    Well hello everyone!

Frits, Just tried Kontakt 4 (multi-out) here and it seems to work well as described in the original post.

I’ll keep testing plug-ins and see what I can find.

I have to say here that Podium’s ability to let one skip the plug-in database and just load plugins on a per-project basis seems simple enough but is a feature that I crave in other DAWs but never find.

Loading plugins from any location on the file system is a huge plus as well.

    Hi Frits,

Additions to the track tag right-click menus are welcome and working here. Thx.

Metronome changes working too however accelerating the tempo via the bpm value (say …120bpm and key in 200bpm) in the Tempo Event Properties box gives me an instant app hang if the song is playing at the time.

Please note that the hang/crash doesn’t happen when going the other way (eg. 200bpm to 120bpm) and doesn’t happen if you stop playback first.

Also, it does not seem be related to the new sound (Metronome1.wav) as it will occur with the default metronome as well.

Suggestions above all look good IMO. Especially the separate levels for preroll and punch.

Well hello there! Good to have you back Frits XD

One quick question and forgive me if this is not the correct place for it but I am a “Lifer” who would like to chip-in to the dev fund. Do I just pay for a subscription? Let me know.

Reset the vertical zoom to default (ctrl+click the vertical zoom slider). Resize one of the tracks to your preferred height. Right-click the track header, and select ‘Set Height of All Tracks’. If needed, do the same with a parameter track.

Hi Frits, yes that did it. Exactly what I was looking for …thanks!

    Interesting,

An experiment which maybe a bit of a pain to set up given the number of tracks you have, however, if you bypass all instruments and effects except for those on one track that you are bouncing, does the crash still occur?

You can do this by creating a short event/sequence on that track at the start (bar 1) and then merging it with your sequence that starts at bar 10 or whatever. This will extend the sequence right back to the start of the time line. Select as many sequences on the track as you want and right-click, and choose merge from the menu.

    Hey Glen,

I can see from your pic that you are in Folder page mode. Try turning on Tooltips from the Help menu (Top Left-ish), go to the Project Page Mode button in the upper Right hand corner and click it once to change to Start Page mode.

Then you will need to create an arrangement from the Contents – Arrangements,Sounds window/box. Note that it is the Arrangement that you would be associate with the home page of other DAWs such as Reaper or Cubase.

I would actually recommend starting a new Project (Top Left Project Menu) and following the Wizard which will do all of this for you, including creating the first Arrangement.

    Hope this helps,

    Ben

Using right-click on track header>Clipboard>Copy Group and Child Tracks then right-click track header>Clipboard>Insert Track, in another arrangement, has no effect on zoom level, or behaviour, for me. i only tried with the clipboard, not the track templates though.

Yeah, I use CTRL+C and CTRL+V to move my group tracks back an forth. This portability works so well for me and certainly puts some of the other DAWs to shame.

As an experiment I created a new Phantom Copy of the arrangement that was giving me trouble and the behavior that I mentioned above has now gone? 🙂

Oh well, all’s well that ends well.

unfortunately as it is impossible to divide the “effect chain” and “add new track from template” ….
list of effects appear in the menu when you add a new tracks 🙁 it’s a bit annoying but not critical ….

Hi again 🙂 Not entirely sure that I understand this statement. Do you not like it that both Track Templates and Effect Chains are presented in the the same right click menu?

I agree that this list can get quite long so a sensible naming scheme is essential. Also, it is possible to create a sub-folder within the templates folder to effectively hide templates that you don’t need.

A good example of this is when I create tracks for the KVR OSC where only free plugins are allowed. For this I move all of my templates that use commercial (paid) plugins to the “PaidPlugin” folder.

    Hey Levendis, how’s things?

Yes, I use INSERT a lot too. Perhaps a button on the editor for “Make Unique” or even have CTRL+U work while the editor is open could be a solution as well.

I guess my main gripe is that I duplicate some events, double-click to open them, commence editing, realise what I have done and then have to back-track the changes, close the editor, make the event unique and then do it all over again.

@Frits, I do of course realise that this would not be necessary if I had remembered to make the event unique in the first place 😉

+1 (If you mean scaling time and amplitude of automation)

Errrmmm, no, it’s just that the dots are too small ;( Mostly it’s fine however after a long session I think my concentration & co-ordination wanes a little. I would love bigger dots.

CTRL+SHIFT+click+drag constrains zooming to the vertical axis, centered where your mouse pointer is. You can also make zoom shortcuts, next to the navigator. i like to set one that encompasses the entire arrangement (alternate: double-click navigator). Or a segment on the timeline that excludes a sketch area. The snapshots recall horizontal and vertical zoom level, and position. Activate them with the shortcut SHIFT+1…9

Hmmm, yep I agree however maybe what I am talking about is actually a bug of sorts. Sometimes when I copy and paste a track from one arrangement to another (I do this quite often), the pasted track seems to SNAP to the height of the visible area on my screen. You can of course shrink this back down with the mouse however from that point on wards, CRTL+SHIFT+ALT+click+mousedrag or even CTRL+SHIFT+mousewheel makes the track jump back to the height of the screen.

    Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

Hi Sobaka, I don’t think so, at least not as a “Default” for any Return automatically created to match a newly inserted send.

As a possible solution, it is possible to save a Return as a track template. This way you could add your Returns from template (with the plugins that you want) and then just set the Sends on each instrument or audio track to route to those Returns as required.

This would of course work across all projects as Track Templates are Global.

    Hope this helps,

    Ben

    Just another quick one 🙂

I would dearly love a shortcut key for the “Set height of all tracks”.

This arises from a problem I have where the CTRL+SHIFT+ALT zoom feature that I love so much starts to behave in an erratic fashion after a lot of re-sizing and copying and pasting of tracks. Zooming starts to jump/scale in large increments which makes it difficult at best and useless at worst.

Maybe there is a way within an arrangement to re-establish the smoothing scaling that is available when the arrangement is first created?

    Hi all,

I’ve been submitting entries for the KVR One-Synth-Challenge for a few months now (one of them even placed second!) They’re all done in Podium so I thought I may as well add them here as well if anyone is interested.

I will try and make time to have a listen to the tracks in this group as well 🙂 Also, a big THANKS to Levendis for setting this up and modding it.

    Cheers,

    H-man / Hokey
