    Hi Frits,

I have sent you a sample project file.

While making this file, I noticed that if I created a new Bus track and loaded an effect the Presets were recognised correctly, but they disappeared as soon as I assigned a source to the Bus Return. Assigning the source seems to be the trigger.

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

    Hi Frits,

The settings for effects loaded into the Busses are not being saved in 2.23. If you setup an effect, then save the Project and exit Podium, all effect settings are lost when you open the Project again.

I also noticed that the Presets for the effects are not being recognised by Podium when loaded into a Buss, but they are recognised if you load the same effect into a Track.

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

Empty rack editors show “No parameters are added to the rack editor” (let me know if you can come up with a better message).

    I would suggest “Add Parameters”.

Tried this new feature with Alchemy and Stylus RMX. It worked well with Alchemy, but adding Stylus RMX parameters takes 3 to 4 seconds per check box.

Mixer zoom is very nice. 🙂

    Hi Sam,

Assuming you’ve added a parameter track for “Level”, I would turn on Snap in the parameter editor and add the points you need using “Line Draw Mode”.

This will create points at the snap values, with a straight line value change in between the points.

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

    Hi Frits,

    Just tried beta 4.

I agree with others comments that the “Add new effect” button should be above the existing FX, and that the new effect should be added at the top, so the behaviour in the Group Panel matches the order of the Mixer.

I don’t understand the need for the Tick button. I like the information about the effect to be shown in the Inspector as soon as I click on the effect name. I don’t like having to click the “Tick” button as well. Can we add an option to hide this button and have the information automatically displayed?

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

    • Added “adjust tempo and stretch to align bar at cursor” command to the tempo lane right-click menu. This is useful if you have recorded a midi performance that has dynamic tempo changes. You can then use this command to edit tempo events and align the grid to your performance while keeping the original timing of the performance. The command complements the old “adjust tempo to align bar at cursor” command which is used for aligning the grid to an audio recording with dynamic tempo changes.

    Hi Frits,

I just tried the “Adjust Tempo To Align Grid At Cursor” function to try to work out the tempo of a pre-recorded piece of audio. It works quite well, but I couldn’t get an exact match as the transient of the first beat is hard to align to the grid.

This piece of music has a prominent snare transient on beat 2 and 4. I tried aligning the grid to this, but it moved the start of the bar to this beat.

Is there a way to align the grid to a transient and tell it what the beat/bar is so it can work out the tempo?

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

Things like drawing a selection rectangle with the right mouse button (as in Reaper, though I’m sure it’s configurable) just feel awkward to me.

Me too! Right-click selection is the main reason I’ve never felt really comfortable with Reaper. 🙂

Ever tried clicking the wheel? 😉

Yeah, and I loathe it as a way of triggering actions. I only want to use a scroll wheel for scrolling. 🙂

There are only 2 dll’s – a “ARIA Player VST_x86” and a “ARIA Player Multi VST_x86”. I assume the surround versions come from the “Multi” version.

Podium is my only surround-capable host.

There’s no information in the GPO manual or on their website regarding surround support, so I’m not even sure if it’s meant to support surround or if something is incorrectly interpreting the multiple-out support as surround support. It’s not a big issue for me at this stage but I thought I’d let you know about the crash.

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

After some consideration and experimentation, I did not like my suggestion with the specific export option. Instead I added the “Clone And Crop” command to the event edit menu. Upon using this command you can then use the normal “export to sound file” in the sound editor.

Thanks Frits, this works well and is a great improvement to my workflow. 8)

I noticed that the exported sound file does not include fades that are on the event – i.e. the event had a fade in, but the exported sound did not. Are event fades meant to be included in the exported file?

What I am considering is to have separate tool selectors for left, middle, right and X mouse button, instead of the current bar of left-click tools.

If you end up making controls for the middle mouse button, please make them optional or assignable to another control. All of the mice I own are 2-button mice, with the “middle” being a scroll wheel.

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.

How about if I add “Export Sound Event To Sound File…” to the sound editor file menu. This will do an export limited to the range of the clicked event.

    Sounds great! 🙂

I can add a “clone and crop sound event” command, which will reduce two steps to one. Which additional steps do you want automated?

The “export to sound file” part.

How about replacing all 4 steps with a “convert event to audio file” option?

    Cheers,

    Malcolm.
