Hi.
Did some quick testing this morning, with Athlon X2 dual core, 3 ghz, 4gb ram.
It opened fine, but with an error message: “Could not access midi input interface. Midi yoke nt:1. Interface either not connected/powered on or is locked by another running application.”
I am not sure, but since yoke is a virtual MIDI port driver, perhaps there are issues with its 64-bit drivers. Googling “midi yoke 64 bit” seems to suggest there are issues when running 64-bit.
pss Since I have many more 32 bit plugs than 64, should I use just the 64 bit Podium and bridge all the 32s? That way I could use performance mode all the time(if the sound doesn’t degrade) and kill all cpu issues.
I wouldn’t use Podium x64, unless I have a need to use 64-bit plugins.

One question, though: I have 4 gigs ram, so will this allow for much improvement in performance?
Podium x86 can access max 3GB, so perhaps Podium x64 will be able to utilize some of your remaining 1 GB. I would use Podium x64 only if I have x64 plugins that I would like to use, or if I have memory hungry plugins and more than 4GB RAM. Podium x64 should offer better performance than Podium x86, but that performance advantage will probably be lost if you use a lot of 32-bit plugins wrapped with for example jBridge.
Having now read the jBridge docs, I think I’ll try to implement built-in support for jBridge in Podium. This means that Podium will detect if jBridge is installed on your system. When Podium scans for plugins or loads the plugins in the arrangement, it will try to wrap x86/x64 incompatible plugins using the jBridge wrapper. Thus you don’t have to use the jBridger tool to prepare wrapped versions of your plugins.
I finally have some good news on the x64 front. Podium 2.43 will probably be released as both x86 and x64.
Please post further questions/comments you may have in this topic:
The competition is now closed.
The correct answer is: 13463 times.
The previous Podium Free 2.35 was downloaded 7670 times. I believe these figures represent true downloads, and not robot downloads, since the Podium Demo download available on the same page is only downloaded a few hundred times.
4mica came closest (within April) with his guess of 2500. He receives a 12 months free upgrade period. kxuser entered the competition two days too late, but since he came closest with his guess of 8000, he gets a consolation price of a free license with 6 months free upgrade period.
Congratulations to the winners.
All the other guesses were quite low, which I guess are based on the relatively few posters that frequent this forum. Apparently there are quite a few Podium Free users out there. Let’s hope some of them register on the forum and say hi.
Feel free to post your comments.

If you have a .MP3 file and you have it saved in, let’s say, “My Documents”. Ok your done with your mix and you export it to a sound file and then you select an already .MP3 file. It says the “overwrite” prompt warning, of course let’s say you click, “Yes”.
It “literally” overwrites the old .MP3 with a “NEW”[?] .MP3??? In other words did Podium render a new .MP3, or did Windows somehow do it?
Podium does not render to mp3. If it is overwritten, then your mp3 file is likely now transformed into a wav file, but with an mp3 file extension. Check the file-size, or the file properties in explorer, and you’ll likely see it is now a wav file.

So the obvious workaround is to record them into another track, while tweaking the desired parameters by hand in real-time. Bouncing is of no use in this scenario.
How about real-time record bouncing? Just enable this mode on the track, arm bounce-recording (Ctrl+B), enable record mode on the transport, and start play. The bounce-recorded audio will be drawn in realtime on top of the track. When you’re done, use the “move bounced audio to new track” command.

have one more question
how to assign several tracks to several midi channels of one multi channel sampler(proteus kontakt independence uvi etc) with several sampled instruments loaded.
The fastest way is to drag the folder containing all the mappings for a multitimbral instrument onto the empty track area.
and very important is stability -crashed again… 🙁
Could you be more specific? How does it crash? What did you do to provoke the crash?

@ Fritz – I wish you would have sent a email notice about the competion
– i just found out about it myself yesterday.
In the “Competitions” announcement topic there is an explanation on how you can get notified by email.
I’m posting about it on as many boards as i can to let others know about it with a link back.
Hope that is okay with you, as i don’t have time to wait for your reply.
Post away. It would be nice to have more people visit this forum.
Once you have bounced a track the first time, any subsequent effects you add will be inserted after the bounce point. Check that the bounce selector is placed after (i.e. above) the zReverb plugin in the effect chain. If not, just drag the bounce button above the zReverb and redo the bounce.
Btw. you won’t gain anything by bypassing effects that are bounced. Once bounce playback is activated, any plugins that are below the bounce point in the chain are automatically bypassed/muted. You can enable the “unload plugins when bounced” option, if you furthermore want the plugins to be removed from memory when they are bounced.

1.why not to make positioning of cursor with single left click in select tool mode
You can do it with a single left-click in the timeline ruler. In all the other timeline regions you can do it with middle mouse button click.
2. fx – would like to drag them between tracks.
That is on my todo list.
would like to have fx panel(per fx) with presets
Not sure what you mean here. If you click the checkmark button next to an effect in the inspector rack, the lists in the inspector will show all the presets and parameters that are available for that effect.
midi -ticks per quarter?
16384.
seems like no internal resampling -right? -but not a big trouble..
Right. On the todo list.

Frits,
Would moving to Win 7 64-bit involve new hardware in addition to the OS or is your machine capable enough of handling Win 7 64-bit? How much does Microsoft charge for the upgrade version of Windows 7 64-bit in Denmark?JP
My PC should handle a Win7 upgrade, but I still need my Vista 32-bit install to be able to test Podium on that platform. Rather than wasting time on purchasing a second harddrive and setting up a dual boot system, I would prefer to buy a new cheap PC.
I only have OEM versions of Windows, so I can’t buy the cheaper Win7 upgrade version. A full Win7 version costs about 250US$ in Denmark.
When I add support for multi-selection of tracks, it should be easy to add a link fader feature. Supporting configuration of limited ranges and inverse action is more complicated, so I doubt I’ll implement that in the first round.
You can only link MIDI controllers to plugins, if the plugin supports it. If the plugin has a MIDI learn feature, then it supports it. If you see the knobs move in the plugin editor, then Podium should be able to record these movements. Put the track in record mode, and start recording.
Before I start to check out specific plugins, could you please check that the problems you are seeing are still present with the latest Podium Free 2.40 release.
