P4 means you almost definitely have hyperthreading. If you have hyperthreading enabled (by default it is), you might still only get that near 50 rating (I think). It’s worth trying just to see if it changes it. Even if a plugin fixes it, I suppose it might mean something changed in Podium, too.
Naturally, since that was the only suggestion I made, it’s the only one I can think of…
Ah I see.
Hm, I think I’d like not streaming option too, since I often mute tracks to regain performance.
What is this issue? How can something that is muted play back?
That sounds oddly like a denormal. When you say it takes that much CPU, is that because it’s one core of two (thus one CPU is likely to take up towards 50%), in other words, measured by using task manager? Could you insert a denormal plugin such as Normalizer and see if that changes anything?
Purely speculative, at this moment.
To add to this, one of energyXT 1.41’s cool features (introduced a few versions before that) was being able to map an envelope to the tempo!
I guess that’s a different feature request. I just saw tempo and my brain instantly jumped to envelope…
I also agree with the OP’s FR though. I think that sort of feature is useful.
Well what you have said more or less is the impression I got which I was attempting to state in short, and I feel like there is a good chance Frits would do that in the next update is what I meant. I think a bit of slippage at some point with updates is inevitable, but Frits seems to be doing pretty well so far!
I’m surprised to hear Cakewalk and Ableton do this.
Well anyway, I’m looking forward to watching Podium grow! I’m still looking forward to watching my previous host grow too, but it seems to have decided to mostly halt. I wonder if it’s in its late teens, has grown full height but its maturity is stunted and is being stubborn. 😆
From what I’ve seen so far, this sort of thing is done for two reasons:
First, when it is a company pushing for a release, and the programmers have no choice. Sometimes, the company pushing is a partner company (a big-time audio company like Steinberg, or Cakewalk, for example only). Luckily, Frits is not in this situation at this time.
Second, when the small group or even individual if there is only one person working on the project, has a release schedule which they stick by that is regular, for instance the good old weekly updates Jorgen used to do for energyXT. This also includes the darker side of this, where the person is rushing themselves for a release, desperate to appease themselves (from boredom or something else?) or the masses waiting and hungering for a program. Frits does not do it quite this way either, I don’t think.
Since Frits doesn’t seem to fit in either of these boats (which is another reason why I chose to come over here from energyXT and since I can still use both anyway! :D) I think there would be no problem fixing such things for him. No one is pushing him to release that is paying him serious money, and I don’t think he would feel particularly rushed on his own schedule either.. maybe.
Well, this is how I see it. So my feeling is it will get fixed! Of course… *ahem* I happen to have not been around here very long so… Some of you long-time inhabitants would have better idea than me. 😳
Yes, I already did that. I’m mostly thinking of templates (the rest in the folder I don’t need… I think), but when I edited those folders manually in the .ini file, it came up with an error when trying to save a template.
Thanks for taking it into consideration!
I’d just be happy being able to assign a CC to a VST parameter. That way I could just do the rest from my controller. I’d also like it if channels were taken into account, a.. oh. I guess I could do that, if I added a controller “device” for each channel… wait.. I already DID do that…
This multiple device for multiple audio inputs/outputs for VSTs and multiple devices for multiple channels for MIDI etc though… Is a bit redundant if you ask me. Well it’s redundant if you don’t ask me, too. 😉
Aha! I didn’t realise this.
I would dearly like to see mapping parameters to CC, so I can use a MIDI controller to control. 😛
