I have emailed you a sample project.
Cheers,
Malcolm.
Yes, I can hear the audio from Reason when I press play in Podium, and the meters happily bounce up and down. I am not getting any waveform or the red colour overlay when I try to bounce.
Hi Frits,
I have tried that, but I don’t get any recorded audio. When I click the B button to enable bounce playback I get silence.
Any idea what’s going wrong?
Cheers,
Malcolm.

Being able to pre select more than one track then using a Move to Group track command for instance would be much better.
+1
I’d like to be able to select multiple tracks and then
– assign sends
– unassign sends
– bounce tracks
– delete tracks
– colour tracks
– etc …
Cheers,
Malcolm.
Having just spent the past few hours playing around with release 2.20, I’ll admit to being one of those people who’ve kept going back to other programs – mainly Reason and Reaper – because I found certain things in Podium too confusing.
Recent releases have made great improvements, but I still find some things – e.g. the fact that you can’t select multiple tracks – really frustrating.
I’m glad to hear Frits is focusing on these things now, and I look forward to trying future releases.
Cheers,
Malcolm.

I must confess I don’t really like the name Inspector, but I’ll be damned if I can come up with anything more appropriate :(.
How about “Configure Track”?
A lot of UI elements can be simplified by changing the label from a noun – e.g. “Inspector” to a verb-noun combination that describes the purpose of the element.
Following on from this, the labels in the tabs at the top of the default window could be changed to (left to right):
Changing the UI labels to verb-noun pairs also reduces the documentation overhead, as a lot of the controls become self-explanatory.

Hi Frits,
I agree with your suggested changes. Great to hear you’re updating the User Guide too.
One of the terms I’ve always found confusing is “Editor Profiles”, which actually appears to be more of a “Customise Windows” function than a control to set-up editing functions.
I also find it confusing when I open the “Editor Profiles” for “Arrangement”, as an example, and find four identically named entries for “Timeline ruler”, when in fact they’re separate controls for adjusting the Loop Timeline, Marker Timeline, etc. It would be great if you could change this part of the UI to make it simpler.
If it’s at all possible, I think it would be great to put all of the UI strings into an external resource file (e.g. XML). This way, people could easily customise them into terms that make sense to them, plus they could be translated into their native language (assuming the UI supports unicode).
Cheers,
Malcolm.
Hi thcilnnahoj,
Thanks for the clarification about the options and buttons. I don’t know why the Vista machine would show the old buttons in the 2.09 version, but I realise now they shouldn’t be there.

To be able to start playback by double-left-click, you’ll have to disable the following option:
View – Editor Profile Properties – Timeline ruler – Properties – Left click to slide timeline.
This is the solution I was looking for. Thanks! 🙂
Interestingly, there are four identically named “Timeline ruler” options in my Editor Profile Properties:
“Left click to slide timeline” was only selected in the last of these four.
I’m very glad to have double-click working. For a moment there I thought I might have to swap to Vista! 😆

Hi Frits,

- Clicking the middle mouse button in any of the timeline regions will set the edit cursor position.
I’m finding this very hard to use. My middle mouse button is a scroll wheel, so the timeline often scrolls when I try to set the edit cursor position. Is there some way I can customise the keyboard shortcuts in Podium?
Cheers,
Malcolm.
Hi Frits,
Just tried the new Bounce options in this release. What a great improvement! This makes the Bounce feature much easier to use and really flexible. Thanks for the great update! 🙂

Hi Frits,
I’m happy to report that the changes you made for 2.04 have solved the crash problem I was having when recording SysEx dumps from the Weiss. Record and playback now works perfectly. Thanks for your help! 🙂

To be able to test your .syx file, I implemented support for dragging .syx files onto tracks. Coming up in release 2.04.
This is great!
Now that you’ve implemented drag and drop for .syx files, could you add them to the list of recognised files for the “List” window?
Cheers,
Malcolm.
Email sent.
When I try to record the SysEx in Podium it creates one parameter lane with what appears to be many consecutive (or overlapping) events.
Cheers,
Malcolm.
Switching to the Event List crashes Podium.
I am able to successfully capture and transmit the Weiss sysex dumps using MIDI-OX. I can send you a copy of one of those files if it would help solve the bug.
Cheers,
Malcolm.
