ???

Did you enable the gain control on the child track? Otherwise the track will inherit the record mode from the parent track meaning it will be muted during recording.

    1. You seem to have changed the behaviour of the left arrows in the group panel. I found it quite useful to chose the hierarchy level via the drop down menu. This is gone now.

They have been removed temporarily. I’m continuing work on the track inspector for the 1.95 release.

    2. The new highlighted regions in the group panel, which open a drop down menu are so important for me, but I wonder why I can’t use this important feature when a track does not already have a mapping assigned. It only works if there is a mapping…

If you check the “use object name…” option in the track properties, then you can select the mapping popup from a “blank” track. This is also something I may revise for the 1.95 release.
