Well, I’m sold on the media browser!

I’m glad that GUIless VST provision was next. tbh (and in true developer style..) now that VST automation is there I have a workaround for not having a GUI. If you felt that the media browser would be a better next thing, then by all means do start! I reckon that it will be a good feature/ selling point, then do the GUIless provision after that.

    Just my thought!

    Frits,

as an aside to this, in the short term could there be an option to output a file containing all the links to files, both those added by the user as sounds, and those maintained by Podium. From some earlier experimentation, I have a few directories with old bounce tracks, some of which I reimported, others I didn’t. I would like to clean out the unused files but an scared to at the moment!!

A text file named after the project, with all the links (maybe even the VSTs used as well) would be great. Doesn’t need to be anything momentous, just a straight listing..

    any chance of this???

KVR Contest, June 2004, theme SciFi Theme…

    The Amoeba Variations

It was quite fun to do, and very easy. Made judicious use of the new VST automation support…

I say keep it. I’ve just been doing a load of editting, and used it a fair bit.

It’s useful in looking at wave forms, selecting a portion and zooming in, etc, and knowing that it’s non-destructive.

It could be kept, but not a default on the menu bar – but outline it’s function in all the help files, and how to add it to the menus.

I understand it, appreciate it, and use it. Most sequencers I have used have this facility, going right back to Atari days, and it is a logical part of knowing your track – and essential when exploring someone elses!

    I voted KEEP IT!!!

    Frits,

what would also be nice is a ‘note properties’ dialog for manula editting. For instance, selecting a note or group, calling the properties, and reducing all the velocities by 15; or pulling their start positions forward by 30 ticks; or increasing their length by 1 beat; etc.

Any chance of this finding it’s way onto the list??

    Many Thanks

    your doing a great job!

I agree with some of these points..

A tool box appearing, on right click (instead of context menu) would be a big plus as well. Pictures are more easily recognisable than reading text, and people do ALOT of tool swapping.

well, rather than toolbox, icons will do me. These can easily be implemented by using owner-draw menus. On menu creation the ownerdraw flag can be specified for each item. Handling the drawing shouldn’t be too much of a problem, especially since icons are already to hand!

When resizing a note, (from the right side) and making it shorter, you cant see where is going to end.

I realise that the note goes alpha blended when resizing, which is nice, but could it go a different colour and alpha-blended? this way the whole not can be seen before the final decision is made. I have found myself undersizing, then expanding to the correct size. You could invert the colour, or just invert one of the RGB values to make a difference (this would not interfere with any user prefs…)

    I’ll post more soon!

would that be HiMiE? good idea – google return links for a clarinet player, so no trademarks probs. (I did look up HiMix, but that has been taken!)

and, yes, one can say it without losing your tongue down your own throat!

HMx is a good abbr! (even HMx ™ for good measure!). I think you should stick with the term heirarchic and it’s derivatives, after all, it’s what it is, and it doesn’t half sound good!

thesaurus.com doesn’t suggest anything useful.. just checked!

    HMx… hmmm…

Pretty much makes sense to me…

I like the ‘subtitles’ – very clear.

Can’t think of anything more helpful just now!!

The video worked fine here.. took a while to get on a dialup, but worked well!

nice quick over view… will future ones have flash cards, or any popups to highlight what is being done? I used to do that when using Lotus ScreenCam, I would program hotkeys with popups telling the user what ctrl keys, double clicks etc were needed. Just a thought!

    Well done!

I’ve completed a rather odd prog piece Fugitive.

I used Beta 0.95, with ZeBass, mda epiano, CheezeMachine, Loopazoid with my favourite custom kit, CM101, EVM Nylon, NuBi, some SH1-filter, JCM900, and a few Classic fx. Auxing was acheived via Tobybear‘s MixBox (in UtilBag) – I used two tracks as Aux busses, one with main vox ‘verb, and another handling drums/ synths verb.

How successful the track itself is can be debated, but I’m pleased with the outcome from the point of view of using Podium.

    There ya go!

…what..? I thought you were made of sterner stuff!!!

This idea seems great, but like you, I feel it could wait.. at least until Pan and VST automation are in place!!
