Use the “load default setup” setup menu command to get the new default layout.
OK I did that but now it’s lost the way I had it set up before (I had a really nice layout in the Editor Profiles panel but it doesn’t even seem to have been saved anywhere)

Well for me the really big question is the project management which I find hard to work with. My usual practice in other hosts is to save versions of my work-in-progress iteratively so I can always backtrack easily to an earlier version and start again and always have a pristine opening project so I can follow different paths from the same starting place. Most hosts have a “save as ” command to enable that to be done easily (like snapshots). However Podium doesn’t for Arrangements, only for Projects – imho it’s the arrangement level that needs the save as since its the individual work-in-progress level not the project level which is the container for arrangements (or at least should be). There is no way currently in Podium to save versions along the way without writing over previous versions (indeed you have to save the whole project if you don’t want to lose anything stamping in your edits when the whole point is not to for the whole project, just for each version) and the whole system is confusing and makes it too easy to lose work.
I have no major problem with the hierarchy – it’s the project management that bugs the hell out of me. I do agree that it’s hard sometimes to distinguish plugins in a track

Do you mean in the curve/automation editor? It should only display the notes on the track you’re automating so you can better sync your automation.
As far as I know, they’ve always been there and you can’t disable them.
You can only set the curve opacity to 100% (editor’s view menu > editor profile properties > curve > properties > curve fill opacity. If you’re talking about the MIDI editor however, then right-click on the piano keyboard in the editor from which you want them removed > piano roll region properties > set ghost note contrast to zero.
I was thinking of both actually – don’t like too much clutter and I can see where I am perfectly fine without needing them. It would be nice to be able to disable them in either view. Thanks

Otherwise you can also get the old scrollbar back, of course. Go to the arrangement view menu > editor profile properties > insert new > scrollbar > move it to where you want with the up/down buttons!
Thanks – that works best for me – easier to control and see everything
Oh well it crashed during scan again so I lost the new Project – this is why an update scan would be better – then I could just rescan and pick it up where it left off instead of starting from scratch each time with a new project
Thanks – I was hoping not to have to go through creating a new project again as it always crashes somewhere along the scan before I’ve even saved the project. A simple way to update what is already there would be more efficient. Anyway I will try it again.

You can consider the devices list as a “direct access list”. You can move them, delete, rename because they are just direct access to plugins. If Podium doesn’t find a plugin that you have changed its path do Devices–>Search missing plugins
Hope this helps 🙂
Yeah I know that but I don’t want to fiddle about plugin by plugin – I want it just to rescan and update the list (and without having to start a whole new project) – it should have done it when I changed my directory path – in most hosts there would be a rescan now button or something
Time to get back to this issue?
Maybe it’s a Vanguard thing – I’m not seeing it either – had a fairly intensive project with Alchemy and tried deleting all the automation but it made no difference to the cpu hit.
Very nice.
The only thing I would add is when you double click to expand the zoom range to full screen another double click should return it to what it was previously.

For that matter, is anyone with issues seeing the image in all circumstances using a CRT monitor? I seem to recall the brightness and contrast on those working a whole lot differently.
Yeah – the monitor I could see it on was bog standard Acer LCD but the one I had difficulty seeing it with was a high end Iiyama CRT 22″ – that’s why I was surprised it was the monitor settings (though in the graphics card, not the monitor built in settings)

A long shot, but if you have an older graphics card, open the display properties and check if it uses 16 bit instead of the full 24/32 bit.
I’m using IE and I don’t have any problems with the display of .png files. AFAIK the only issue IE has with .png files is that it does not support transparency. There is no transparency in the splash image.
No it’s set to 32 bit. However I have resolved this now – although I had brightness set to the maximum the monitors own control panel allowed and it was still black I found in the advanced driver settings I could also adjust brightness there (overriding the built-in monitor settings) so I set it to 10% brighter and now it shows.
