btw how do you turn off the new quantise value buttons? – I just accidentally clicked on one and there doesn’t seem to be anyway to uncheck all of them – there’s always at least one toggled – I don’t need or want to use quantise ever.
They won’t come into play as long as you don’t select a bunch of notes and Ctrl or Alt click on one of them (the quanitze value buttons that is).
Quantize and Snap are two different features. If Snap is enabled, however the quantize buttons have the same function as the drop down list on the toolbar.
There are a few things to get your head around here although its all pretty well explained in Frits’ release comments in this thread.
Hi Frits,
The latest additions to 209 are great IMO 😀
I have started using the Editor Profiles alot recently as a means of testing new layouts for workflow, and as a result have come up with a new FR:
User defined right-click menus in the editors
To some extent one can already change the right-click menu in the Piano Roll by changing the order of the buttons in the Toolbar through the editor. However I would like the ability to re-shuffle the whole thing included adding undo/redo and other options currenty found only under the Edit menu, as well as changing the behavior where the tools drop to the bottom when right-clicking on a selected note.
I would prefer that the shorter note was not deleted. Perhaps the duration of the shorter note could be a default minimum of the quantise value?
I don’t know if there is a one-size-fits-all for this however I wouldn’t want to lose any of those ‘happy accidents’ ….accidentally.

Beta4:
Enabling the “show quantization button panel” option in the piano roll region properties will show a panel of shortcut buttons to the left of the piano keyboard. Clicking the buttons will set the editor quantize value. Ctrl+Click will quantize the start of selected events. Alt+Click will set the duration of selected events.
CTRL-Click & ALT-Click on the quantization buttons.

Also added “alt+click+drag left/right to resize” and “alt+click+drag up/down to adjust velocity” options. If you have both these options enabled, then the direction you drag determines which edit action is performed.
…on the drawn midi events.
Am I the only one that missed that? 😳 Anyway works great. 8)
Yeah, I still think it’s the best match for the proposed new licensing system tho.
With all respect to Pigini’s idea, I don’t really like the idea of going form 2.09 to 2.35 to 2.416 (?) etc. I get what it means, it just feels strange.
The Podium release/update/upgrade list has never been less than 10 items IIRC.
I think this is perfectly acceptable for all the reasons mentioned. An announcement of a simple and logical change like this also draws attentioned to Podium (in whatever amount).
You do realise that incrementing the updates by 0.1 limits you to 10 updates per year though….. 😛
Edit: I was refering to the 2009.1 version. 🙂 I like it, all the information is there and little is left to interpretation. Also, given the proposed new licensing system this integrates well.
Is there a committment to how many .x updates/upgrades per year tho? New jaded users will be sceptical of course.
Hey …that’s what I was looking for! 😀
Thanks again.
Okay, makes sense.
Would it be possible to call a curve ‘shape’ from the Curve editor? Are these geometry or midi data?
I’m thinking, right-click – insert curve:
Eg. Sine, Sine x2, Build up (Crescendo), Step 1/4, Step 1/1 etc.
Perhaps this sounds a little pedantic but I often get the feeling that the process could be a tad easier than re-creating curves each time (per project).
Nice ….thx!
Forgive me for not checking but has anyone requested “Save as Track Template” for parameter tracks?
I think it would be great to have a library of pre-configured parameter (edit: automation) curves. Maybe included by default in the library?
@Zynewave wrote:
I’ll change this so that a curve sequence is automatically created when you manually add the automation tracks.
Frits, what value for the automatic automation curve? Will this ‘read’ from the plugin and automatically draw a flat line for the length of the event at that value?
BTW, the layers idea I quite like. For someone who has been trying to finish a skin for a plugin for six or so weeks, I would have to say that it vastly changes the creative paradigm.
Especially seeing as I wasn’t using it for the first five weeks 🙄 .
Oh, 😳 I thought you were trying to open up the thread to more “oustide the square” ideas.
eg.
Mouse Gestures -taken from some games,Wii, iPhone etc.
Zoom window feature -similar to some graphics packages
…sutff like that.
