I’ve listened to the mp3 a few times and although its difficult to tell from an mp3 (curse those people that thought of mp3 compression) it does sound pretty good.
I can’t really hear much of an mettalic artifact to the reverb (again could be down to the mp3 process discarding the lower masked bits) so I am assuming you havn’t used the Shroeder process.

Actually so far I am using the standard Shroeder implementation for the late reverberation. However, yesterday I tried running vocals through it and noticed the distinct metallic timbre. I’m going to try alternative implementations, and experiment with modulation.

Sounds great! When do we get our mitts on it?

I think I can spend a lot of time experimenting and fine-tuning before I’ll be satisfied. Perhaps a beta will be ready in a week.

The program preset objects that are created under the “local bank” library preset are shared between all instances of the plugins. These objects are just handles for selecting a program number in the bank. The actual program names will depend on the bank that is loaded into the plugin instance on the track.

Using the properties dialog will change the name of the actual preset object in the Podium project. This was the old way of naming presets, but you should preferrably not use this method anymore. Use the “Name…” button or the equivalent “edit program name” menu to change the name of the program in the plugin. This is the name that Podium will display instead of the generic “Program 1” etc. names when the plugin is loaded.

So does this mean that it is only hyper-threading causing the problem, and real dual-core systems are generally fine?

As I understand it, the latest version that Conquistador and I tested was working fine for Acousmod on his HT system. He just needed verification that it also worked on dual core systems.

is there anyway in Podium currently to paint, as in drag out multiple copies of a midi or audio file like ACID Pro?

Not as a single event that contains repeated copies of the MIDI or audio. The fastest way to append multiple copies of a sequence event, is to select the event, and then press and hold the insert key until you have enough.

At the moment you have a scalpel tool, however, would it be possible to implement the opposite and incorporate a stitching tool

Select two or more sequence events on the same track, and use the “Merge” edit/context menu.

I just tested here, and changing a program name with the “Name…” button does not change the corresponding program name in other instances of the plugin.

What plugin are you experiencing this with? Does it happen with other plugins too?

I put JamStix on a track, select ‘Free Jam’, and activate loop in Podium. Playback over several minutes does not seem to do anything to available memory. Should I do something special in Jamstix to set it up the way you use it? Maybe email me your project file with your setup.

The Podium CPU indicator tells how much time was spent in the audio processing thread. The CPU may be running 100% doing other stuff, like updating the UI, but since the audio thread is high priority it will get whatever CPU it requires, and the UI will just have to wait. There may be other high priority stuff running on your machine, in which case they may block out the audio thread long enough to cause a pop (buffer underrun).

Can somebody that have a dual processor (I have only a HT) make a try to confirm ?

I tested it on my Pentium D system. When loading the plugin it displays several warning messages about unregistered Synthedit modules. After dismissing the dialogs, I added two instances of the plugin to the surround example project. I encountered no problems. I recorded automation by dragging the “donuts” 😛 and playback was ok.

Any reason why there were/are issues with clicks and pops anyway while automating this plug? Simply unavoidable or just too early in the development of the plug so far to remove completely?

I’ve minimized the artifacts when changing room dimensions, but I don’t plan on improving it further. That would require a lot of work and would also require more CPU power when parameters are changed. I think I’ve done enough to allow room modifications during preset design without having to turn down the output. Some of the Reverb plugins I’ve tried produce LOUD noises when changing parameters.

I could not really here any distortion having heard it. Maybe a higher quality file might sound different.

Maybe distortion is the wrong word. There are obvious clicks/pops when the room size is automated.

at least it has that TC Electronics clarity when it comes to buttons and text in my opinion. Think EQsat.

Just for the record: I had nothing to do with the EQsat plugin you linked to. In fact I never worked on the design of plugins at TC. I was involved with the design of the TC Icon editor for the System 6000, from which individual algorithm editor pages has since been ported to Powercore plugins.

I have downloaded the latest Jamstix demo, and I will look into it one of the coming days. I’ve got my head wrapped around another fun new feature which I would like to wrap up first.

frits the question has come up several times about developers not realy using there own software and being lazy about ergonomics and such. do you yourself use podium as your main daw?

Is that a trick question? 😆

Yes, I do use Podium as my main and only DAW. If I were happy using any of the other sequencer packages on the market, I would have given up developing Podium a long time ago, and spent the time making music instead.
