if I was mixing a Britney Spears record and HER VOCALS needed more than 5 bands to sound good (which is likely 😉 ) would you suggest replacing HER?
Replace Britney with another vocalist or replace zPEQ with another EQ ? You must be kidding. Of cource, replace Britney. 😈 😆 😉
Seriously, I must agree with you: 5 bands is not “overkill”, but it’s enough in ~80% of cases IMO.

I think there should be a spectrum analyzer (switchable on/off) built into it too.
Yes! This is what I’m dreaming of. But I don’t think it’s planned 🙁
@Zynewave wrote:
I’m having fun with this 🙂
Can we join you in playing with the first Zynewave plugin? 😉
@Zynewave wrote:
Should the zPEQ use fixed band types (low shelf, high shelf, 3 parametric bands) or should there be a type parameter for each band?
EQ types should be selectable IMO, ’cause plugin will be much more flexible. If you want to save some place in editor, I’m sure there should be a compromise… Something like rightclick on a band in a graphical part of editor to change the type of the filter. BTW, what about lp/hp types? It’s very useful sometimes. For example, HP filter to cut lowfreq noises to prevent DC offset. I use it a lot, and I will be happy to use zPEQ for it.

How do you work with mono/stereo plugins? Should there be two separate plugin dll files?
Personally I prefer to choose between stereo/mono processing right in plugin window.
@Zynewave wrote:
How should the plugins be installed? Should they be included in the Podium installer, or be available as a separate zip download?
I think that they should be included in Podium installer, but with an option to install them or not.
@Zynewave wrote:
Should the plugins be free (i.e. included in the Podium demo installer) or should they only be available as a bonus for Podium license owners?
I agree with Conquistador. First of all, plugins pack should be useful for new users. So they should be included in demo installer.
And what if track inspector info panel will show generic plugin editor even if plugin is not configured to use the generic editor? So we can use both generic GUI in a track inspector (for quick editing plugin parameters) and plugin’s default GUI for loading samples (if plugin is a sampler) or doing other things that can’t be done using generic editor.

I’m amazed I haven’t spotted this during my testing.
It’s a difficult problem for one man to build so powerful application alone. Just keep in mind that other one-man companies usually have much more problems with their software. 😉

I’ll release a bug-fix version in a few days time.
Cool! 😀
Wow – what a great update. Embedded generic plugin editor is wonderful – great for live playing. And changes in track dragging is also a big help, thanks. Everything is working nice exept one thing – ‘gain’ control in track inspector is not updated when tweaking.
Thanks much for an explanation.
Hello Frits.
I still have a problems with coping curve sequences. Some events just disappears. Did you received the project file?
@Zynewave wrote:
Hehe, good one.
Yes. Me search – you destroy 😈 😆
If seriously, there’s another one problem with Podium. Now with curve editor. I’ve e-mailed you the project with instructions how to reproduce it.
It’s something with displaying selection area…
Steps to reproduce: click and hold left mouse button anywhere in the tracks area with the selection tool. Then start to scroll mousewheel up&down, up&down (do not release left mouse button). The grayed selection area will change it’s size abnormally and then will start to move with the screen up and down instead of expanding/shrinking. Note that the selection function works without any bugs, only selection area sometimes displayed wrong.

For verb, once I started using convolution verbs, I can’t go back to the synthesized ones, so go with Altiverb…it’s not free or cheap, but I don’t know of any free ones in that department.
Altiverb is only for Mac, isn’t it? I’ve already mentioned SIR – it’s the convolution reverb for PC and it’s freeware. It’s got only one problem – latency is too high, but it’s a problem only for live playing.

The next release will have support for VST 2.4 with 64-bit processing, and to test this I have made a simple parametric EQ that supports 64-bit processing. The EQ plugin will not be included in the next 1.52 release, but soon after.
Great ❗
@Darcy:
I vote for Voxengo GlissEQ and Voxengo Marquis Compressor. Everybody loves Arts Acoustic Reverb, but it costs 200$ and I think that kjaerhus classic reverb + aries reverb + SIR maybe (all freeware) can replace it. As for delay and chorus – I also prefer freeware kjaerhus classic plugs. Sounds great.
