Yes 🙂 since I generally prefer to view my audio tracks and hide the effect one.

There will be some problems with this, like how far up should the hiding occur. I would generally not want to hide the master track or even group tracks that combines instruments into sections etc. I would think it is faster to control-click the track header minimize button on a few tracks than to select another menu for hiding all parent tracks. Furthermore the new method for dragging effect plugins onto the group bars will automatically set the lane as hidden.

If I have a level 2 track (a plugin) which has a level 3 child track (audio track), and the plugin track has a volume automation child track (level 3), when I hide the effect track lane its automation track remains visible.
To be able to hide it I must put the audio track in level 4, which is not in my mind logical since it looks as if the audio track is a child track of the automation track.

The hidden lane option was primarily meant for hiding tracks without events on them. If you hide an automation track, then you would not see the curve sequences on the track, which could cause confusion when you rearrange events in the timeline. If you want the audio track to be visible, then the automation tracks for the parent effect plugin track have to be visible too. You can minimize the automation track to make it as small as possible.

a “Hide upper tracks lane” option, because I often have an audio track and some plugins with their automation tracks above, so it will be nice to be able to hide / show all of them but keeping the lower track visible (the higher level audio track)

So you want this menu to turn on ‘hide track lane’ for all parent tracks, instead of having to hide the lanes manually for each parent track?

the wiew of the E and X buttons of a track together with the S M R buttons, when we click on the vertical bar of a hidden track. Actually, to show a plugin window or to mute the track I have not found another way than unhide the track lane (and eventually hide it after).

I have planned an update to the track inspector where the BSMR (which currently are shown in the info panel) and the E and two X buttons are shown as buttons on the page headers. They are thus always accessible for the current track.

an automation track that is not “Enable audio mixing” can not be hiden ?

I’m not sure I understand. Track lanes can only be hidden if they have child tracks.

when tracks are collapsed, is there a chance that there could be horizontal lines for identifying how many subtracks are there?

The previous track layout actually had a shadow line between the collapsed tracks. It did not match the new track layout, and I kind of like that a collapsed group appears as a full block.

    • Bug fixes.

However, you seem to have introduced a minor bug with panning though: If you pan any track with audio mixing fully left so the readout displays ‘L1.00’, then try and pan back to centre, Podium crashes. This occurs on both existing and newly created projects, and is easily repeated.

Confirmed. It took a few tries before I could reproduce the crash. The bug is not related to panning, but is related to the new code for the track headers. It happens because you move the mouse above the top of the tracks region when you drag the dial. If you use the panner in the mixer there should be no problems. I’ll put up a bug-fix version tomorrow.

    Thanks.

Well, maybe I’m doing something wrong, but it looks like a bug – I can’t change the hierarchy level of the last channel in tracks inspector area (I mean visual representation, from up to down) by dragging it with mouse. ctrl – + works OK. Tested it in different projects.

Confirmed. I’ll fix this for the next release.

I guess the fxp/fxb files that, after importing, have no specific identifying name have not been given an internal VST program name correctly ?

    Yes

Incidently, is there an easy way to rearrange the contents of my huge VST instrument folder ?

No, sorry. Drag & drop only.

Also presets sometimes import with no name (either from fxb banks or from fxp files (all of which have the preset name in the file title). Is this related to the original preset programming ?

fxb files do not have an internal bank name, so the imported bank object is named after the filename.
fxp files have an internal VST program name, which Podium uses for the preset object, rather than the filename.

isn’t the cost of living in Denmark pretty high ?

Taxes are huge here in Denmark, but then you have other benefits. The ratio between the salary of an average worker and the price of goods and services are probably similar to many other western european standards. When I worked at TC, close to 45% of my income went to the state. With my current income approaching zero, I at least don’t have to pay that much in taxes 🙄

I did this for a few fxb banks but all that imports into the library folder is an object with no actual presets listed

    e.g. “Vintage synth”

I almost forgot: Instead of using the ‘new program library preset’ menu and then using the import button in the properties dialog, it is easier to use the ‘import library preset from file…’ menu.

If you import a fxb file, then the preset object will contain the whole bank. Assigning this bank preset to the plugin track will load the bank in the plugin. If the plugin editor has no way to select presets in a bank, then I recommend you use the ‘create library presets for all programs’ menu. This will create library presets for the individual programs in the bank. After this you can delete the bank preset you imported, and then assign the desired program library preset to the track.

I made a post about this some time ago:

    http://www.zynewave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=627

I’m living of my life savings, which can sustain me for at least a year before I will reevaluate whether Zynewave can be a fulltime occupation for me. I hope eventually to get the features implemented that will make Podium “big”.

Edit: Thanks for helping out, Max 😉

I did try to drag the plugin folders into the “Instruments” folder I created but it didn’t seem to work. The dragged folder would just move to next to the “Instruments” folder, not actually INTO it…

If you hold the control key while dragging, the object will be dropped into the object under the cursor.

All device definitions (in Device Mappings dialogue) are set as “none” – so I have to go through each one manually and set it to appropriate plugin definition ?

If the definition is set to ‘none’ in the mappings properties, then that probably is because you have copy/pasted objects when rearranging them into folders. If you copy mappings and device definitions separately, then the link between them will be broken. I recommend you use drag & drop. This is explained in the guide: http://www.zynewave.com/guide/guide11_browser.htm#dragdrop

These are not imported into Podium – just the basic crap fxb. Is this a limitation of Taupro ?

    No.

There doesn’t appear to be a preset import facility in the Taupro gui – is it possible for me to still access these extra presets from Podium ?

After you have set up a track with the Taupro, and activated monitoring to load the plugins, use the ‘new program library preset’ track menu. Enter the properties dialog for the new preset object in the preset panel, and use the ‘import’ button.

    – the main instrument folder (with 100s of objects listed)

I assume this is the ‘Devices’ folder on the main project page. I recommend you create your ‘Instrument’ and ‘Effect’ subfolders under the ‘Devices’ folder.

    – often an “insert” folder with no objects listed

Is that the exact name of the folder? Podium does not create an “insert” folder, unless it is related to a plugin.

    a device mappings folder

If the plugin uses multiple mappings, as opposed to a single ‘insert’ mapping, then these mappings are placed in a folder named after the plugin. Put both this folder and the device definition object located right before, into the instrument/effect category folders you have created.
