Ah that’s some terrible news …a long-time supporter of Podium and always helpful here on the forums.

    R.I.P. Slomo.

Thanks for taking the time to post this tribute.

    Hey thanks 🙂

Your track was nothing short of amazing too. You make CM Domiator sound like some 10 Grand Korg workstation! I also really like the style of writing too …maybe we’re similar in leaning towards ambient themes and mood inspiring music.

I joined the OSC as a means to get motivated and actually finish something, and I must say, it’s been a great experience all round. Good luck in the voting!

Also, are you in on this months challenge?

As for the Poppets …I don’t see why not? Certainly after voting anyway….

One new item on this forum caught my eye the other day. As we are titled ‘Participants’ when we post, I happened to notice that Frits is listed as ‘Keymaster.’ What was that movie I’m trying to think f in which the lines go something to this effect:

Can’t recall the quote, but there is a keymaster in The Matrix. The Keymaster/Participants roles are defined by the bbPress forum software. Perhaps some day I’ll look into customizing this, so that we get a ‘Podium Licensee’ role like we had in the old forum.

Ghostbusters 1984 …more here if you have some time to fill 😉

I’ve never had any real *problems* with Podium, more like small issues with certain lack of features that don’t really make or break a DAW program for me. But, this is beside the point.

…instead of announcing that you’re no longer using a piece of software just simply stop using it….. That is all

    QFT

    +1

I find I just get more done in Podium…

Peace michi, go and do whatever makes you happy. 8) -~

This is a little dated now but it might help.

Otherwise, my other option is to be silent about what I’m working on presently, and only release 0.1 or 0.5 version updates each 6 months. These larger updates will then have a wider range of features that hopefully will include something useful for most users.

    No thanks …don’t go changin.

My love of Podium is based around that fact that the changes are implemented carefully and thoughtfully with rather deep user input and feedback, ie. the betas.

Too many professional software packages out there contain the weirdest logic.

I understand that some users have specific requirements and hence experience a little frustration. I don’t profess to have any solution for that.

The screenshots you see in my first post in this topic is the full Podium 2.40, where I just have modified the default editor profiles to fit on the smaller screen.

So what’s it like? You said in a previous post that you were excited about the project (or was it the possibilities?). Does it feel workable even on the touch?

Thanks – I used the profile editor to add a scrollbar back. I don’t like the navigator so I’ve removed that to use less space – it just threw me that the scrollbar had been removed

I love the navigator but I’ve trained myself now to grab the bottom bar of the box (for Horizontal Panning only) because I find the vertical movement strangely unnerving due to the fact that the vertical pan jumps one track at a time and snaps to the track height.

The vertical scroll bar in the track view doesn’t do this and hence feels more like gliding than clunking.

Perhaps this can be or could be changed?

I am intrigued buy the multi-touch aspect tho, and would be pretty enthusiastic about a remote-control capability for the “full-version”. Given the challenges of instruments etc, could this be a half-way step to full mobility?

If you mean an app that can show and control the UI of Podium running on your PC, then that is an entirely different app that would require extensive coding. For that purpose I would suggest trying some of the many available remote-desktop connection apps.

Sooo ..do you expect to integrate the touch features with the main app as well as the mobile app?

I really like the idea of being able to use multi-touch for midi/paramter curve editing.

Thanks, but what is it going to do for me? Is it going to provide me with a bunch of sounds and the ability to add more, or will it enable me to somehow make use of the sounds provided by my Soundblaster card?

I’m pretty sure that your soundblaster just loads a GM soundfont bank? Try using the SFZ+ plugin to load it instead. Sounds should be the same?

Note tho that I’m just pulling this from memory, I can’t test this myself anymore.

    Amazing stuff Frits,

I have done and will continue to use my laptop for mobile work. Not as portable but the capabilities/feature set for these Pad/touch devices just doesn’t compare.

(I have 620GB of storage on my laptop, and USB, Display Port & Firewire ports. 😛 )

    Hi Batman42ca,

I think you need a VSTi Soundfont player. This is widely regarded as the best freebie:

I just uploaded it, how to use GSnap in Podium with a good amount of theory about devices, so you, hopefully, could use any plugin that doesn’t need route midi output to another device (Podium doesn’t support MIDI routing between devices yet).

Whoa! I’ve just had a quick view but it looks like a comprehensive explanation of Podium’s Device management.

    Nice one =D>
